Part 2

3 years later

Nisha no longer trained at Lakshya Academy. She was being trained by the national coach since she had won the nationals. In fact, she had worked extra hard for the nationals so that she could leave Lakshya Academy. It had become suffocating for her to train there.

Of course, in those 3 years she had undone a lot of changes that Viraj had triggered. She realized that she was not meant for love. She had accepted the fact that she would never fit the world's definition of 'feminine'. In short, she had reverted to her previous self albeit minus the self doubt.

She had also figured that irrespective of Viraj's character, he was her first teacher, her mentor. She owed him that much. His work as a mentor could not be questioned, even now.

He was currently training girls from various schools and Nisha would visit the Academy occasionally to motivate those girls. Thankfully, Daadji attended to her whenever she went. Even when Viraj did talk to her, they were overly formal. Their conversations limited to the newest rifles that the girls could train with. At most, Viraj would congratulate her when she won something.

Viraj had cleared his intentions to Nisha. He'd sent her an email explaining his case. He had elaborated on his entire plan, how he had heard her confession... Why he'd brought in the fake Aarthi... Everything. It was not as if Nisha didn't believe him. It was just that she was too tired to feel again. Perhaps, her initial intensity of emotions for Viraj had exhausted her.

Nisha was thinking of all this as she paced the track. She was here with the Indian contingent... The world championship. Dadaji had reluctantly allowed her to participate when he realized that a neat fraction of the Indian population would hate him if he didn't.

Viraj had been quietly observing her from the sidelines. In those 3 years, he too had relapsed.Only when the girls came to train did he step out of his penthouse. The three hours that he spent training them were the only happy moments that he had. In fact, he was here only because his students had insisted that they needed him for moral support. He had turned into a loner again.

He had accepted the fact that he actually repelled love. First his Mom, now Nisha.

Nisha... He observed her as she lapped the track for the fourth time. She was drenched in sweat. He couldn't help but notice her physique. She was still thin, but her muscles were visible too.With her hair pulled back, he could clearly see drops of sweat drip down her neck. She was scantily dressed by her own standards. She had on a racer back vest and a baggy pair of shorts. He shook his head. She was a distant dream. He had no right to see her that way.

As she finished her fifth and final lap, Viraj walked towards the track with a towel. "You'll overstrain yourself Miss Nisha. Please rest."

Nisha looked at him in surprise. "Sir, you're here.. I thought I was alone."
