Part 6

It was a Sunday and Anant was taking a day off. On his day off he loved to laze around in his house reading or spending time with his plants. Nimi was sitting in the conservatory whispering over the phone.

"I said to you not to ring me...I will ring you".

"Darling I was missing you..so could not help myself..I have not got you into trouble have I?"

"Not yet...listen I will be back in three days...if my bro finds out..."

Anany walked in and found it suspicious she was talking strangely over the phone.

"nimi who you talking to?"

She gulped her breath and turned to face him. "Bhai I was talking to my friend from university...she is just missing me". She turned back to the mobile and began pretending she was talking to her friend Sia. "Listen Sia my brother is here so I have got to go...yeh? bye".

Anant raised his eyebrow and then was convinced by her innocent face that her sister was telling the truth.

As soon as he was walking off his mobile rang. Turning it on in his usual sleek style he turned around and nimi sighed that she was not caught.

"Yes Aman?"

"Sir Mr Mehta just rang and asked you to finish his designs by tomorrow morning because he is going to the UK tomorrow afternoon.."

"What? but I have not got anyone to help me...will you be able to come to my house?"

"Sorry sir I am out of town to meet my parents.."

"Ah okay anyway who has got the file of Mr Mehta?"

"navya has it.."

A smile crossed his lips. "navya? Okay you enjoy your day off Aman..I will get it sorted by tonight".

He dialled navya's number. "Sir good morning".

He ignored her greeting. "navya you got Mr Mehta's file?"

"Yes sir"

"Okay bring it down my house...we need to finish the designs for Mr Mehta by tomorrow morning...we can't let him down...I will text you my address".

Saying that he quickly disconnected the phone. navya was aware that refusing him would mean putting her job on line. She began getting ready with the file. Anant stood there with a slight smirk..something was cooking in his brain.

navya entered the bajpai mansion and looked around in disbelief...the house was huge like a castle. Now wonder his highness had such a big ego. She timidly walked into the lion's den taking small baby steps. She was looking behind shocked that in such a big house there was no one to be seen who lived on it. "Anant is like the king of the story of beauty and the beast..all alone" she giggled.

"Not quite..I live with him too" nimi retorted sweetly.

"Sorry I.." she was lost for words.

"navya no need to feel uncomfortable I am not like my Bro...for your information he just acts like a hard nut but he is very soft from inside...I have seen that side". It seemed nimi was advertising her brother like a matrimonial column.

navya listened on not fully convinced.

"Why don't you sit?"

"No nimisha...I need to see Sir to complete some designs.."

"Oh okay...he has asked you to go u to his bedroom...he works from there...his bedroom is just over there.."

She looked up and proceeded towards the steps. She did not know why she was just agreeing to going up but some curiosity was urging her to see what his bedroom was like. She stood near the door and took a few deep breaths. One would think that she was never going to come down again.

He was putting his shirt on and checking himself out in his gigantic mirror. Everything in his house was according to his taste modern yet luxurious.

"Oh God"-( protect me)

Saying that she knocked and entered his room which was already open.

She stood there frozen..her mouth just dropped seeing his lean mascular form. She slowly looked at his delicious deep belly button...all his stomach taut and his rippling muscles still visible through his shirt which was all open. navya's mouth was dry for the very first time in her innocent life. She gulped at the wonderful sight before her and thought *What a man.."

Anant looked at her reaction through the mirror...sometimes looking at his glorious form and sometimes shyly turning away. He smirked and thought:

*So navya does not find me attractive eh? Well her eyes and posture is saying something different...*

After getting an eyeful she turned away pretending she had not seen anything and cleared her throat...to make him realise her presence but little did she know he was aware as soon as she entered.

"Sir I am here"

Anant turned around slightly pretending to do his buttons up slowly and walked towards her keeping a steady gaze. She flinched slightly and moved but he circled her around teasingly. She got a whiff of the most gorgeous manly smell she had come across...

"Okay lets get to work" he began buttoning up a bit faster now. "Sir what aftershave are you wearing?"

