PART 1
It is 4 a.m. and the alarm rings.. Raji who is fast asleep gets disturbed, two minutes later she opens her eyes and switches her mobile On. A photo appears on her mobile screen, a smile blossoms on her lips, she kisses the picture and says "I LOVE YOU KARTHIK"...
Half an hour later, dressed up elegantly as she comes to the living room she hears her mother singing Thiruppaavai beautifully. She comes to the Pooja room where her parents were waiting for her.
Three of them say some slokas together and finish aarathi. she touches her parents feet and they bless her and say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAJATHI..." she smiles, hugs them and says "Thank you
amma, Thank you appa.."
All of them come to the living room and she says "appo naan kilambaren maa..."
amma: enga??? kovilukku varalaiyaa nee?
Raji: maa innaikku exam irukku illaiyaa maa...
Appa: adhukku? ithanai varushamaa irukkura vazhakkathai en maathanum nu nenakkare?
Raji: appaa... oru nimisham naa solradhai porumaiyaa kelunga...
Amma: sari... sollu...
Raji: naan T Nagar poren... perumaal kovilukku ... angeye konja neram padichittu exam ku poyidaren...pakkathula irukkara perumaal kovilukku neenga poyittu vaanga... naan naalaikku varen..
Amma: sari iru... Payasam panni irukken ... saaptu po...
Appa: enna nee... innaikku maargazhi maasam mudhal naal illaiyaa? kovilukku poyittu theertham saappidaama ava eppadi payasam saappiduvaa?
Amma: adhukku... porandha naal adhuvumaa verum vayathulayaa veetile irundhu kilambuve?
Raji: amma neenga oru box le pottu kudunga, naan theertham saaptu kovil le ye payasam saappidaren.
Amma:sari...
she goes to the kitchen.
Appa: eppadi poga pore?
Raji: auto la dhaan...
Appa: paarthu bhadhramaa po...
her amma comes with a small box and gives it to her.
She keeps the box in her handbag and says "sari naan kilambavaa?"
Both her parents say "ALL THE BEST.."
She replies "Thank you"
Amma: exam mudichittu veettukku variyaa?
Raji: illa maa... Office poganum... naan varathukku night aayidum...
amma: innaikku oru naal leave kettirukkalaam illai?
Raji: maaa...please...
Appa: nee kilambu daa...
Raji: sari paa... bye maa...
appa, amma: bye...
She comes out of her house, takes an auto and reaches the temple.
AT THE TEMPLE:
Since it was the first day of the month of Margazhi... the temple was beautifully decorated with flowers and thoranams all over. Some preists were reciting Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatham rhythmically. She has the Darshan and takes the theertham, goes around the temple and sits in front of the lord. She closes her eyes and prays God "Perumaale... birthday adhuvumaa ... kaalaiyile ye appa, amma kitta poi solla vendiyadhaa pochu... adhukku ennai mannichidu ppaa... naan innaikku exam nalla ezhudhanum... Karthik eppavume santhoshamaa irukkanum..."
She gets up, comes out of the temple and takes an auto to Besant nagar.She stops the auto in front of a house, pays the auto and goes inside.
INSIDE THE HOUSE:
Raji enters into the living room and finds some priests sitting and getting ready for some homam. She goes straight into the kitchen, a 42 yr old lady is busy cooking and her husband is arranging flowers and fruits in separate trays.
Raji: appaa... ammaa...
both of them turn around and smile seeing her.
She touches their feet and both of them bless her "Happy Birthday Raji..."
She simply smiles.
Raji: sorry maa... late aayiduchi... enna pannanum nu sollunga...
Amma: neee thaan pannanum... avanukku unnoda samayal thaane romba pidikkum...
Raji: sari...enna enna pannanum nu sollunga...
Appa: Raji... amma adhellaam eduthu vaikkarathukulla nee mela poyittu Karthik oda cupboard le irundhu avanoda oru set dress, daily use panradhellaam eduthuttu vandhu hall la vachidu...
Raji: sari paa...
She takes the box given by her mother and says..."amma paal payasam seidhaanga... Karthik ku romba pidikkume nnu eduthuttu vandhen...
Appa: adhaiyum dress kooda vai maa...
She goes upstairs and opens the door and enters Karthik's room.
IN KARTHIK'S BEDROOM:
Raji enters the room and looks around...
The room was kept very clean and tidy as always...
The room was beautiifully decorated with Karthik and Raji's pictures on all the four sides of the walls.
She opens a folded paper, goes near a photo, takes the kungumam, puts on his forehead and says... "innaikku perumaal ku unnoda favourite orange colour la alangaaram... parka kollai azzhagaa irundhadhu..."
She kisses the photo and says "I LOVE YOU"
She goes near his cupboard and again looks at his photo and says.."mmm... nallaa prepare panni irukken... ellaam revise pannitten... exam ezhuthittu vandhu eppadi ezhudhinen nu solren... sari intha dress nallaa irukkaa? naan intha dress eduthappo amma ore sirichittu irundhaanga theriyumaa..nee orange colour naa venaa nnu alaruve ippo enna aachu appadinnu... sirikkaadhe... yaaraavadhu enna thittinaa kindal pannaa unakku ore santhoshamaa irukkume... sari naan appuramaa vandhu pesaren... innum samaikkanum.. bye..."
She takes her favourite blue jeans, purple t shirt, his coolers, watch, bike keys, mobile, laptop and pattu veshti and comes downstairs.
IN THE LIVING ROOM:
The priests were getting ready for the homam. one of them calls Raji and says..."amma inga padathukku poovum, pottum vachittu adhai ellam padathukku munnaadi vaiyyungo. she gets a two feet high Kathik's photo and places in the centre, decorates with garlands and keeps all the things she brought from upstairs in front of the photo and keeps the box and says "unnoda favourite... paal payasam"...tears fill her eyes, roll down on her cheeks and fall on his photo.
One of the priest saya" amma ... tharpanam vidanum ... appaavai vara sollu maa..."
she nods her head, wipes her tears and comes to the kitchen.
Raji: appa... ayyar vara solraar ... tharpanam vidanumaam...
Appa: sari maa...
He leaves.
Raji: amma ...neengalum ponga... naan panren...
Amma: sari ... paal edhaavadhu kudikkiriyaa?
Raji: venaa maaa... naanum viratham irukken...
amma pats on her cheek and goes to living room.
Raji starts cooking. Again she gets lost in Karthik's memories..
A smile appears on her lips as she fondly remembers their first meeting...
