Round 3: K.K.

hhmmm..a low-key song. not the type of song which would suit k.k as he excels in high-tone songs. the lower notes are faded away. not a bad effort i must have to say that. i was sometimes feeling that K.k was feeling uncomfortable in the deep low-tones especially when the line ends and the sur has to fade away. but i have to admire the fact here that loads of singers are not able to sing too well in the low-tone area. admiring this risk undertaken by k.k i will give a 9 to this song.

Ohhh wat a fantastic performance by KK. Very well sung and the feel is perfect. 10 👏

OMG risingabove how could you do this to your beloved judges?! How am I supposed to compare this and Shankarji's Rind Posh Maal - both the songs have amazing vocals!

On Shankarji's thread, I pompously said that he has no chance of being ousted in this round.

But KK has literally lived this song. Such deep emotion... I'm still soaking up the performance. I was speechless for the first portion of Shankarji's song, but I am actually dumbfounded after KK's subtle but powerful performance.

Chalo then I'll give this song a 9/10.

If risingabove finds that there is ANOTHER tie between Shankarji and KK, then I would request her to change my scores - 8.5 for Shankarji and 9.5 for KK.

But for now, 9/10 for both of them. I've given FOUR nines in this round - the competition is too tough. If the song selection is so formidable next round as well, then I'll have to get even stricter 😉.

Let's move on to my song choice for Uditji. Well, Uditji always sounds like he is smiling in his songs - there is an inherent happiness in his voice. But to go with 'Awaarapan', I have chosen a similarly downbeat Udit song. When a smiling voice becomes sad, it really touches the heart, as in 'Ae Ajnabi' (by A R Rahman and Gulzar). If this song was in the competition, I would give it 10/10 for sure, but DIl Se is a 1998 film :(.

Nahi Annuji main aapki madad ke liye aa gaya. Bechare KK ko Himesh ji hamesha nazar lagate rehte hain. He has put so much soul into this song. He deserves a full 10. The judges have been harsh on KK thus far because of which he has to still struggle for survival. Is baar toh dil khol ke KK ko 10 de dijiye. He definitely deserves it. Chaliye humne apni baat kehdi aage aap ki marzi.

Aah. I love 'Ae Ajnabi' as well.
