But I would also like to say something for Shreya who is already up there in the throne of success as I'm a die-hard fan of her as well. Shreya's forte is melody and the songs that she got to sing are either melodious numbers like Chalo tumko lekar.,teri ore etc. or semi-classical numbers like mere dholna or peppy numbers like zoobie doobie, pal pal pal. Kavithaji another of my favorite singers brought out the pain in songs such as Hum Dil de chuke sanam so beautifully. But Shreya has yet to sing such a soulful number. Until that happens it is difficult to say about the pain in Shreya's voice.

However, in this competition, we heard her sing the evergreen number "Yeh zindagi usi ki hai". To me, only this song and Hemachandra's Roja almost moved me to tears. A song can only reach one's soul if it has the pain engraved in it.

which I kept myself from commenting on. Lataji is like a Goddess to many of us including Shreya. Saying such things is not only insulting Lataji, but also hurting Shreya.

No Listen you didnt read the whole post.. I had said noone can ever replace Lataji, she is our legend, but today we need someone to initiate Latajis role in todays music..... and shreya is clearly the best today! And the song "yeh zindagi usiki" i checked the original on youtube, & therefore I commented on it!

Now coming to your point Anwesha sounds similar to Shreya.

The USP of sreya's voice is melody,she can sing soft romantic numbers with superb expressions.But I have never seen shreya attempting a cabaret song.You can not say shreya is a versatile singer.Sunidhi chauhan is more versatile.

Anwesha's voice is a combination of power,range,melody.She can sing almost any song..be it asha,lata,kavitha,chitra,sunidhi,shreya,Anwesha can sing any song and she already proved that.She is a true versatile singer.

How can they sound same??

And one more thing i would like to add here anweshaa always use those microphones which is generally used by male singers.And shreya and some other female artist use microphones made for females.Female microphones are much more sensitive than a male microphone.

Again let me clear you i am neither comparing anwesha with anybody nor trying to prove she is the best.She has just started her career and i want to wish her all the success in her life.

I had just given an explanation bcoz its all anwesha fans who keep comparing her with shreya in this forum. nor otherwise i wudnt hav posted anything!

Well we should not compare with Anwesha and Shreya at all. Even if we compare, we should do in neutral songs. Means not any original songs. Now thats difficult to find that song which has been sung by Anwesha and Shreya both.

Well I have found one. We all know Jiva laga song in Marathi.. It has a bengali version which Shreya also recorded. and Anwesha also sang in concerts. I am posting the links. Mind it one is live, one is recording. So still its unfair to anwesha. But I want all to hear this and enjoy both. Its in bengali but very famous tune.