He looked back at her shocked and yet pleased that she found he smelled so yummy. He arched his eyebrow.

"Well navya I don't tell my secrets to anyone but as you asked so sweetly uhhh its Pacco Rabanne 1 Million".

She looked into his eyes that were looking very intense and mischevious and then felt embarrassed she had asked such a question.

"Sir lets get on with work.." He pointed her to his study that was adjacent to his bedroom. She looked around thinking so this is his bedroom.

He looked at her making her way and thought *Toh tume koi farak nahin parta?* (So you are not affected by me?)

As soon as navya sat down mahii came barging in. She put her arms around Anant and hugged him. navya shifted slightly and peeked seeing mahii in his arms. She felt her blood was boiling. She was touching his face lovingly and then acknowledged navya's presence.

"navya..mahii come to give us a hand so we can complete the designs quickly and then you can come home...I mean can go home".

mahii arched her eyebrow in annoyance and then gave a final peck on his cheek. navya fidgeted with her pen looking annoyed that he let her touch her like that and that too infront of her. All throughtout the session mahuu did not miss any opportunity to touch his hand his face and this further irked navya. Now and again mahii looked at navya to give her a message that Anant was hers and to remind her the importance she has in his life- ironically which was not much. The visit to his house further dug her feelings out and she left feeling like someone had stabbed her and that 'someone' was Anant.

Next day at the office Mr Mehta came in early to see his designs. He was extremely ecstatic and the sheer brilliance and swift service of the bajpai company. Anant always took pride in keeping his company's reputation the best in the country.

Mr oberoi had sent the music video for Anant to give it a once clear before broadcasting it. He decided to watch it at home whilst in peace. He had lots of work to get on with. A while later a phone call came from Mr Oberoi himself.

"Hi Mr anant..sorry to disturb you...just had a party tomorrow and wanted to invite you...I know your busy but my son Vikram wanted to meet navya as well so if you could bring her with you please?..."

"But why?" asked a highly curious Anant, he was very protective of her.

"uhhh he is really is impressed by her and wanted to know more about her".

Anant firstly was shell-shocked at someone being 'interested' in navya and then under currently asking her out for a date. That truly made him mad.

"Mr Oberoi if you don't mind I run a fashion business not matchmaking site...and as far as I know navya is not that type of a girl".

"Mr bajpai it is for my son's happiness.. he wants to..."

He cut him off sharply.

He gritted his teeth and got up from his chair. "Mr Oberoi as I said I run a professional business and I don't have to comply to anything you say...but if you want to break all future deals with us be my guest".

He cut the phone off and could not believe what he just done. Why was he putting his business on line for just one of his employees? *How dare Mr Oberoi blackmail him into this fiasco? Anant makes his own destiny no one tells him what to do!*

navya sat on her desk mulling over what she had experienced yesterday at Anant's house. Every time she saw mahii she remembered her touching his hand, his face and hugging him shamelessly infront of her.

Suddenly a tall handsome man stood in front of her - Vikram.

"Hi I'm Vikram" he extended his hand. She looked up puzzled.

"Toh?" (so?)

"I wanted to meet you but your boss refused ...I saw the video you shot for my father and I have gone crazy about you".

Anant had got up for his usual rounds of looking down at his staff and checking if they were doing some work.

"you?!"

He quickly came downstairs wanting to know what Vikram was doing round his office. His heart rate was going up by the second...he really was going to blast Vikram. How dare he even think of asking her out. As soon as he got there he stood there listening to what he was saying.

"I am in awe of your beauty and your charisma.."

He stood there staring at navya and she felt rather strange hearing some one complimenting her so openly.

"Mr Vikram aap muje sharminda kar rahe hain". (Mr Vikram you are embarrassing me)

Anant could not believe navya was talking to such a sleaze bag. He stood there mighty annoyed with the exchange between them. He kept making fists to control his anger to lash out.

"Miss navya you got a great face and amazing aura...I could enhance your talent and make you so famous that you cannot even believe..."

