CHAPTER 15
NEIL POV
"We are here, have no trouble." I said opening the door before Aditya. Walking toward Avni, sitting in the nearest seat to her, usko bhi shift karke Avni ke aur paas.
"Ms. Avni lets start this meeting as we were meant to be." I said in a normal tone.
She was staring at me and analyzing my every move and face as if to decipher me. I was also a top cop, inwardly smirking and enjoying her discomfort.
"Aditya show them what we got on our hands." She said in a bossy tone, hhmm the look on her face while bossing around looks so sexy. Those lips curved as she pursed them together, I wish could kiss them.
But meri daydreaming was interrupted by Aditya stating facts and sources of loss seen and how they circled out as suspect, which was same as ours.
"So. As you can see what my company facing maybe we could help each other in this situation?" she said as Aditya took his seat ending demonstrating.
'My company'??
"What you are dealing is just a figment of what we are dealing. This is a drug dealing gang whose leader is Ragu Pandit, a wanted criminal does many illegal work but our focus is to break this drug dealing chain first. They operate in a chain of pharms co.'s threating the vulnerable heads of productions or any high post employee with access to products and capital to supply them drugs and money."
"Oh. Shit" Aditya exclaimed forgetting the place then muttering a quick "sorry."
Connecting the dots now, Avni "You're saying that Jaikar this branch's head of production is being threatened and is giving out this company share of productions and money to a drug gang." She put her thinking face for a while, which was cute by the way.
"And the victim of this here is Jaikar and the company."
"No. here the victim is the company of its employee for not following the protocols."
"I'm going to fire him and put a lawsuit on him for going against company policies. That's for sure." She said. Aur mere dimaag phir alag frequency pe chal raha tha. She looked so good threatening others.
But work ki frequency pe tone karte ke "No. You can't do that now but later. Jaikar is here a weak link for us to the gang. We have to bring him in." I said firmly.
"You can't and won't tell me what I do with my employees Mr. Neil Khanna. I can fire them anytime I want and to sort this mess of company fast I will do just that." She argued firmly.
"I don't want to stay here for long, anyways." She murmured under her breath but I heard her and for a second my heart wanted to shout but that can't happen or Avni to going away again. I have to delay it so I can find my chance.
"Mrs. Avni Ayesha Khanna I can very well can stop you from doing that, by bringing this company and Jaikar in active investigation and you will be struck here for ages." Using her full name, which was just the last straw for her and that too with being struck here. Ha I know to play my cards well.
She was fuming, her face flushed and jaw clenched but she had master's business degree from London for nothing. She knew I was baiting her and she can't be caught so she turned the question.
"So. What's your master plan IPS officer?" she said mocking me.
"Our police department is finding evidences on Jaikar for involvement in drug deal for some dirt on him. So we can turn him into kind of a double agent for us against gang."
"And what our profit in this? Our negative publicity and a case of corruption in court with a drug dealing gang involved." She asked in a sarcastic tone.
"No. As I'm in charge of case I'm keeping your company off case as another case for no suspicions from gang for now and we're going to give you all evidences and leads to put a lawsuit on Jaikar as you were going to do. But your case will be bulletproof."
She weighed pros and cons for the deal and finally "Fine. I don't want press or uniformed police walking in this building." Adding her own condition.
"Deal." I extended my hand for a handshake. At least I could touch her hand if not hugging her. Patience. But she looked at my hand and then face and smirked, collected her files in her hands.
"We will meet again on 20th of this month till then we work separately and till then I don't know you." Getting up and giving the files to Aditya
"Send these to the driver to keep them in car and tell him to come at entrance." "And I want to speak with you in your office." Telling Aditya She closed the door.
"Good day. Officer." Saying his greeting, Aditya too leaved the room to catch up with his boss.
I again took my seat putting my forehead on table. Kya karo? Iss ladki se kaise kaho ki kitna pyaar Karta ho? Ki nahi kiya maine kiski aur se pyaar?
Remembering that not only he was waiting for Avni to comeback but others too. He stood up to go and tell all his family that their Bhacha, his wifey and their ladli bahu is back.
AVNI POV
As if I didn't know my full name and my so-called failure of marriage. He had to remind me. I could murder him right there. As if I was the one with an extra martial affair. Riya ke sath phir mujhe se.
Plus cutting my plan of early escape with his policegiri. Haad hogayi. Sab police wale ek jaise hote he. Slow motion workers and giving me what? Evidences that I could find myself. I know him he was enjoying himself seeing me in torment. Samjhta kya he apne ko?

Entering Aditya's office only for few seconds "We will build the case for lawsuit along with the ongoing investigation. Find some suitable candidates and this time run full background check for the post of head of the production."
"Ji. Ma'am. I will personally sort this out. And your car waiting outside."
"Your efforts will be appreciated, Aditya and Thank you" "Good day. Aditya."
