Chapter 26
Jay came up the balcony and saw Bani sleeping in Veer's arms. The two were in deep sleep to notice anything. His jealousy picked up at that point. Veer's wings wrapped around her like a blanket. Jay himself felt cold. His woollen jacket wasn't helping much either. I knew it.
Bani was peacefully wrapped up in his comforting and warm embrace.
"Kyu, Bani, kyu? Aisa kya hai iss Veer mein jo mujh mein nahi hai? Tum aur main ek dusre ke liye bane the. Phir kyu iss cheel ke beech mein aane se sabh barbaad ho raha hai. Tumne mujhse kaha tha tumhari shaadi ke party ke din ki tum apna badla pura karke aa jaaogi mere paas phir yeh suddenly change in plan kyu, Bani?" Jay asked a sleeping Bani. She was too deep in sleep to hear anything.
"Tumhe main kaise samjhau yeh samajh hi nahi aa raha hai, Bani. Main maanta hun ki mujhe bohot badi bhul hui hai par abh usse sudharna bhi toh chahta hun. Kya mera takatwar banne ka sapna dekhna galat hai? Main tumhare level tak pohochna chahta hun, kya yeh galat hai? Main yeh prove karna chahta hun ki main bhi bohot great hun, yeh galat hai?" Jay questioned.
"Jise dekho ek hi dhun gaata hai. Aakesh Nageshwari Hriday. Kyu, Bani? Nageshwari ke naam ke aage Hriday ki jagah Aakesh kyu hai? Sabh aise bolte rehte hai. Naaglok mein bhi. Aakesh Nageshwari. Par jab meri baat aati toh woh Nageshwari Hriday ho jaata hai. Kyu mera naam tumhare naam ke aage nahi ho sakta? Yeh kami khalti hai mujhe, Bani. Yeh yaad ki sabh aise hi baat karte hai. Aakesh aur Nageshwari. Tumhare naam ke aage humesha uska naam aata hai jabhi koi tum dono ki baat karta hai. Koi Nageshwari Aakesh nahi bolta par sab ke sab Nageshwari Hriday bolte hai. Yeh kaha ka insaaf hai, Bani. Mujhe gussa nahi aayega toh aur kya hoga?" Jay tried to explain to her.
Veer got disturbed as heard someone speaking. He recognized Jay's voice but decided to stay quiet.
"Main Adi-Naag aur tum Adi-Naagin. Hum dono perfect hai, Bani. Hum dono ki parvarish ek jaisi hai. Hum dono ke family situations ek jaise hai. Tumhari family ko bhi main acceptable hun. Naaglok mein kabhi aisa nahi hota ki koi Naagin ek cheel se pyaar kar le. Bas ek baar, Bani, ek baar phir se mujh par yakeen kar lo. I promise ki main iss baar sabh kuch sahi tareeke se karunga. Mujhe accha nahi lagta tumhe Veer ke saath dekhke. Har baar yeh Veeranshu beech mein aa jaata hai. Main maanta hun, Bani. Aaj bhi mujhe bohot takatwar banna hai par mujhe tum bhi chahiye. Adi-Naag aur Adi-Naagin banke hum dono sabse takatwar ban sakte hai."
Veer clenched his fists but calmed himself before he broke out into a reaction. He didn't let Jay think that he was awake. Bani was still sleeping and if he moved, she'd get awake. Under the wraps of the wings, Veer held her a little more closer to him. Veer felt Jay's hand on his wing, almost where Bani's shoulder was under his wing. A pinch of jealousy pouring into him. Bani was his wife. She was sleeping in his embrace and Jay trying to enter between them didn't sit well with Veer. Veer moved his wing a bit. Almost making it seem like he was moving in his sleep. It pushed away Jay's hand.
"Dekho. Neend mein bhi mujhe tumhare kareeb nahi aane de raha hai." Jay complained.
'Neend mein kya, dhabewale, main tujhe kabhi Bani ke close nahi aane dunga. Bani meri biwi hai. Meri patni hai.' Veer said in his mind.
Bani's head snuggled closer onto his shoulder. Almost hiding into the space between his neck and shoulder. His scent oddly gave her a kind of comfort. Like she could sleep carelessly without having to watch her back even while sleeping.
The morning came, softly caressing the sleeping couple. The sunrise slowly waking them up. Bani blinked a few minutes before actually waking up. She found herself wrapped up comfortably in his arms. He was fast asleep. She brushed away the hair on that was falling on his face. He looked adorable as he slept. She let herself admire his soft features. Bani noted the V brooch on his shirt. His feet were popped up on the coffee table. He held her close to him as if protecting her. She gave a small peck on his cheeks while he was sound asleep.
The music was still being played.
"I know tum wait kar rahe ho ki kabh main tumhe tumhare sawaal ka jawaab dun but iss sawaal ka jawaab toh main khud bhi dundh rahi hun, Veer. Mujhe pata hai ki tum mere liye bohot important ho. Tumhare saath rehke accha lagta hai par phir darr bhi lagta. Kahin phir se dhoka na mil jaaye. Kisi ko apna banane ke itne kareeb aake use khone ka dard mujhse bardash nahi hoga. Especially if it is you."
