I WISH YOU ENOUGH
Recently I overheard a mother & daughter in their last moments together at the airport They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged & the mother said, ' I love you, & I wish you enough. '
The daughter replied, ' Mom, our life together has been more than enough.. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom. '
They kissed & the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted & needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, ' Did you ever say goodbye to someone knowing it would be forever? '
' Yes, I have, ' I replied. ' Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye? ' .
' I am old, & she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead & the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral, ' she said.
' When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say, ' I wish you enough. ' May I ask what that means? '
She began to smile. ' That ' s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone. ' She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, & she smiled even more. ' When we said, ' I wish you enough, ' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them. ' Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive & everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye.
She then began to cry & walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born In 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are com posed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford'.
Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the kicker...
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Power of Belief - renew your confidence again
A businessman was deep in debt and could see no way out.
Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment.
He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.
Suddenly an old man appeared before him.
"I can see that something is troubling you," he said.
After listening to the executive's woes, the old man said, "I believe I can help you."
He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, "Take this money.
Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time."
Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.
The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!
"I can erase my money worries in an instant!" he realized.
But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe.
Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.
With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment.
He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.
Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared.
But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.
"I'm so glad I caught him!" she cried.
"I hope he hasn't been bothering you.
He's always escaping from the rest home and telling people he's John D. Rockefeller. "
And she led the old man away by the arm.
The astonished executive just stood there, stunned.
All year long he'd been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.
Suddenly, he realized that it wasn't the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around.
It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.
2009 was a rough year for a lot of people, and you might be struggling....financially, physically, mentally, emotionally. Or maybe getting out of bed every morning might be a plain simple burden....with nothing but pain and anguish to look forward to. But maybe 2010 has better things in store for you.

stories from the teachings of a aghori
Long ago there lived a wood cutter near a forest.one day taking his five year old son he went into the forest to cut wood.as they walked through the forest the father kept pointing to different trees and explained to his son when they should be cut and what their value was.the boy was absorbing all this information when something caught his attention.he seemed to hear some chanting and not knowing where it was coming from he asked his dad about it.the father said son that chanting you are hearing i s coming from a sage who has been meditating for god knows how many years.he took him to the place where the sage was meditating but all that they could see was a huge termite mound which over decades had grown around the meditating sage.only the sounds of the chanting mantra could be heard.the father looked at his son and said my child i came with your grandfather that is my father when i was your age and it was the same then.iremember my father saying that nobody has seen the sage for he has been meditating for centuries.he is revered by all our villagers and whenever you feel you have a problem come pray here for solutions and peace.
The boy agreed and they both went on with their work.years passed, decades passed and the small boy was now a very old man.one day he was cutting wood when he heard the growls of a hungry tiger, remembering that the villagers had mentioned about a man-eater lurking nearby he slowly climbed to the tallest portion of the tree and kept still.the tiger mad with hunger passed under his tree growling when it paused and sniffed the air.the wood cutter wondering what was happening kept following the tiger's movements when to his shock he realised that the tiger was slowly moving towards the mound in which the holy sage was meditating.but he relaxed knowing that the sage was so powerful that a tiger would not be able to harm him.but confidence turned to horror when the hungry tiger started digging the mound and soon unearthed the sage who was deep in meditation.with one swipe the tiger tore the sage's head of and dragged the body into the bushes to feed.
the woodcutter was mortified and shocked out of his wits.he kept telling himself this cannot be for the sage was holy and all powerful and how is it possible for a tiger to kill him.in this state the woodcutter asked himself here is a holy man who has been chanting the mantra om shakti,om shakti,om shakti, for hundres of years and yet he was killed so easily.just as he said the mantra the third time shakti appeared before him.the woodcutter sitting on the topmost branch couldnt grasp or understand what a woman was doing hovering in midair dressed in strange clothes and jewellery.mustering strength he asked the strange lady who are you.to this the goddess said i am shakti.the woodcutter if you are shakti what are you doing here madam.for this shakti said son you called me so i came.the woodcutter replied i called you but when.to this shakti said you said my mantra so i came.