I needed Ash but as much I needed him I needed some alone time to set peace with this mess which was my mind and heart aur Ma ke paas jaane se acha kya ho sakta he. Woh humse mera sahaara bani rahi bina judge kiye.

My phone vibrated with a text from Aman 'Di. Aap kahaan ho? Hum mere loft pe he. Yeh raha address___. Ash is sleepy.'
Kya kar rahi he Avni? Toh akeli nahi. Ash bhi he uska khayal kyun rakhe ga tu aisa karegi. Chal thik kar apne ko. You have to be strong. Papa ka superstar remembering her father. Wiping my face, cleaning the tear tracks that formed.
Aman's loft was in the neighborhood of Chamkoo caf but I wasn't ready for any more reunions. But I couldn't help but ask driver to go slow while passing the caf to see if it changed.
No, it was same except for its small up gradations but my eyes went didn't went for the decorations at gate but a happy couple exiting the caf and my blood boiled as much I wanted to tell driver to speed away but I couldn't. They were very happy as if they got the best news.
Neil was laughing carefree and his face was all lit up and smile reaching his eyes and so was the girl by his side, Rhia.
Kya baat karni thi Neil ko mujhse? Apni second marriage ki? Humare divorce ki?
I told the driver to speed away. Reaching the loft, it was silent and Aman opened the door.
Inside it was furnished quite well for a bachelor, which had its own privacy and subtle nature.
"Di, Ash ko bahut neend aa rahi thi toh Maine use apne bed pe soola diya he."
"Thank you Aman me tere bina kya karti aaj, me bhi nahi jaanti." hugging him as tears came once again.
"Di aap thik toh hona? Aap ki meeting kaisi gayi? Sab thik?" he said snaking his arms around me noticing my voice filled with tears, walking us to the couch.
"Nahi Aman kuch thik nahi he." breaking the hug I said.
"Ab muje har din dekhna padegi uss. Har din dekho gi ki khush he woh par Kisi aur ke sath." I said hugging my knees now.
"Kyun di? Aap roh mat aap kar lo ge manage, aap bahut strong ho jo koi bhi aap ko kya?"
"Nahi chati rona but kya karo? Neil ab jo har roz company mere aur ird gird ghume ga. Kya karoo maine?"
"Di. Aap ko Jiju se baat karni chahiye and unhe bahut kuch kehna apse bas ek baar par me aap ko force nahi karoo ga Aur aap ek bahut strong woman ho and for proof you have Ash and don't let anyone tell you or make you feel different."
"Tu kab saint Aman ban gaya?" teasing him to lift off the gloomy mood.
"Tum bahut badal gaya he Aman aur me bahut proud ho aur ma bhi hoti."
"Bas di muje apni ek loti di ka Aman bana tha aur Ayesha ma ka bhi."
"Amol was so old fashioned and yesterday." he joked.
"Acha khaana khaya tumhne?" ek achi behn ki tarah I asked.
"Nahi, wahi kuch junk food khaya tha."
"Chal Koi nahi me khilati ho proper meal."
"Aap aur proper khaana? Pooha ke alava kuch aata he?" he asked smirking.
"Acha beta aisa kuch bhi nahi he. Tujhe abhi 30min me khilati ho ki kya mey bana ti ho Pooha ke alava."
I made his favorite dish and roti all in 30minute and Aman's face was a masterpiece when he saw it even I clicked his pic for later use. Ash also woke up and we had dinner and were full. We Ash and I took our leave for hotel with promise from us to meet again and from Aman no word of Ash outside to anyone.
NEIL POV
From the office building, exiting was Avni in her confident stride walking away from me, in hurry she didn't notice me as her car came and she climbed in and speeded away to her destination.
Maybe I could follow her but no, that could blow up my chance of redemption if Avni caught me.
So, I drove first to Neela Ma's house to stop having second thoughts of turning and following her.
"NEELA MA." "NEELA MA. Kaha ho?" I called out.
Descending the stairs with a novel in hand, she came somewhat rushing
Down "Kya ho gaya Neil, tum thik ho na?"
"Me kabhi aur acha nahi tha, pata he apko mujhe kyun mila aaj woh meeting me jis ke bare me apko?" creating suspense for her.
"Neil ghuma ke kyu bata rahe ho? Ache se aur sidhe se batao."
"Neela ma mujhe AVNI mil gayi." I said hugging her.
"Kya? Neil? Avni? Meeting me?" she asked not believing or confused beyond. "Kya keh rahe ho?"
"Ha. Neela ma Avni apka Bhacha aur meri wifey yaad aya. Woh aaj mujhe Sage ke meeting room me mili and she was there on business for company? Her company? As in boss."
"Avni Sage Co. me boss? Tumne usse baat ki na Neil? Bolo na." still trying to piece things together.
Remembering my failure at the said task, I signed defeated "Nahi. Ma."
"Kyu Bhacha?" she asked surprised as she knew that that first thing I would do.