"Mr Vikram...I understand what you're saying but I did not do this video to get famous I did it for my boss...as far as being famous goes well really I'm just a simple girl..but please thanks but no thanks".

Anant looked on admiringly at his dedicated employee- she really was sweet.

Vikram stood there trying to convince navya but Anant stepped in.

"You heard the lady now get out before I call security". Seeing the eyes of anant Vikram had no choice but to leave the premises. mahi was furious at navya for becoming the centre of attention again and causing Anant to come out of his cabin. She looked on at the intense gaze Anant was giving to navya. She burned with jealousy.

Anant turned to leave and went a few paces Ranveer came in with a cup of tea and without realising Anant was around blurted out:

"navya I got you tea.."

Anant angrily turned back and Ranveer noticed navya's change of expression and turned to see who it was. He gave a quick glance at Anant and said:

"navya behna aap keliye chai" (navya sister tea for you)😆

Anant raised his eyebrow and then turned around with a slight smirk-that sounded better much better.

nimi had cooked Palak paneer and trifle for her brother as it was last day with her brother. Anant came to the dinner table and began smelling the food.

"nimi when you go from here tomorrow who will be here to spoil me like you do".

She began serving him food.

"Thats why I say brother marry as soon as possible...you never know what life has in store for you...God knows if I will be around you or not".

Anant face twisted in anger and then sorrow. "nimi don't you dare ever say that to me ever again..my whole world is you..since our parents passed away your the reason I got through so many obstacles and became THE Anant bajapi".

"Bhai you take things so seriously I was just trying to persausde you to marry for your navya..."

Hearing the word 'navya' he looked uncomfortable and she burst out laughing. Suddenly nimi's mobile rang and she rejected the call- it was nikhil. Anant looked on curious.

"Who was it?"

"No one special, just some friend". She said switching her phone off so no one could disturb the brother and sister bonding.

"nimi do you want to see the new music video navya shot for Mr Oberoi...Lets watch it together and let me know if it is okay to broadcast it".

"navya in a music video...wowww...come on hurry up put it on bhai".

Anant smirked his sister was more smitten than him by navya. Both sat there watching and nimi kept on 'awwwing' and 'ahhhing'.

"Bhai navya is really hot na? he playfully nudged Anant.

"nimi...Aanant said angrily". He sat there knowing that she had challenged that he can't 'have' her and that sent him into frenzy.

mahii sat in navya desk waiting for her to come back from her break. She sat there filing her nails.

"mahii Mam aap?" ( mahii Mam you?)

She got up from the desk and pulled her pink mini skirt down. She walked towards navya in an attitude. "Yes me...You want this company to go down don't you?"

"No Mam...why you saying that?"

"Don't give me that you don't know? anant has broken all ties with Mr Oberoi because Mr Oberoi asked Anant to bring you to the party tonight to meet his son Vikram because he was 'interested' in you- not that I can see why. navya you are so ungrateful to your boss..he provided you a job...stopped you from becoming homeless...the least you could do is ask Mr Oberoi to not break ties with our company just because Anant said to him in a rage".

navya looked shocked and overwhelmed. She knew she had to say something to Mr Oberoi..she knew Anant valued Mr Oberoi liaison with his company. She got hold of the number of Mr Oberoi and began calling him. He picked the phone up.

"Mr Oberoi its navya...I needed to speak to you...I heard my boss broke all ties with you because of me. I know he did it to protect me and my answer would have been the same to your son but I also know you and Anant have a good working relationship and that should not be spoiled due to a third party- which is me".

"Miss navya...I assure you I did not say I will break any deal it was Mr bajapi...but if you can come to my party we can discuss it further..".

navya had to go and sort this out for her employer. She decided to go straight from work before the party started. She asked Aman to let her go early and told him the reason why she had to go. Aman knowing fully well how important it was for Anant to stop breaking ties with Mr Oberoi.

Anant realised he had not seen navya for most of the day and it was time for signing off. He came down to get a glimpse of her. His eyes searched for everywhere. Reluctantly he asked Aman.