She felt the soft rise and fall of his chest. His shirt was open down till his torso.
"Ek toh apni shirt theek se nahi pehente. Jab itne saare buttons kholke hi rakhne hai toh shirt hi kyu pehente ho?" Bani chided a sleeping Veer and closed the buttons on his shirt. He woke up as he felt fingers over his chest.
"Sweetheart...." He mocked a reaction, putting his hand over his chest. "Mere sone ka galat fayda utha rahi ho.."
"SHut up. Aisa kuch nahi hai. Main sirf tumhari shirt ke buttons band kar rahi thi."
"Abh cover up mat karo. Mujhe pata hai tum mere saath kuch kuch karna chahti thi."
"Veeranshu, tum na...." She groaned and got up. He grabbed her hand and pulled her over him. She landed on top of him.
"Waise, thodi shararat karni thi toh utha deti mujhe. Main bhi join kar leta." His eyes teased her.
"Aisa kuch nahi hai. Main sirf tumhare shirt ke buttons band kar rahi thi."
"Kyu? Control nahi hua mere hot aur sexy self ko dekhke? Niyat phisal rahi thi?"
"Main andar jaa rahi hun. Tumhe jo sochna hai socho." She complained.
"Waise yeh kaafi acchi subah rahi. Tum yahan ho mere saath, puri raat tum mujhe pakad kar soyi thi. Subah bhi mere paas hi thi. Aur abh, sunrise..." He pointed out. The two watched the sunrise.
Everyone gathered down in the living room for breakfast. Daksh and Ponky were both holding their heads.
"Aaaahhh.." Ponky groaned. Tapish passed a glass of juice and a tablet. Sam returned from his morning exercise. Tapish put up his omelette.
"Good morning, guys." He greeted them. Mehek Dehek were both groaning holding their heads. Ponky passed the medicine.
"Yeh kha lo. Hangover thoda sa theek ho jaayega." Ponky told them.
"Good morning." Everyone greeted Sam. Sam sat down next to Balwant. Everyone was doing well at the hour of the morning, eating their breakfast while chatting up. Until Chandrakala showed up at the breakfast table. Silence fell over the table.
"Good morning." She said.
"Tumhare aane se kuch good nahi ho sakta hai." Balwant muttered.
"Uff, Balwant. Kabhi toh meetha bola karo. Subah subah kadwa bologe toh pura din kharab jaayega."
"Dad, ignore karo. Let her be. Abhi argument shuru nahi karte hai. My morning so far has gone well. let's not ruin it with argument." Veer calmed down Balwant.
"Veer, aaj tere business partners ke saath meeting hai. Clubs ke new openings aur extension ke related." Tapish told Veer. He nodded.
"Main baat kar lunga." Veer assured.
Veer finished his breakfast and went upstairs. He came across Chandrakala in the corridor.
"Kya baat hai, Veer? Abh good morning bhi nahi bologe apni maa ko?" She asked him.
"Just shut up. Tu meri maa nahi hai. Don't try to be her. Sabh kuch toh le liya na mom ka? Aur kya chahiye?" Veer asked.
"Ek baat batao, Veer, aisa kya kiya hai Bani ne tumhare liye ki tum uspar utna jaan chidak rahe ho. Yeh tak nahi bata paayi ki uski life mein tumhari importance kya hai yeh nahi bata paayi. Par agar Jay yahi baat puche toh woh jawaab degi ki Jay uska sabse accha dost hai. She's clear on where he stands in her life but same tumhare liye nahi hai." She tried to instigate him.
"Tum mere aur Bani ke beech mein kuch na hi bolo to sahi hoga." Veer warned her and walked away. Chandrakala knew she had just fuelled the insecurity in Veer.
The morning and afternoon went busy. Bani and Daksh sat together trying to decode the scroll and get the information out of it. Daksh had progressed quite a lot since they got it from the island. Veer attended the meeting with his business associates. By the evening, all of them were tired. Veer had just entered the room as Bani was trying understand the contents of the scroll.
“Veer bhai!!!” Ponky shouted loudly. Veer ran down the stairs as he heard Ponky's scared shout.
“Veer bhai, Sam just suddenly flew away without a warning. Daksh bhai aur Tapish bhai uske peeche gaye hai. I’m sure usne kuch dekha hai.” He told Veer when he reached there.
“Chal..” Veer told Ponky. They quickly turned into their cheel form and flew away.
By the time Veer and Ponky reached, they were at the docks. With his was a suparn that Veer didn't recognize.
"Advait, theek ho?" Sam asked.
"Veer, jaao. Niklo..." Advait shouted at Veer.
"Excuse me? main -" Veer felt such a force clash against him that every inch of his body was screaming with pain. "Aaaaarrrrgghh...." Veer's shout almost rang around the whole place. The pain was insane. Like every cell of his body was fighting against the force.
"Veeranshu..." He heard a voice.