"Woh mujse nahi karna chahti baat even sunana bhi nahi chahti. Kaise kaho sab usse jab mujhe aisa cold attitude aur ignore deti he?"
"Uffo. Neil it her coping mechanism to the situation and you have to find her weak spot to talk to her. She can be very stuburn when she wants. You shouldn't take defeat."
"How said I took defeat, I am just fine because after so much time I wanted to have, maybe a warm meet? Not plans for escaping me."
"WHAT. She is leaving again. NEIL yeh kaise hone de sakte ho tum?"
"Nahi aisa kuch nahi ho raha he abhi ke liye, I delayed it."
"Oh. Thank god. So I can meet her now and maybe change her mind."
"Ya. But I don't think so she will listen to you how is in favor of me. So don't bother about me I will sort it out myself."
"Par... acha thik he." She said smiling.
"Tumhe maloom he ki woh kaha roki he? Hotel? Flat? House?"
"I think she is staying in a hotel but I don't know which but I will find out soon."
"Chalo thik he. Tumne khaana khaya?"
"Nahi Neela Ma par me caf ja raha ho Ali ko batane wahi kuch khalo ga."
"Thik he aur Neil tell me fast her hotel name. I miss my bhacha."
"Ji. Neela ma. Bye."
Reaching Chamkoo caf I strode there happily for the first time with a gaint smile on my face that the most people how see me daily were surprised to find my face different from serious for once.
Maybe I was looking stupid with that goofy smile but whatever. I was happy.
Searching for Ali, but I couldn't find him but in his place spotted Rhia taking orders at a table. Approaching it "Rhia?" she turned surprised to find me talking to her as I didn't talk to her most of the times.
"Tumne Ali ko dekha? Woh kaha he?"
"Neil woh Ali ek caf ki deal se gaya he. Kyu kuch hoya kya? Ssb thik he na? Tum bahut khush dikh rahe ho."
"Rhia, we should be happy. Muje Avni mil gayi aaj woh wapus aa gayi he."
Listening this Rhia face too lit up. "Sach!!! I'm so happy for you. Now I can finally mend it all and ask forgiveness."
Scratching my neck "Ah. I don't think so Rhia that is happening anytime soon."
"Kyu Neil?" her face confused and frowned.
"Woh mujhe se baat nahi karna chahti toh phir tumhara toh sawal hi nahi banta." I replied awkwardly.
"Koi nahi Neil she will talk to you soon. Then I wil have my chance too. Lets go and meet Ali in the restrantrent in which he is and surprise him with the news."
"Yup. Great idea. He is dying to marry you maybe now with Avni back maybe he can tie Avni in ropes and make her listen and forgive me and you. And then marry you finally." I joked and laughed for the first time in so long fully enjoying the picture I created of Avni.
Rhia too laughed at my joke as she handed over to the staff to manage the caf and walked with me to the car.
Unknown to the fact a set of eyes were watching them, filled with betrayal, and doubt and many emotion including an emotion she couldn't bury. Love.
Ali reaction was same as other just with more dramatic and funny and Rhia even clicked pictures to tease him later of his expressions.
We enjoyed a friend's night out with hope that soon a dear friend missing will be there too. We made funny plans and strategies to lure or capture Avni to make her listen and talk with us. Finally went our separated ways to start new after exhausting yet fulfilling day.
Some one knocked my apartment. It was late in night.Who can it be? Thinking this I opened my door.
Surprising me, one I didn't expect. Avni. But this late?
I asked concerned "Avni tum yahaan aur andar aao bahar kyu ho?" opening the door more wide for her to enter.
"Mujhe tumse baat karni he."
"Muje bhi karni he par tum pahle kahe do?"
"Nahi tum karlo, me baad me keh dogi."
I was presented an opportunity to talk to her and I wouldn't miss it.
"Avni jo bhi hoa 2 saal pahle I'm sorry. Mujhe nahi maloom ki me kiski maagi maango tumse? Maine tumhari baat nahi suni uss din ya maine nahi kaha ki me tumse kitna pyaar karta ho? Par I'm clearing this out for you ki mera kisi ke sath kabhi affair nahi chal raha tha. Maine sirf tumhse hi pyaar kiya he shaadi ke baad aur kisi se nahi."
"Neil. I didn't know about the truth behind the affair aur maine bhi tumse pyaar kiya he." I was so happy that I just hugged her listening her confession but she broke away from my arms.
Wiping away her tears and taking a serious face again but staring downwards "I love you. But I loved you as lover 2 years ago now I can't. I don't love you as lover but as a friend. I love someone else. We were never meant to be together Neil. We were fake."
"I'm sorry."
I woke up in cold sweat breathing hard. What the hell!!!
It was just a dream, no a nightmare worse then any. Just a nightmare.
But it was just so real. I could literally hear my heart it was beating so fast.
Getting up to drink some water to calm myself down.
Its was early in the morning and now I couldn't sleep after such nightmare, and my mind was struck on one line of dream Avni said I don't love you anymore. I love someone else.'