"Aman where's navya?"

"She had to go early"

"Where? I said where?" He sensed something was off.

"Uhhh" He did not want to say a word.

"Aman you well know where she is..so tell me...

"Sir she has gone to Mr Oberoi party to persuade him to not break ties with you because mahii Mam told her that she was the reason why you broke the deal". Anant ran as fast as he could to his car. A thousand thoughts crossed his mind...he was worried at what she might agree to.

When he reached the party he looked frantically for navya and found her standing near Vikram, smiling and talking to him. He looked at them full of anger and hurt. Anant looked on seeing them joke and laugh and eventually handshake. That was it he could not keep his anger controlled he stormed forward and was intercepted by Mr Oberoi.

"Mr bajapi what a pleasant surprise". Anant kept his gaze at them both and Mr Oberoi noticed.

"Relax young man...navya told me everything...you are very lucky to have an employee like that...we understand she is not into the thing we had in mind for her...but Mr bajapi we never wanted to break ties with you...it was your decision but I would appreciate it if we could carry on where we had left off?"

navya looked at Anant and walked beside him and looked a little guilty. "Mr Oberoi I appreciate your words and would love to work with you again". They both shook hands much to navya's happiness.

Anant stayed a little while longer discussing a major fashion show they were meant to organise together. Mr Oberoi asked navya to model the traditional range which Anant had asked her when he first employed her. navya could sense Anant was still irked by the step she had taken so she left without letting him know. As he was keeping a hawk eye on her and realised she had left as soon as his hazel eyes could not see her. He quickly left trying to look for her. It was pouring with rain outside.

He saw her walking. He shouted out. "navya...STOP". navya looked back and panicked and began running. "navya how many times have I told you to stop when I'm talking to you !".

She still did not listen and she ran further looking behind to see if he had caught up with her. As it was dark a car beeped and Anant ran and pulled her away in his arms from colliding.

Anant stood still aware that she was scared and she was clinging to his blazer for dear life. Slowly the rain got faster and her heartbeat increased with it...she shyly moved away and was met by his hazel eyes which were reading into her soul. His nose just an inch away from her forehead..their eyes lost into another world. His hands gripped her by her biceps and she rested her petite hands on his waist. He asked her in a quiet husky voice. "navya why did you do this?"

She hesitated and realised she was really close to him and moved away. She had her back to him and began holding her hands. "Because your company would have been losing out because of me..and I didn't want you to blame me as always".

He looked gutted that she was only worried about his loss and profits and there was no other reason.

He looked at her trembling with cold and took his blazer off and placed it around her shoulders. This was of no use because his blazer was drenched. She uncomfortable clutched the blazer while he led her to the car.

**

Anant got home all drenched and lochun got worried and made him kara to stop him from catching a cold. He went upstairs to change into his dry clothes.

He was met by mahii in his bedroom who was waiting for him to stay the night.

He looked at her annoyed and began getting flashbacks of what she made navya do.

"How dare you go behind my back and accuse navya of ruining my business..."

She stepped back seeing him coming towards her.

"How many times I have to tell you mahii to stay out of my business..."

She began making excuses. "Anant I only said all that because I care for you and your welfare".

"mahii I am not a kid and I don't need you to care for me got it? Now just go home okay".

He stormed off to change and she tearfully headed off home. Meanwhile navya put his blazer to dry and went to sleep pleased with herself that she had sorted Anants issue with Mr Oberoi.

nimi left to go to her university with plenty of cash to spend with her boyfriend nikhil. He was a very popular boy . All the girls use to die to want to date with him but lately he took a shine to nimi. One could say nimi was a love stricken girl who was in awe of his 'stud' status in university. nimi decided not to tell her brother as she knew he would never allow any boys to be anywhere near her but she was in love. And as they say love is blind.

Her only connection with Anant was through her mobile and he made sure she was provided with everything. nikhil also did not want Anant to know about him and only time could tell why.