"Who's that? Kon hai?" Veer asked. Everything blacked out. He almost couldn't breathe. His chest felt like it carried a weight of 80 tonns. He heard whistling. It was specific tune of whistling. Nothing like how generally boys whistle. No. It was different. A tune like whistle.
Veer slowly managed to see something. He found himself in a place he recognized from his memories as Aakesh. The place before the pantheon temple. It was an arena. Large boulders near by. The familiar place on the island. Aakesh's mother used to take him there before she was killed by cheel rebels.
Slowly forming a visible form, Markaat appeared.
"Hum yahan kaise?"
"We're not exactly on the island, Veer. Hum dono tumhare andar hi hain. 12,000 divya varsho ke intezaar ke baad yeh ghadi aayi hai."
Veer slowly realized what it meant.
"Markaat?"
"Mujhe pata hi tha ki tum pehchaan loge mujhe."
Veer started struggling. It almost shook the place. Markaat stumbled. Temper flared in his eyes. Veer was slipping from the cracks and regaining control on himself. Veer could see what was happening on the outside but it seemed like there was control.
Advait sent out a cry in the sky. Soon, several suparns appeared in the sky and landed before Veer. Markaat looked at them, a malicious grin on his face.
"Maar do ise." One of the suparns said about Veer. Veer's own animalistic instincts kicked in. He gave a warning cry. Markaat laughed.
"In bewakoofo ko kitna bhi samjhalo, yeh samajhte hi nahi hai. Aise warning dene se kuch nahi hoga." Markaat commented. Markaat took control over Veer's physical form. The speed that came from Veer's body was crazy. Markaat felt such a high at being out of the chains. The daggers in his hand made him feel estatic. He dodged through the attacks of the suparns and slashed the dagger through vital organs of suparns. He grabbed the back of the head of one of the suparns and snapped it like it was chicken's neck. Blood spilled over his clothes. EVen the blackness of the outfit couldn't cover up all the blood.
Tapish shook in shock. Sam felt fear seep though him.
"We have to stop him." Sam stuttered to his brothers.
Veer grabbed his head inside to make himself stop from that insane violence. He was feeling angry himself. Sam pushed him behind before he attacked Advait.
"Run. Udo." Tapish told Advait.
"Tumhari jaan pa ban aayi hai. Jaldi se yaha se niklo." Daksh added. Advait nodded and flew away as fast as he could.
"Arrey arrey. Kya. Aaj thoda shikaar karne ke mood mein tha." Markaat said.
Sam and Tapish stood before him.
"Noo... nahii..." Veer shouted as he saw his brothers.
"Veer, kya kar raha hai? Pagal ho gaya hai kya?" Tapish asked him. He couldn't understand what was affecting Veer.
Daksh took up and attacked Veer, tackling him on the floor.
"Daksh..." Veer shouted but Markaat took control and kicked away Daksh. He crashed against a shipping container. Ribs broken.
Markaat opened up the wings and flew towards Daksh. The fight was vicious. Markaat was about to punch the life out of him when Veer's control didn't let the punch land on Daksh.
"Bhai hai woh mera...." Veer's shout was so loud that it stumbled Markaat. Tapish quickly grabbed Daksh away.
"Akele hum kuch nahi kar sakte." Tapish told him. "Saath mein aao."
Sam took charge and grabbed Veer in a headlock while twisting Veer's one arm behind. Veer struggled. Daksh grabbed the other arm. Ponky and Tapish grabbed his legs. Fluttering open their wings, they all flew up together while holding Veer. It was like eagles grabbing their prey and the prey doing best to escape. They couldn't make the mistake of letting go off the hold on Veer. They flew towards the cheel caves.
"Tapish bhai...." Veer tried to tell his brother.
"Veer, tu control mein nahi hai. Jab tak theek nahi ho jaaye tujhe nahi chod sakte." Tapish tried to tell his brother, steeling his own emotions not to melt at his brother's cried.
"Nikalo yaha se..." Markaat growled. He didn't want to be chained again. He refused to let that happen. The brothers and Veer fought against each other while they tried to tie up Veer.
"Veer bhai, baat ko samjho..." Sam tried to explain to his brother.
Back at the Singhania Mansion, Bani was worried since the boys hadn't returned yet.
“Chachu, kya hua tha?” Bani asked.
“Main, Tapish, Bhaisaab aur Sam yahan poker khel rahe the. Everything was fine. Suddenly, Sam ekdum se ruk gaya. He froze up like he was feeling something. Aur phir woh bas udd gaya. Na toh kuch kaha, nahi hi kuch bola, bas udke chala gaya.” Chachu told her.
“Markaat..” Kakot commented.
“Kya kehna chahte ho? Yeh sabh Markaat ke wajah se hai?” Bani asked him.
“Samrat ne Markaat ko mehsoos kiya.” Kakot answered. “Chandrakala ki bewakoofi le aayi yeh raat.”
“Markaat?!” Chandrakala exclaimed.
