Niharika Singh and Jennifer Kotwal, who are both paired opposite Himesh Reshammiya in Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke, had a heated argument after the film's mahurat

Mumbai Mirror Bureau

Cat fights in Bollywood are common. The latest is the spat between Niharika Singh and Jennifer Kotwal of the Himesh Reshammiya starrer Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke.

After the film's mahurat on April 29 by Himesh's mother Madhoo , the cast and crew of the film went for lunch at a suburban Chinese restaurant in Andheri. It was here that the two actresses had a fight.

Our source from the unit says, "Both the actresses are paired opposite Himesh in the film. Niharika had earlier passed a comment against Jennifer. Jennifer saw this lunch affair as a good opportunity to give Niharika a taste of her own medicine."

So, what was it that Niharika had said to upset Jennifer? Niharika had said that Jennifer plays second fiddle to her in the film. Jennifer, who was fuming ever since she overheard Niharika say things against her, decided that this was the best time to get even. The entire crew including Himesh, producer Aditya Narayan Singh and directors Seema and Sudhir were present there.

During a discussion at the lunch the topic moved to the script and characters of the film, when both the girls started accusing each other. The scene got ugly and finally Aditya had to intervene and cool things down.

However, the matter is far from over as the cold vibes between the two actresses is far too palpable.

We tried speaking to Niharika and Jennifer, but the two are under a contract which forbids them from speaking to the media while the film is still being made.

However, producer Aditya Narayan Singh confirms the story and says, "As it's a love triangle only one of the girls gets Himesh. But, I made it clear that both the actresses have equal importance in the film."

Singh tells us that the fight was a mere misunderstanding. He adds, "I had a chat with them and everything is fine now."

Music Review : Dasavtharam

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
By Satyajit, Bollywood Trade News Network

Himesh Reshammiya, the multifaceted sensation who had many aces up his sleeves adds one more dimension to his credit with multilingual big bonanza DASAVATHARAM. It could not have been anything better and bigger for him than Kamalhasan's most ambitious big screen extravaganza DASAVATHARAM to enter South Indian filmdom. Reshammiya takes a break from his repetitively outrageous sounding "dhin-chaak" Sufi splurge and boisterous nasal singing by pitching out disco beat filled and religiously devout soundtracks. It may sound strange that the film that presents talented Kamalhasan in ten different "avatars" has just six original soundtracks in its audio packaging. Still they rock…

Kamalhasan took most unconventional decision by experimenting out with Reshammiya's Sufi-rock mode as his peculiar "sarangi-tabla" loop embroiled with thumping disco beat fillers rock the floor with "Koi Tumsa (Come Dance with Me)". Vinit's (last heard in "Kesariya" (NANHE JAISALMER)) blistering vocals comes out all blazing with ire and thrust in emoting out a rip-roaring concert disco track. Sameer's easy-going wordings about adulation for God Almighty sounds asymmetrical in its flow but the vigorously punched "sarangi" and drumming beat patterns lifts the spirits.

Reshammiya along with Sameer had soulful attribute "Purab Se" (BANARAS) that went unnoticed and now together they had another remarkable outing in "Om Namo Narayan". Hariharan's vociferous flows are immaculately pristine in its modulating flows that amalgamate brilliantly with the thriving sounds of "Shri Vishnu Stuti shloka", booming conch ("shankh") rendition and empowering temple bells in the backdrop. Sameer's mythological aesthetics supreme out amicably in emoting out philosophical attributes about might of Lord Vishnu, age-old faiths and myths. Reshammiya scores appreciably in delivering out 12th century spiritual backdrop (reference to Rangrajan Nambi, a devout Vasihnavite) with traditional instrumental flows (feel of temples and palaces) and aggressively loud "shloka" rendition. It's a thematically complicated composition to compose but still works out appreciably in signifying the sentiments of the situation and the protagonist. Soulfully Divine!!!

