Okay, I don't know much about this show but the initial promos showed how Anirudh is going to get married to Bondita and then he would slowly replace the traditional ideas from her mind and even get her educated in the meanwhile and make her a barrister.

So, honestly I never imagined they would introduce any third angle here...

Besides, I read some articles stating that a few points of the show like the ML educating his wife and making her a barrister and some more have been inspired from the life of the social activist, Jyotiba Phule. So, honestly I don't think there was any need for introducing a third angle here.

Now, coming to your question... Well, I have never seen any show where they don't introduce any third angle. And I still don't understand why. Besides, my second question since forever has been that why do they make the third angle as a negative character?? They can obviously keep a third angle as a good friend of the leads, no? Just like SRK's character, Aman from Kal Ho Na Ho?? I know his character was one who was about to die soon but still, he was a good friend of the other two...

I am again giving an example of YRHPK... The younger brother, Kunal had an ex who was just after him for his money and she even left him for his money. Then, they introduced Vatsal Sheth's character, Nishant as Mishti's friend who was there to help her. But, suddenly within a few days, they showed him developing feelings for her and turned him into a negative character within no time!!!

I sometimes feel that they make it a point to turn the third angles into negative because they are afraid that the audience might love the pairing of the lead with him/her...

Now, coming to the show... I completely agree with you. Since the show is dealing on such a serious social stigma that the leads and the supporting cast should have sufficed. Aniruddh trying to educate Bondita and his family creating some hurdles due to their conservative thoughts should have been enough.

It should have been enough to show Bondita reluctant to accept Aniruddh's modern ideas, his family not ready to accept this and the conservative society also not accepting all this should have been more than enough.

Ufff... Kuch zyada hi lamba ho gaya...

Couldn't agree more.

Even I had read about the basic story in different articles and when I got to know about the third angle, I was shocked. 😲

I would say, I got lucky that there was no third angle in Bhootu and Saba Mumtaz was determined enough to run YMMKD with her own vision that despite pressure from the channel, she never turned Sanvi into a third angle.

As far as the audiences are concerned, I would say the ratio is 1:1 I have noticed some audience heave a sigh of relief if the third angle is made negative because then the shortcomings of the leads don't get highlighted. 🤔

80% of the times, I have actually loved third angles more than the leads. Because as I had told you about another forum, I don't feel layers is a sole property of typical bed boys. If a third angle turns out like Mukhi or Ben or Link, I would choose them any day, any time over hot, good for nothing leads. 😎

Exactly... After reading the basic story and the articles regarding the show, this third angle thing actually came as a shocker for me too...

Yeah... We were actually lucky that Saba Mumtaz was determined to run YMMKD with her own vision and despite pressure from the channel, she didn't bring a third angle in the story.

Exactly... In fact, majority of the audience heave a sigh of relief when the makers turn the third angle into a negative one. And I feel that the third angle is deliberately introduced as a negative one just because they want the audience to love the leads.

In fact, I have seen that several times, when a third angle or a parallel lead is introduced, the audience themselves proclaim him/her as a negative character even before he/she enters which actually turns out to be true.

It seems like the audience can never accept a positive third angle in 70-80% of the cases.

Same here...

Again bringing in YRHPK here... The makers turned Vatsal's character into a negative one all of a sudden and even gave him a sudden exit. And I feel it was because the fans actually started liking his character... His character had so much potential. But sigh...

True! and honestly, I blame the makers also. If you really want the audience to ship the leads, why don't you work on them? What's the need to introduce a third angle?

I have noticed, whenever the news of a popular actor joining my favorite shows came, in case of American shows, fans were rather excited thinking about the possibility that how he/she can enrich the story.

You cannot imagine the overwhelming response when Alisa Millano and Holly Marie Combs guest starred in Grey's Anatomy. But before an actor/actress joins the show, Indian audiences star bashing. Areh bhai! Itna kis baat ka insecurity?

And I blame the makers too because that's what they have been showing for years. So why wouldn't the viewers feel tensed? 🤔

Exactly!! If you want the audience to love the leads, then they should work on the leads instead of using the third angles as scapegoats to glorify the lead couple.

If they introduce a female third angle, then they portray her as someone who is after the ML for his money or property or just wants to oust the FL from the ML's life either by hook or by crook.

Similarly, if they introduce a male third angle, then they mostly portray him as a total creep, lusting after the FL.

Bold: exactly!! I read a few comments on twitter when Vatsal's character entered in YRHPK. They were already proclaiming that he will turn out to be a negative one and that too a creep. They were bashing him left, right and centre...

The makers have been showing this for years... So, the audience have also made up their mindset in the same way.

Anyways, off topic but I don't understand why the story writers in IF don't find some new and different topics!!!

Fanfiction section mein bhi bhatke the kya? 😉

Jokes apart, in my experience, I have read only a handful of fanfictions where the writers had actually written something good. Most of the ffs revolved around romance only and cut-paste storyline from movies and tv shows. What's worse, the ones I actually enjoyed reading, writers got too busy and stopped updating. 🤔

Haan... Fanfictions section main bhi bhatke the and forums main bhi.

I just opened the topics... Poora padhne main mehnat nahi kari. Most of the writers are either giving angsty stories where either of the couple has an accident or is in some serious situation or they are giving usual cut-paste storyline from movies...and all of them revolving around romance. Which is useless for me.

Several others that I opened had a tag of 'matured content' on the top. So, I didn't even bother reading them.

The first ever FF I read was in the CID forum. I hadn't joined IF at that time... And when that writer turned her FF into a members only post, I joined the forum just to read that particular story. 😆

Bold: the same happened with me too... The ones that I actually liked, writers stopped updating...

Yaha par bhi similarity. Even I don't bother reading FFs with mature content. I know physical aspect is important but some people just gets too much involved in it.

Wow! Joined IF to read one particular story! 😲 Must have been one hell of an interesting story. 😊

Yes... I joined IF to read one particular story. And my friends still call me crazy due to it. 😆

It was indeed an interesting story... As I told you earlier, I absolutely love crime and detective fiction. So, it got me interested.

Besides, that was the first FF in that forum which was turned into a members only post.

Looks like the writer was quite passionate about his/her story. 😊