“Tumne jaldi mein baat puri suni hi nahi. Apni chaal toh chal di, paglor, par ek baar saare pehluon par dhyaan karti toh samajh jaati ki yeh tumhara jo chaal jitna Bani ke liye khatra hai, usse zyaada toh tere liye hai.” Kakot commented. The temper flared in Bani’s eyes. She walked ahead towards Chandrakala.
“Kya kiya hai tune uske saath?” Bani demanded. Chandrakala pushed her away. Bani got up and grabbed her throat. Her grip on Chandrakala’s throat so strong that it began to choke her.
“Kya kiya hai tune? Mere bete ko kuch bhi hua, toh tu soch le. Itna bura haal karunga tera ki tu apni maut ki bheekh mangegi.” Balwant threatened her. Chandrakala kicked Bani away. Bani stood up, changing into her Naagin form.
Chandrakala was just about to see what Bani was capable of. She had messed at the wrong point. She just pressed where it hurt the most. The worst mistake is to threaten a injured snake. They’ll definitely attack and injure you.
“Bohot khel khel liya tune.” Bani warned. Everyone moved away from the way as they heard Bani’s tone. No one would dare to cross her path.
“Tu mujhse ladegi, Naagin? Main tujhse 1000 guna zyaada hun. Yeh toh raat hai, din bhi nahi. Tu kamzor hogi.”
Chandrakala threw a dagger at Bani but she just flipped it away. It cut her arm but not even word from Bani. It started healing on its own. Chandrakala attacked her. Bani turned and elbowed her. A bone crack was heard. It wasn’t Bani’s. A snake's trick is to target the vital organs. Bani attacked the gut. Chandrakala turned into her cheel form and attacked Bani. Bani hissed violently. She turned into a snake. That was so large that it almost touched the roof. She attacked Chandrakala’s cheel form. She crashes against the wall. She turns into a Naagin form and hisses at Bani’s own naagin form. It doesn’t scare her. Her red scales flashing danger.
Chandrakala took the half cheel and half naagin form, flying up in the air. Bani slithered up the floor and launched herself over Chandrakala, quickly coiling herself around the flying snake. The loud hissing resulted. Bani made herself large and large, making it physically heavy for Chandrakala to carry the weight. The balance was broken and she fell down to the ground. Bani was still strongly coiled around Chandrakala. Chandrakala tried to attack Bani in her snake form. She herself coiled around Bani hard to break her. She turned into her naagin form.
“Tu mujhse kabhi jeet nahi paayegi, Adi-Naagin.” Chandrakala challenged.
“Dekhte hai.” Bani replied. Bani launched a punch and threw Chandrakala away. Bani’s temper always made her more dangerous.
Everyone moved away from the spot, almost jumping over when they saw something around 12-14 snakes slither into the room out of nowhere. They coiled around Chandrakala, hissing violently. The deathly grip that was
“Aaj lagta hai ki yeh mar gayi.” Kakot commented. The snakes slowly coiling hard almost cutting the blood flow. No regular snake has the ability to break through the bones of a person but they simply block the blood flow and clog the blood vessels. Only ones who can manage that amount of pressure to break through bones was Naag-Naagins. It requires one hell of strength to do that. The snakes were cutting off the blood flow. Bani looked animalistic. Like a snake ready for the kill.
Chandrakala felt panic in that moment. Bani was too powerful for Chandrakala to overwhelm her in that moment. Chandrakala couldn’t control the snakes even though she was herself a half naagin. She can’t override Bani's command to them. Adi-Naagin was one of the most powerful Naagins to encounter. Every single naag-naagin and snakes in the world would bow down before her. She was herself constricting Bani but yet herself felt danger. There was no amount of fear in Bani.
“Ek baat aaj seekh hi lo, Chandrakala, kisi ko itna gussa na dilao ki kuch khone ka darr hi mit jaaye. Especially not me. Mera gussa normal nahi hota hai. Aag se khelna nahi chahiye jab tum khud us aag se jal sakti ho.” Bani threatened. Chandrakala uncoiled herself from Bani and threw her away. She tried to run. Balwant and Pawan blocked the way.
“Bhaag kar kya karogi, Chandrakala? Face karo apni maut karo.” Balwant taunted her.
“Hat jaao, Balwant.” She growled at him. Bani grabbed the back of her and turned her around. She punched her and Chandrakala fell down.
Jay took his Naag form and tried to give her a threat.
“Jay, tum bete ho mere.” Chandrakala tried to remind him.
“Tu maa nahi ho sakti. Tu bas faayda uthane wali aurat hai. Nah toh kisi se pyaar aur na toh kisi se wafa kar sakti ho. Aaj jab haal bura ho gaya toh yaad aaya ki main beta hun tumhara?” Jay asked. “Us din jab mujhpe hamla kiya tha tab yaad nahi aaya?”
“Tumhe maara nahi. Tumhe is Adi-Naagin se bachaya tha.” Chandrakala argued.
“Bani waise bhi mujhe nahi maarti. Maine use dhoka diya phir bhi usne meri izzat ki hai.” Jay reminded her.