the woodcutter lost his temper, you crazy woman who are you trying to cheat.here is a sage who has been meditating on you for centuries and you didnt' appear for him and let him die by a tiger and you are saying i said the mantra and you came.you think i am mad,i think you are a cheat and just some mad woman dressed strangely and lost in the woods.the goddess shakti smiled patiently and said son i am truly shakti and i have come because you called me.the woodcutter patiently asked her my god you came for me but why didn't come for the sage who has been calling you for so many centuries.to this shakti smilingly said my child if in your last birth you had said my name i would have come for you.if you had said my name in your previous birth i would have come for you but you didn't so i came now since you called me.the woodcutter said i dont understand for which the goddess said every mantra you chant is like a link in a chain and that chain is like a umbilical cord connecting life to god.every chant brings you closer to me and you only had a few left but spent the last births without remembering me.
The woodcutter asked her about the sage who was eaten by the tiger to which the goddess said he has a few thousand births left, but don't worry about him for it his time you came to me to be one with me.
my friends when you are down on ground we see a lot, climb to the first floor of a tall building we see more, climb to the top floor of the same building and we see even more.sitting in a plane we see so much more, from space we see the entire earth then imagine what god can see from the position he is in.simple but beautiful isn't it.
a fisherman's net is woven with so many links which ultimately forms a huge net.the same way the web of life is interwoven with so many links and all our lives are joined together.we don't know why, when, where but all our lives are definitely interlinked from the smallest virus to the biggest whale.animate or inanimate every metal, rock, sand, water, life contains molecules, atoms, protons, electrons, neutrons and all going around in a whipped frenzy.
the dna of a man and a tree are just a few lines different but one is a tree ready to be cut down and trampled.
many are the days when as i am driving through chennai i have stopped at traficc signals and looked at obitury posters stuck on walls.some saying kanneer anjali for muniyamma aged 87 and next to it kanneer anjali for prabhu aged 3.i go about my work wondering 87 and 3.such is life.but life is now at his moment.if you love someone say it,if you have hurt someone say sorry,if someone wanted your help dont delay help now.live now for yesterday is history, tommorrow is mystery and that is why today is called present for it is a gift.
I wish you a very happy new year.i might and might not meet any of you but that does not matter.if i can bring a smile,if i can touch your hearts,if i can in someway make your day easier then my life would be worth it.true happiness is when you can be the source of happiness for other lives.be well.

A woman goes to Italy to attend a 2-week, company training session.
Her husband drives her to the airport and wishes her to have a good trip.
The wife answers : "Thank you honey, what would you like me to bring for you?"
The husband laughs and says: "An Italian girl !!!" The woman kept quiet and left.
Two weeks later he picks her up in the airport and asks: "So, honey, how was the trip?"
"Very good, thank you." "And, what happened to my present?"
"Which present?" She asked. "The one I asked for - an Italian girl!!"
"Oh, that" she said
"Well, I did what I could, now we have to wait for nine months to see if it is a girl !!!"
There's A Moon Inside My Body
THE moon shines in my body, but my blind eyes cannot see it:
The moon is within me, and so is the sun.
The unstruck drum of Eternity is sounded within me; but my deaf ears cannot hear it.
So long as man clamours for the I and the Mine, his works are as naught:
When all love of the I and the Mine is dead, then the work of the Lord is done.
For work has no other aim than the getting of knowledge:
When that comes, then work is put away.
The flower blooms for the fruit: when the fruit comes, the flower withers.
The musk is in the deer, but it seeks it not within itself: it wanders in quest of grass
I Said To The Wanting-Creature Inside Me
I said to the wanting-creature inside me:
What is this river you want to cross?
There are no travelers on the river-road, and no road.
Do you see anyone moving about on that bank, or nesting?
There is no river at all, and no boat, and no boatman.
There is no tow rope either, and no one to pull it.
There is no ground, no sky, no time, no bank, no ford!
And there is no body, and no mind!
Do you believe there is some place that will make the
soul less thirsty?
In that great absence you will find nothing.
Be strong then, and enter into your own body;
there you have a solid place for your feet.
Think about it carefully!
Don't go off somewhere else!