The concert feast returns back with trendy conglomerate of impressive vocals, titillating electronic sounds, scintillating instrumental flows and impressive wordings in "Oh Ho Sanam". Shaan's "yuppie" vocal feel is sparkling in its "unplugged" preludes followed by blossoming rendition of "Oh-ho-ho" that sets the mood for a rapturous rock-concert blast. The thriving beat patterns sports dazzling chemistry with Shaan's ecstatic vocals in its sluggish disco-beat outburst. Reshammiya's composition is noticeably analogous to his super-hit "Aa Aa…Aashiqui Mein Teri" (36 CHINATOWN) and Sameer's impressive lyrics really works wonders. Mahalaxmi Iyer's brief and shrill rendition hardly adds any substance to the thrill but its Shaan's noteworthy rendition that rocks the show. The party continues with its DJ "club" remix where accelerated tempo along with raucously thumping beat-juggling really sets the floors on fire. Chartbuster!!!

Sadhna Sargam's mellifluously driven vocals plays an ode to the divinity of Lord Krishna in pleasant sounding "Mukundha Mukundha", melody coated "bhajan" that impresses to the core with its fine amalgam of traditional instrumentals and soul-stirring religious sentimental display. Reshammiya shows his versatile genius by incorporating the finesse of traditional South Indian music by playing out traditional instrumentals ("sitar", "mridangam", and "ghattam") in midst of lovable humming and enchanting flute rendition. Kamalhasan disguises in old-woman vocals (similar to CHACHI 420) with couple of devout one-liners in its concluding "antaras". Sameer's comprehensive narration of all "Vishnu-avatars" is intellectually arranged in well versed phrases that evokes religious sentiments for the supreme deities. Melodious!!!

Shalini Singh's seductive vocal oomph serenades out serpentine flows of liveliness, desire and seduction in flashy and retro feel club dancing track "Hey Black Ho Ya White". Reshammiya's thumping music is high on vigorously punched beat-patterns and peppy electronic sounds. Shalini's sylphlike verve in bilingual (Hindi-English) rendition is appreciable and brings out 80's styled "disco-station" appeal. Do anticipate oodles of visual delight when Mallika Sherawat storms out in middle with her voluptuously bold "avatar".

DASHAVTAR rejuvenates both Himesh Reshammiya and Kamalhasan back into spotlight with fine pack of hip-shaking disco delights and religiously perceptive soundtracks. The album impresses and scores better than Kamalhasan's previous two albums (CHACHI 420, ABHAY). Soundtracks like "Oh ho Sanam", "Koi Tumsa (Come Dance with me)" and "Hey Black Ho Ya White" are catchy and likely to be picking up with promotion and success of the film. Even Hariharan's soul-stirring rendition in "Om Namo Narayan" and Sadhna Sargam's "Mukundha Mukundha" shows great substance in their harmonic packaging. Overall it's a sincere effort to deliver both entertainment and enlightenment but is expected to be facing hard times for its acceptance for its "indifferent" subject and low face value in Hindi speaking belt.

Himesh Reshammiya wants to cut a dash as an actor
12th May 2008 15.34 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Himesh Reshammiya is taking his acting assignments with utmost sincerity and dedication.

The singer-composer-turned-actor has been devotedly preparing himself for his roles. Even when he was shooting for Satish Kaushik's Karzzzz , he asked the director to teach him Punjabi dialect for his role in Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke .

Not just Punjabi, Himesh has been training his tongue on tapori lingo as well. He will play a street-smart tapori in John Mathew Mathan's film A Love Issshtory and to prepare for his role Himesh has been mingling with locals in Mumbai's Amboli village where the tapori dialect is dominantly spoken.

And if that's not enough, for last three weeks Himesh has been training in fistfights with stunt men, every day for about two hours. This training is for Pooja Bhatt's Kajra Re in which he will have a lot of hand-to-hand fighting scenes.

Ask Himesh about all these trainings and he has a simple, terse reply: "I want to do full justice to all my roles."

Interestingly, all of Himesh's upcoming films will have newcomers opposite him. 'Karzzzz' introduces Shweta Kumar , 'A Love Isshtory' has him pairing with Niharika Singh and 'Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke' has debutante Jennifer Kotwal .