“Aaj tu bhaag ke dikha, Chandrakala.” Bani roared. The silhouette of the seven headed infamous Sheshnaag behind Bani as she roared loudly. It overwhelmed Chandrakala in that moment. She had assumed herself to be a dangerous but she would be nothing before the Snake God from whom Bani descended.
She instantly escaped away by turning into dust.
“Wapas aa…” Bani roared angrily.
“Bani…” Meera tried to calm her down but the temper could not be matched.
“Bhabhi…” Bani turned around and saw the boys sans Veer.
“Veer kaha hai?” Balwant and Bani asked at the same time. They all looked at each other. Sam, Daksh and Tapish were more injured than Ponky but all four of them seemed like they got badly crashed in a fight.
“Dekh kya rahe ho? Bolo?” Balwant demanded.
“Veer thoda sa difficult state mein hai. Isiliye humne use thoda akele rakha hai. Jahan woh kisi ko harm nahi kar sakta.” Tapish answered carefully.
“Tapish bhai, woh koi chota bacha hai kya?” Bani asked.
“Bani, tum baat nahi samajh rahi ho.” Tapish tried to calm her.
“Tapish bhai, aap jiski baat kar rahe hai woh mera pati hai. Kisi gaay ke bachde ki tarah kahin band kar ke chale aaye?” Bani was outraged.
“Bani, pehle baat sun le. Pehle se hi toot padi.” Meera told her.
“Meera di, aap beech mein mat aaiye.” Bani answered a bit softly.
“Bani, woh toh bhai hai inka. Tujhe lagta hai woh aisa karna chahte hai?” Meera asked her.
“Isiliye mujhe bolne do.” Daksh commented. Daksh wasn’t someone to sugar coat things.
“Veer bhai ka khud pe se control toot gaya hai. He’s gone crazy. Day before yesterday jaise react kiya tha, usse bhi kaafi bura reaction tha. Veer bhai bohot buri tarah react kar rahe the. He's already killed four suparns. Isiliye wahan ek gufa mein unhe rakha hai.” Daksh told everyone. Silence fell on the room.
“Konsi gufa mein?” Bani demanded.
“Waha koi nahi jaayega.” Tapish told her.
“Tapish bhai, aap mujhe force nahi kar sakte. Woh mera pati hai. Agar koi problem hai toh main aise darr ke bhag nahi sakti.”
“Bani, ya toh tum is situation ki gehrai ko nahi samajh rahi ho ya toh tum actually mein bohot pagal ho gayi ho. Veer ka control phisal gaya hai. Hum sabh ek saath bhi use control kar nahi paaye hai. Tumhe lag raha ki yeh sabh mazaak hai?” Tapish was angry now. He never got angry but Bani being non-cooperative made him irritated.
“Tapish, calm down.” Meera tried to be the peace maker.
“Samjhao apni behen ko, Meera. Woh koi chota bacha nahi hai ki use behla phusla ke control kar le. Woh Veeranshu hai. Sabh usse darte hai toh uska reason hai.” Tapish told her.
“Bani, yaad karo Markaat ne kya kaha tha tumse.” Kakot pointed out. She turned to thecrow.
Chandrakala ki bewakoofi use mere paas laayegi.
“Markaat?” Bani asked.
“Nikal gaya bahar.” Kakot finished.
“Yeh possible kaise hai? Uski halat itni buri thi toh bahar kaise nikla?” Bani asked. “Yeh ho hi nahi sakta. Wahan toh khud bhagwan ne use kaid karke rakha hai.”
“Bhabhi, maine khud dekha tha. Advait almost mar jaata agar main time pe wahan nahi jaata toh. Aapne halat nahi dekhi uski. Veer bhai island ke aas paas bhi nahi the. Markaat nikal gaya wahaan se. Sirf uski body hai waha. No soul inside the body. Its like a dead body now.” Sam told her. “I felt it coming. I felt Advait in danger. Tabh pata chala ki Markaat nikal gaya tha kaid se toh Advait ne koshish ki use rokne ki but nikal aaya.”

Chapter 27
They all heard whistling. Daksh, Sam and Bani knew that whistling.
“Kon hai?” Balwant asked angrily.
“Markaat.” Bani answered. Her own heart beating a bit faster.
“Tch tch tch…” A familiar voice was heard. A cold shiver up her spine. Her hands shook. She could never mistake that voice. The sound of boots rang. It was her Veer's voice.
Veer showed up. Or rather Markaat in Veer’s body. He was in his cheel’s human form. Black clad. The handsome face marred with a malicious intent.
“Veer bhai??…” Ponky whispered.
“Chote, tu darta bohot hai. Cheel hai, koi chuha nahi. Seena taan ke khada hona seekh le.”He put his arm around Ponky. He went around the place. The same madness in the eyes but a malicious kind of madness. He opened his arms and stood up on the coffee table. He breathed loudly.
“Azaadi….” He exclaimed like a mad man. His eyes fixed on Bani.
“Nageshwari.... Dekh ke accha laga tumhe.” He said and laughed. It couldn’t be Veer. He never called her Nageshwari. He knew to call her Bani. “Arreey nahi woh kya accha lagta hai tumhe..… sweetheart…” He tasted the word on his tongue.
