But I seriously liked the way the cvs tried portray that divorce is not the solution to any problem in the marriage. these days divorce is like astatus symbol for many people and they all belong to my generation! The delicate balance of compromise and adjustment is oo-lala
But ladies, this is definitely not the case in India where loads and loads of women stick through bad marriages because of the social stigma attached to divorce, because they know their families - brothers, fathers will not support them, because they have no assets of their own - even if they do these are practically controlled by the men - and they have no skills most importantly no confidence or support to strike out on their own. People like Baba would prefer that their daughters, grand daughters suffer hell in marriage but never break it - the message that needs to go out to everyone is that divorce is not shameful and needs to chosen as a path sometimes when a marriage is not tenable.
Also most of us support Renu because her case is very clear - Gautam was cheating on her and was not even apologetic about it - in fact he blamed poor Renu for it. But what about Mohan - his is a clear case of incompatibility- he is so unhappy in his marriage - what is the solution for people who are in his position- should he just live his life unhappily - but we all have only one life...
I was also very happy with today's episode but I think the looney point of view got more screen space than nayi soch - which is what is reflected in the forum also. Perhaps this conversation will need to continue in the serial...
