Akshay puts on a beard, Himesh knocks it off

In last couple of days, there has been quite some buzz around Akshay Kumar sporting a beard for his yet another blockbuster in the making Singh Is Kinng. His rationale behind this? A beard of a Sikh is one of the five sacred insignia of his religion.

However, Himesh Reshammiya is required to take an altogether different route for his still-to-come-on-floors film Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke.

Well, buzz is that Himesh, who plays a Delhite in the film, will be shaving off his beard for one of the crucial scenes in the film. Even though the film is in its pre-production stage, it has been finalized that Himesh would have to come under the razor for a scene in the film where he would be seen sans his trademark beard.

To confirm if this indeed was true or just a speculation, we got in touch with Himesh. However, the actor/composer/singer did confess candidly, "Yes, it is true that I would be shaving off my beard completely for a particular scene in Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke. Even I am looking forward to how it would turn out since it has been ages since I was seen clean shaved. Also, I think the beard does suit my personality."

So why did he have to agree to this if he was so attached to his beard? "Producer Aditya Singh and director duo of Seema and Sidhar were convinced that I should be seen differently for this particular scene. Though I can't divulge more about this, I am now myself quite convinced that that scene demands it. I am in complete synch with the directors' vision." Though Himesh wasn't willing to disclose more about this 'critical scene', a source attached to the film did spill the beans, "Though Himesh bhai is quite particular about the way he has looked and has been accepted by his fans worldwide, he had to give in this time around. The scene is such that there is no other choice."

And what exactly is this scene?

"The story goes that Himesh, who is in love with debutant leading lady Jenifer Kotwal, is required to meet her father. Now trouble lies in the fact that her father hates men who keep beards. Though initially Himesh's character is in a Catch 22 situation, he later agrees to take this step in order to please her father. What you would see next is a new look Himesh", rattles the source.

Does the look stay on for the rest of the movie? "No ways", protests the source, "It is only for this particular scene that Himesh would be seen without the beard. Otherwise for the remaining part of the film, he would continue to carry the new look that he has adopted for this love triangle that also features Niharika Singh. The sequence has been designed to be quite funny and would certainly have audience in splits!"

A full on musical which would have as many as eight songs, Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke will be shot in Paris, Punjab and Delhi.

Himesh Reshammiya has a date fixation. Apart from the fact that his mother's birthday is on June 29, Himesh had released his debut film Aap Ka Surroor - The Real Love Story on June 29. Now he has requested his mother, Madhoo to perform the mahurat ceremony of his upcoming film, Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke on April 29, which launches with a song recording.

Himesh also had the biggest show of his life at the Wimbley Arena in London on the October 29, 2006 where he announced his film Aap Ka Surroor. He announced his three films Karzzzz, A Love Iiisshtory and Kajraare on the October 29 last year. Says Himesh, "June 29th is my mother's birthday and I have done all my major assignments on this date. I believe in astrology and since anything that I started on the 29th of any month has proved to be lucky for me, we will have the mahurat of Mudh Mudh ke... on April 29."

Our source says, "When Himesh released his first film Aap Ka Surroor on his mother's birthday, it went on to become a huge hit. So, when Himesh asked his mother to perform mahurat ceremony by breaking a coconut, she agreed to do it with a condition that he would never shoot at the Bermuda triangle where he was to shoot the film before his mother flatly refused to let him go there."

Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh… is a love triangle, which also stars Jennifer Kotwal and Niharika Singh opposite Himesh. The film is being directed by Seema and Sudhir.

The story revolves around protagonist Monty, who is an extremely successful Rock Star (Himesh Reshammiya) based in South Africa; he is phenomenally popular all over the world and is worshipped like an idol. In one of the parties, he meets Tina (Shweta Kumar), a ballet dancer from Kenya. It is Love at first sight but tina returns to her home after the show. During one of his rehearsals Monty starts playing a tune and suddenly goes into a trance, he start having intense visual flashes – a mansion, a temple, a beautiful girl…. Monty falls down unconscious.

Monty meets Tina in Kenya and their love blossoms. He sees the same mansion which he had seen in his visuals. On inquiring he gets to know that this mansion belonged to a Ravi Verma, who died in a tragic accident and his mother and sister left after some time. Suddenly, Monty again goes into a trance, this time he sees himself as Ravi Verma in his previous like and the beautiful girl Kamini whom he had loved and married in his previous life… he comes back to his senses with the grave realization of being born again as Monty. Monty meets Kamini, Tina's foster mother – she is the love of his previous life. Kamini, although double the age of Monty, takes a fancy for him and a clandestine affair ensues between them.

During one of their meetings, he reveals to Kamini about him being Ravi Verma reborn again as Monty.

From here on it is Monty's journey – of he enthralling vengeance which he unleashes on Kamini for her sinister plans, in close connivance with her wicked accomplice Sir Juda, to murder Ravi to take over his estate; to repay he debt, which he owed to his family by bringing out his mother and sister from the dark recess of their life; to reunite with Tina to culminate his incomplete love from his previous life; all in all to absolve himself of all the ''Karzzzz'' he was reborn with… That's KARZZZZ for you.

Producers Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series have bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts, the original star cast of which was comprised of Rishi Kapoor, Jalal Agha, Raj Kiran, Tina Munim and Simi Garewal.. They have also tried to maintain the originality of the old script under the present backdrop and situation.

Singer-composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya is particular about the dates on which he begins new projects.

Himesh strongly believes in astrology and numerology. And his lucky number is 29, which is also the birthday of his mother in June every year.

The singer released his first film ( Aap Ka Suroor ) as an actor on June 29 last year. We don't need to tell you how well the film fared at the box-office. If anything, it consolidated Himesh's belief that 29 is a lucky number for him.

So he chose October 29 last year to announce his three big projects – Karzzzz and A Love Issshtory and Kajra Re . Also, if you notice the titles of these films, they have been specially modified with extra 'z' and 's' only for numerological reasons.

Now, on the 29th of April, 2008, Himesh will launch his another Bollywood project titled Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke in which he is paired with two new beauties – Jennifer Kotwal and Niharika Singh .

MUMBAI: T-Series' home production film Karzzzz has completed 65 per cent of its schedule.

The movie is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar and is being directed by Satish Kaushik.

Most of the film was shot in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The film stars Himesh Reshammiya, debutante Shweta Kumar, Urmila Matondkar, Danny Denzongpa and Raj Babbar.

Karzzzz is a remake of Subhash Ghai's film Karz, which starred Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim and Simi Garewal.