“Sweetheart. Tumhe kaafi accha lagta hai na yeh sunna, is awaaz mein?” He asked. He circled her like a typical eagle gliding around above its prey.
“Bhabhi se dur raho.” Daksh, Sam and Ponky defended Bani. Balwant and Pawan were surprised. Markaat's eyes fell on Balwant and Shukla. He strutted over to Balwant. Actually holding his arm and then looking at his hands. A large grin on his face. The feeling of finally feeling something physically. He had almost lost the ability to feel from touch after such long captivity.
“Balwant. Waah. Dekh ke accha laga tumhe. Pata hai? Aise bina kisi bediyon ke chalne mein kitna sukoon hai?”
“Tum Veer ko kabhi control nahi kar sakte.” Bani claimed. He turned around. “Veeranshu, please… mujhe pata hai ki tum ho waha, please yeh mat hone do.”
Violence flared in his eyes and he grabbed her by her throat. In a moment, she was free. Violence danced in his eyes and he moved his head like it was ticking. He looked at his hand that instantly set her free the moment he grabbed throat.
“Maun rahogi toh jeevit rahogi, Nageshwari. Warna tumhe mujhse koi nahi bacha sakta.Tumhare Shiv bhi mujhe nahi maar sakte.”
“Yeh tumhari galat fehmi hai. Unse toh tum ladne ki socho bhi mat.”
He laughed.
“Mujhe lagta hai, Nageshwari, tumne mujhe Chandrakala samjha hai. Main. Chandrakala ki tarah bewakoof nahi hoon. Mujhe pata hai ki Shiv or Narayan kya kar sakte hai. Aisi nasamjhi nahi karta main. Maine isiliye kaha ki Shiv bhi mujhe nahi maar sakte kyuki Shiv ne khud yeh vachan diya hai Narayan ko ki woh mujhe nahi maarenge.”
Bani was shocked at the revelation. He laughed at her expression. It was slow revelations of things she's never heard of. She's never heard of the Gods requesting not to kill anyone. They generally trust each other with the judgement.
“Kya lagta hai tumhe? Main naagon ko maarun aur Shiv ko gussa nahi aayega? Aaya tha na. Par mere Narayan ne unhe roka. Apne pyaare bhakt ko bachane aate hi. Mujhe bachane woh gaye the Shiv ke paas. Unke kehne par mujhe shraap deke chod diya.”Markaat answered.
“Please, Bani ko kuch mat karna.” Meera requested. He turned to look at Meera. Tapish quickly pulled her behind him. Markaat laughed.
“Yeh kaise ho raha hai, Balwant? Tumhare dono bete hi apne vansh se alag vyakti ke saath dil laga baithe hai.” He laughed. He turned to Shukla. “Shukla, Kul guru ban ke kya kar rahe ho? Samjha nahi paaye inko ki hum cheel kabhi apne vansh se alag logo ke saath dil nahi lagate?"
His tone began to change. From the suave tone of Veer to the crazy that matched Markaat.“Kaha tha tumse. Aakesh kabhi Nageshwari ke saamne nahi aayega. Tumhe toh yeh bhi bataya tha ki Shiv khud vardaan dene wale hai saanpo ko icchadhari banne ka. CHlo ek baar nahi kar paaye. Par dusri baar? Kaha tha ki Veeranshu kabhi bhi Nageshwari se nahi milna chahiye. Toh yeh batao ki yeh naagin yaha kaise aayi??” The tone so dangerous that it shook his spine.
“Mujhe maaf kar dijiye, huzoor.” Shukla fell to his knees. He grabbed Shukla's throat and got him up.
“Nahi…nahi… nahi… Shukla. Tumse maine kaha tha ki Aakesh kabhi bhi din mein bahar nahi jaayega. Tum woh nahi kar paaye. Tumse maine kaha ki tum Veer ko kabhi bhi Nageshwari se milne nahi doge aur tum woh bhi nahi kar paaye. Kis baat ke kul-guru ho tum?” He asked.
Bani laughed. She laughed like he cracked the funniest joke. Everyone almost thought Bani had gone mad.
“Yeh sabh…tumne socha ki yeh… yeh Shukla, daddyji ya chachu ya koi bhi cheel, suparn ya Chandrakala mere Veeranshu ko control kar sakte hai?” Bani laughed.
“End mein tumne bhi wahi kiya jo Chandrakala karti. Bewakoofi. Tumhe sach mein laga ki tum mere Veer ko mujhse alag rakh sakte ho?” Bani asked. She stood before him, braving the most dangerous creature. He raised an eyebrow. Bani put her hand on his shoulder.
“Yeh jiske body tum ghus ke baithe ho na, woh mere Veer ka hai. Jaante hi kya ho Veeranshu ke baare mein? Yeh baat toh tum bhi jaante ho ki abhi bhi, isi minute, tum do ladai ek saath lad rahe ho. Ek yahan bahar aur dursa andar Veeranshu se.”
Bani poked on his chest. This time she circled him. He eyes alert to Bani’s movement.
