Atif and his son Jamil were returning from the woods. Near the river, they are trying to produce some vegetables, so that they don't have to depend on the vegetable garden of safia hatun. Mukhya ji encourages this decision of making another source of food, but doesn't permit to cut the trees near the villages. This is why they have to take all these hard works. They are working for more than a week now, to dig the small route of irrigation from the river water. It seems like it will take more time. Why don't the village people see the potential of horticultural ? This is what upsets him. All they want to do is to make ayurvedic medicines or handlooms and baskets. They go towice out of the village, to only buy and sell. Is this a life? Aditya is right, despite selling the goods to the local businessmen, they should sell those themselves. Why should they get lesser money for the goods they produce ? But it will take someone who can live in the town, to manage all these. Atif thinks in his mind, why don't the mukhya tell Aditya to do the job? This boy is rational and knows business. Besides he is single . It will be easy for him to settle in the town. But rather theMukhya puts him in the village all the time, to make medicine for his daughter .What a wastage of grey cells! This was all going in the mind of Atif. Suddenly Jamil stumbled on a stone and fell on the ground.
-- Watch your steps beta...there are lots of sto...
Atif looked back to see the object and to his horror found out that it was a human's hand.
-- Oh God!
He couldn't believe his eyes. Jamil was standing holding Atif's dress.
-- Abbu what is this?
-- A human beta. come on let's pull it up.
They pulled up the body of a girl wearing saree. Atif noticed the girl is breathing despite of staying that long in the water. They cannot leave her here, this jungle is full of animals.
-- Jamil, run and inform mukhya ji about this girl. Tell them to bring the chauki also.
Jamil is born and brought up in this village. He might be only 9 years old but he knows the jungle like the palm of his hand, even more than his father. He ran and ran, fell on the ground a few times and then reached the village shouting for mukhya ji.
Mukhya ji was going to the hekim's chamber. He wanted the hekim to make some more medicine which her daughter will have after breakfast. He stopped hearing Jamil's cry.
-- What happened ?
Mahir and other people came out of their huts.
-- By the river...a body...of a wo..woman.
He said while breathing fast.
-- What! what body? dead or alive?
-- Alive perhaps. Dad has told you to go. And to bring a chauki and some men.
Mukhya ji commanded 5 men and hekim ji to go along with him. While proceeding, he saw Mahir coming along.
-- Where are you going, huh? Go and prepare the medicine for my daughter.
Perforce, Mahir had to stay in the village. He finished his breakfast very fast and went to the chamber. While thinking what an unfortunate soul who had to end up in the river like him!
The villagers found Atif sitting beside the body, got the girl in the chauki and came back in the village.
A crowd gathered in the premises to witness the situation. Mahir was also looking standing behind the crowd. On the dawa of the hut. He saw the men bringing a women carrying in a chauki and then taken to Safia hatun's hut. That's the best, she can take proper care of the women. He thought to himself and returned to resume his work.
Due to distance, Mahir couldn't see the women properly. He didn't know that it was his Bela that came to him, only a few hut's away.
