I disagree with the thread and most of the comments made here.

If a guy her age, claimed not to be able to make tea either, i would say the same that it is quite a shameful thing. Not knowing the basic of survival is not something to be proud of and not being able to cook very basic for either of the gender is something i find unacceptable.

If the show is not scripted, all i can say that Shivangi is really stupid/challenged.

The whole thing did look scripted to me. If she is from a middle class family, common, how can anyone not know that you need tea leaves to make tea? Even if the girl has not entered the kitchen, she would have gone to the shop to buy the groceries once in a while.
If this is all made up for comedy sake, I feel a little sorry for the girl as I thought she looked hurt in the last episode. But cheer up Shivani, cooking is just another skill. You know as much about cooking as I know about knitting.. There is always a tomorrow !!

If the show is scripted, i still blame here - I would refuse to be shown dumb to such extreme ends on a national Television.

I am sure you know more about knitting than she knows about cooking though - A girl that doesn't know you don't soak beans with soap or what tea leaves are called, well what can i say - will tomorrow come? 😆

I have to agree.. Thank you Janaki for making this post because everytime I watch NB6 and I see them making fun of Shivangi that's exactly what I think. Why is it unacceptable?

I'm in my 20's and regarding cooking..its not something I can do. I never seem to understand why in this generation its still a big deal that the girl doesn't know to cook. The fact that people are judging her for that and commenting on Ripu's Facebook saying that she's stupid just angers me. Using words such as stupid, dumb, etc ( not directed to anyone).. I mean this is a person here.. someone who has real feelings and might be reading these comments. I think its not fair to her that she is being judged just because she can't cook. I feel like in this day and age it shouldn't matter.. it shouldn't matter that the guy can cook and the girl can't.

(I hope what I wrote makes sense)

But how is tea crucial to survival? Shivangi did say she knew how to make a sandwich, but tea is not as easy as it looks. You need to boil the leaves just right or else it can turn out very bland. The way Shivangi is being portrayed as incompetent because she does not know how to cook is pretty bad.
In a relationship, I don't think it's necessary for both partners to know how to cook. If one does the cooking, the other could take care of another chore such as a cleaning. Since Ripu is such a wonderful chef, I don't think it's a big deal that Shivangi doesn't know how to cook, because Ripu is there to take care of their culinary needs. If neither knew how to cook that could be a problem, but that's not the case in Ripu-Shivangi's relationship.
Btw, I don't think it's very nice to use the words stupid or challenged against someone, because everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and cooking is Shivangi's weakness, just as knitting or drawing may someone else's. That doesn't make her stupid.

I don't think tea or rajma are the basics of survival. I didn't know how to make tea until a few years ago. It's just something my mom and sister always did, plus I use tea powder and not tea leaves. I don't even know if that's the same thing. I really don't think I'm challenged and neither is Shivangi.

I would also like to randomly point out that Shivangi said by washing the beans with "soap" she meant did you just have to wash them normally or in some special way.

I didn't think I would be talking about this in NB forum 😆

^ Janu and Aish.. I totally agree with both of you. What someone can and cannot do should not be judged by others. I also can make tea and maggi.. and those are literally the only the few things I can make. I learned how to make tea a few years ago and even then sometimes I mess up. Just because I can't cook doesn't mean I deserve to be called stupid, neither does Shivangi or anyone else. As Janu said everyone relationship or separate has their strengths and weaknesses.. it shouldn't matter..no one should be judged and it angers me that to this day we live in a society where people cannot be themselves without being judged

I know right! And this is Nach Baliye, where it should be all about dancing. But it's not. I see so many posts in which the contestants are judged for other reasons.

btw I can make Maggi too! :D

exactly! I see so many posts too regarding contestants being judged for various different things. Sometimes its like why aren't they focusing on the dance concept? I mean its NB6.. the focus should be on the technique and the concept of the dances. But instead its sometimes about judging contestants on things such as Shivangi can't cook, etc.

PS: Omg yay:D I love making Maggi its literally my go to food when I have exams to study for lol