“Kuch bhi kar lo, Markaat, Veer se nahi jeet paaoge. Veer ke pagalpan ka andaza nahi hai tumhe. Woh kisi bhi hadd tak jaa sakta hai. Yeh na, is Adi-Naagin ka waada hai tumse.” Bani challenged him.
“Nageshwari…” He shouted.
“Shshhh….Relax… calm down. Gussa mat karo. Calm down. Woh kya hai na, Veeranshu aise zor se nahi chillata. Tum Veeranshu banna chahte ho na. Toh aise chillaoge toh kaise banoge? Veer aise react nahi karta. Sochta hai, phir plan karta hai aur phir react karta hai. Yeh aisa zor se chillana hum naag-naagino ki aadat hai. You know that temperamental behaviour. Yeh humara characteristic behaviour hai. Veeranshu ka nahi.” Bani patted his shoulder.
“Bani, peche hato. Kya kar rahi ho? Woh tumhe maar dega.” Meera told Bani.
“Meera di, aap pareshaan mat ho. Yeh mujhe nahi maarega. Kyuki jitna ise Veeranshu ki zaroorat hai utna meri bhi hai.” Bani assured Meera. Markaat looked at Bani.
“Pata nahi yeh Veeranshu ki aankhon ki wajah se hai ya tum ho hi aisi ki tum sabko bohot khoobsurat lagti ho.” He said laughing.
Bani was not ready to give up this early.
“Veeranshu, please jaldi aana.” Bani said. Markaat closed his eyes, anger flashing on his face. Bani knew that he was fighting Veer. Bani’s words always affected Veer.
Veer looked at Bani while almost fighting through with Markaat on the inside.
"Bani..." He said in a whisper. Almost extending his arm for her. He looked at the worry flashing in her eyes. She was helpless against this. She cannot fight and injure Veer. He is her greatest weakness.
Markaat lifted the dining table and toppled it over angrily. Everyone jumped out of the way.
“Nageshwari, main tumhe acche se bol raha hun. Chup raho.” The tone was so dangerous and filled with anger that it scared Bani from the inside. She knew it wasn’t Veer but the way he raised his voice while being in Veer’s body, is shook her. She was powerless against Veer.
“Veer…” Bani called him. Markaat pushed her away and Bani fell far away against the wall.
“Bani…”Veer shouted. He punched Markaat hard and pushing him away. Markaat got up. He still largely had good control on Veer's physical body. The act of injuring Bani would drive Veer to control himself again. He almost took over Markaat and walked up to Bani halfway. But the next moment, Markaat took back the control punched against the wall. Bani went up to Veer.
“Nageshwari…” He warned her. The whiplash between Veer and Markaat was making Markaat angry. She healed his hand.
“Please Veer ko hurt mat karo.” She almost cried. He just looked at Bani as she healed his hand that was bleeding. It was almost like she felt the pain that Markaat caused on him. Her first reaction anything is anger but when it is Veer getting hurt by himself, who was she to rage at? Veer looked at her tears. No. He couldn't watch her in pain. "Tumhe jo bhi gussa hai, use Veer par mat nikalo. Takleef hoti hai mujhe."
Bani just couldn't understand what to do. This wasn't something she was prepared for. She feared losing Veer so much that truly seeing him like this made her breakdown. She couldn't rage.
Markaat clenched his fists and pulled away his hand from hers.
“Bani.” Tapish held her and took his away from Markaat. Markaat walked up towards Veer's room and slammed the door.
There was pin drop silence in the room. Balwant and Pawan too shocked to say anything. Shukla scared out of his wits. The boys had no idea what to do. Meera was herself scared.
“Meera, I think tumhe apne ghar jaana chahiye. Please yahan mat aana. It isn’t safe.” Tapish told her.
“Tapish, Bani meri behen hai. Use chodke kaise chali jaau?” Meera asked almost shocked that he was expecting her to abandon her sister and run away.
“Meera, mazak nahi hai. Markaat is not Veer jo thoda kuch bolke nikal jaayega. He can actually kill you without a remorse. If he is here then all the cheels and suparns who were holding him back there are all dead. The walls of the cave are probably covered in blood by now. Please. Baat ki seriousness ko samjho. Ghar jaao.” Tapish insisted.
“Meera di, Tapish bhai sahi keh rahe hai. Mujhe toh phir bhi woh kuch nahi karega. Aapko hurt kar sakta hai. Please aap dur rahiye usse.” Bani agreed with Tapish.
“Bani…”
“Nahi, Meera di. Please.”
“Meera, suno. If I call and give you an sos message toh samajh lena ki musibat tumhari or aa rahi hai. Seedhe naag mandir chale jaana. Since you’re human, tum waha jaa paaogi. Saanp honge aas paas but don’t get scared. Wahan pandit ko awaaz deke ke kehna ki tum Bani ki behen ho aur saanpo ko hatae.” Sam told her.
“Meera di, galati se bhi yeh mat kehna ki 'mujhe anumati de andar aane ki' unhe lagega ki koi cheel ho aap aur saare naagon ko aap par hamla karne ko keh denge.” Bani added.
