Shweta Tiwari and Raja Chaudhary
Shweta-Raja bow out of 'Nach Baliye'

Shweta Tiwari and Raja Chaudhary, who scored a perfect 30 in their very first performance on 'Nach Baliye2' (Star One), have had to exit the show following Raja' s inability to turn up for the performance. The episode will air next Monday.

An ailing Raja has been admitted to the Arogyanidhi Hospital in Juhu after being diagnosed having a liver infection. Raja, who had shown tremendous improvement in his dancing skills as he matched steps with actor spouse Shweta, has been battling the infection for some days now. But his condition worsened earlier this week and he had to be hospitalised.

The couple was hoping that he would be well enough to join Shweta for the performance yesterday.

Doctors, however, could not give Raja the permission to leave the hospital for the show, and Shweta went ahead and performed the 'Dhol Bajne Laga' number on her own, accompanied by her choreographer, Sagar. She left the sets soon after the performance.

Raja's soundbytes, recorded at the hospital, were also played during the shooting of the episode. Sources say that Raja broke down on camera. He knew that they would be disqualified after Shweta gave a solo performance. On watching the recording, Shweta too, started crying, sources say.

Just last week, an escatic Shweta had said that it was all due to Raja's perseverance that the couple had been able to put up a strong performance and re-enter the dance talent contest in the wild card episode. "We were afraid that all the other couples would have gone far ahead in their capabilities and that we would lag behind. We put in extra effort, thanks to Raja's determination, and here we are!" she had exulted last week.

Sadly, the euphoria turned out to be shortlived. Citing that the doctor had asked Raja to take complete bed rest for two months, the duo took a call to withdraw from the contest. Neither the couple nor the choreographer were available for comment.

i guess i have been really tough in my judgement of some of these stars..i am surprised at myself too..but I have a reason

i have just finished watching "lilchamps"..i have seen these little kids from small towns behave so gracefully..none jumped up and down on getting top grades nor did they bawl on being scolded..some shed a few tears on being voted out..end to their short lived fame on TV(in 99% cases)..they have so much to lose and desperately need the money too....same goes for contestants barely out of their teens in shows like indianidol FG,SRGMP.theydont have any prior experience ontelevision..
these stars are veterans..

shweta is one of the 3 most powerful actors(after parvathi and tulsi)on television..GHT may be popular but nowhere close in stature...these stars will continue to rule the television with their shows for years to come..IS this just an ego trip or oneupmanship for these stars 😕

Ankita, I concur with ur views.

When the NB started, (last year) it was indeed a delight to be seeing the stars who come on the shows in a "real" show, where they are not their characters but their true persona.... with their real life spouses, not the on screen jodi....

It was evident that not all of them were dancers, some were, some werent. Some more popular, some not. For eg. Last year, Varun wasnt really as popular as Parmeet Sethi and Apurva Agnihotri (both of Jassi fame) their spouses were equally popular and Rajeshwari was not. But the duo of Varun and Rajeshwari won our hearts with their dance performances, their simplicity, modesty and decorum on stage. The same was with most of the stars last year.

This year, somehow, the whole thing changed and the "real" was also not appearing to be so "real". This seemed equally scripted as the other shows.

In this, those who behaved normally or appeared to have behaved normally are the ones who have really caught on the public fancy. Putting Hiten and Gauri aside for a moment (they have a huge fan following anyway), Hussain and Tina have really won the hearts of many, same goes for Shweta and Manav. They are exuberant on stage, they do laugh and cry as well, but with a quiet dignity.

Unfortunately, for some reason, Shweta Tiwari ended up looking like she just came from the sets of KZK.

I remember the first few episodes of KZK (in fact one of the few episodes I watched) where the character of Prerna was introduced. She comes in a simple dress and she had just redecorated the room of "Anurag Basu" in a purple or some other such colour, which formed the basis of a fight which was the introduction of the lead pair in the show. The simplicity in her caught our eyes, but over the years, as the show progressed, she changed from that person to a completely different person... and somewhere this appears to have rubbed off on her performance in NB too. I just wish they would be more graceful, instead of so much drama and theatrics all the time.

Hope Raja recovers soon.