Meera nodded and left.
“Tumhe itna confidence kaise hai ki Markaat tumhe nahi maarega?” Shukla asked. Bani raised an eyebrow.
“Aakesh ne mere liye janam liya hai. Agar woh zinda hai toh isiliye kyuki main hoon. Yeh circle hai. Usne mera intezaar kiya hai 10,000 varsh janam lene ke liye. Isse pehle bhi woh janam le sakta tha par itne waqt intezaar kiya janam lene kyuki Aakesh sirf mere liye janam lena chahta tha. Main nahi toh Veer bhi nahi. Yeh baat Markaat ko acche se pata hai isilye mujhe nahi maarega but aapko maar dega iske chances hai.” Bani answered. Shukla walked away not wanting to be in Markaat's presence for long.
All the cheels and Bani sat together. Bani held her head. For the first time, she was so clueless. She ran her hands through her hair.
"Yeh ho bhi kaise raha hai? Markaat wahan se nikla bhi kaise? If the story that Narayan ne khud use wahan band karke rakha hai is true then how did he break that?" Bani started to question.
"Right now. Ek taraf Chandrakala hai aur dusri taraf Markaat."
"If anyone kills him right now, then the body is going to be finished too. Definitely his plan is to get Veer out of his own body and then take charge of the body completely. Aur isiliye Markaat abhi kuch bhi nahi hone dega Veer ko." Bani pointed out.
"Abhi iska kya matlab? Veer bhai toh already uske control mein hai." Ponky exclaimed.
"Nahi. Veeranshu ki body uske control mein. Veer abhi tak haara nahi hai. Veer haar bhi nahi sakta. Phirse wahi repeat nahi ho sakta." Bani said. Her hands shook thinking about that. Everyone noticed how she was shaking.
"Bani..." Tapish touched her shoulder. Bani was freaking out so bad.
"Tapish bhai, phirse nahi ho sakta yeh mere saath. Baar baar paas aake bhi aise dur nahi ho sakte." Bani was almost shaking. "Naag mandir ke pandit mujhse kehte the ki ek baar jab do insaan shaadi karte hai toh ek dusre ke saath jud jaate hai. Isi darr se ki kahin Aakesh ke liye jo bhi hai mera rishta woh mere waade ke beech na aaye, maine Hriday se shaadi karne ka decision liya par wahan bhi yeh Aakesh aa gaya aur sabh bigaad diya. Phir Veer ne mujhse shaadi karli. Is baat ki assurance mein main thi ki yeh shaadi asli kaha hai? Woh chain pehenaya tha mujhe aur raakh mein maang mein bhari thi. That's can't possibly be a marriage. It was joke. Toh main assured thi ki main kabhi Veer ki patni nahi thi. Phir use yeh..." She showed the mangalsutra she was wearing, "Yeh suddenly mujhe pehna di aur kaha bas... ho gayi humari asli shaadi. Tum meri aur main tumhara.... koi karta hai kya aisa, Tapish bhai?" Bani's freak out worried everyone.
"Bani, calm down. You're freaking out." Tapish tried to calm her.
"Abh jaake toh yeh feelings dil mein aayi hai. Bas, itna kiya aur chal diya? Yeh kya tareeka hai Veer ka?" Bani questioned. "Aap toh bhai hai uske kahiye na usse ki woh mere saamne aaye. Mere sawaal ka jawab de. Jab main uske liye itni important hun toh aise kaise woh kisi ko bhi mere saamne khada kar sakta hai?"
She ran her hands through her hair. Tapish rubbed her arms to calm her down.
“Yeh sabh hua kaise?” Balwant asked about everything that had occured.
“Chandrakala aur Chandni.” Kakot answered. Bani looked up confused that she heard a crow speaking.
"Tapish bhai, yaa toh yeh kauwa sach mein bol raha hai ya toh main pagal ho rahi hoon."
"Yeh Kakot hai. Kabhi cheel hua karta tha par Markaat ne ise kauwa bana diya." Balwant explained.
“Tum toh ho hi Aakesh huzoor ki kamzori. Sabhse jeet jaaye jo woh pyaar ke saamne haar gaya. Kakot explained to Bani.
Bani sighed and couldn't believe her husband was such an idiot.
"Yeh saare stupid ideas un dono ne hi Veer ke dimaag mein bhare hai..." Bani accused angrily.
"Bani, saari unki galti nahi hai. Tumne kabhi Veer ko yeh baat saaf saaf jatayi hi nahi ki tumhari zindagi mein woh hai kya. Jay apne aap ko tumhara janam janam ka saathi kehta raha par tumne use kabhi correct hi nahi kiya ki tum yeh nahi maanti. Bas reh gayi woh baat uske man mein." Tapish explained.
"Tapish bhai, main..." Bani sighed. How was she supposed to handle the situation now? "Yeh konsi baat hui?"
"Bani, waqt zyaada nahi hai tumhare paas. Jo bhi karna chahti ho jaldi karo." Kakot reminded her and flew away.