Himesh hits the high notes!

Musician-turned-actor talks about his two new films and the change in his dhokla boy image
by Sonia Sharma

Himesh Reshammiya is on a new mission: to give it his all as an actor. We met him while he was shooting for the T-Series film Kajrare and he was a bit too intense for anyone's comfort.

When the man walks he maintains a certain posture so as not to disturb the way his new-grown hair is set. Himesh does not stand and chat around with the other members on the set. He seems to be a workaholic and a perfectionist.

The actor has been working hard on his look as well as his acting skills. To build his physique, he works out daily, apart from learning how to dance. And with a film like Kajrare up his sleeve... who wouldn't? Acting in the film directed by Pooja Bhatt has changed the man.

"I have always been a boy who loved chomping on dhoklas. I haven't conversed much in English before as well. But a lot of things are new to my life. I was just a music composer once. I turned producer, then I turned singer and now I am an actor too ... life has changed and I am moving with it," says the soft-spoken star.

The soft-spokenness has also been often mistaken for arrogance, says Himesh. "But I don't want to go around clarifying to everyone. People who know me, understand what I am. I am still a simpleton at heart," he says.

The actor who has now started filming with Pooja Bhatt says the film is close to his heart. "Kajrare is a very favourite subject. Pooja is directing it, Maheshji (Mahesh Bhatt) is writing it and Bhushanji (Bhushan Kumar) is producing it so it's a great team work. The music of the film is very different, and yet it has mass appeal. The film has been conceived very beautifully by Pooja and really very well written by Bhatt saab," he gushes. "It's about a man who travels from country to country and how he reaches Heera Mandi (the red light area) in Lahore. So it's a very different film," says Himesh.

The film promises a lot and Himesh is also happy with the choice of the heroine.

"I think the vibes are fantastic. Monalaizza is a very good choice for the lead role and she has been selected by the Bhatts and Bhushanji in consultation with actor Javed Shaikh from Pakistan. I think it's a very different film in terms of its setting. It's Heera Mandi in modern times ... it's got action, it's got romance, it's got love and it's a very intense musical," extols Himesh, as if he is selling the film to his distributors.

"I was shown some rushes of what Monalaizza has done in Pakistan and it does seem that she is a very intense actress. I am sure this film will be a landmark movie after Sadak," says Himesh.

Himesh is also working on another musical at the moment - the remake of Karz called Karzzz. "I'm doing Karzzz, which is an entirely different project for me. I love my work and put in all my energies into it. Karzzz again is a project where I need to live up to my reputation as a performer. Rishi Kapoorji did a great job in the original which puts a lot of pressure on me, but I am working hard, knowing well that the comparisons that happen won't be too kind on me," says the singer-actor.

Mahesh Bhatt also is full of praise for Himesh's music. That Bhatts have given some fabulous music through their films and it makes Himesh beam with pride. "Its really great of Maheshji to say that about my music but I'm really excited to be working with Pooja and Maheshji and the music definitely has to live up to the standards of what I had done earlier and what Bhushanji and Bhattsaab have been doing earlier," signs off Himesh, as he slowly makes his way back to give his next shot...

Ho jaa Rangeela re!

In A New Love Ishtory, Himesh Reshammiya plays a tapori inspired by Munna, Aamir Khan's character in Rangeela

Back to Section Stories Posted On Monday, May 19, 2008

Himesh Reshammiya is playing a fan of none other than Aamir Khan in John Matthew Matthan's A New Love Ishtory. In the film, Himesh is so busy worshipping Aamir that he impersonates Aamir's character Munna in the Urmila starrer Rangeela.

Our source said, "Himesh's character is a stuntman called Sikander alias Sukku bhai in A New Love Ishtory and is shown using colloquial Mumbai lingo just like Aamir did in Rangeela."

Himesh we hear will be wearing Munna's colourful clothes including the infamous yellow shirt. In fact, the locals from Amboli village where Himesh just completed a 15-day schedule are also helping Himesh speak in true tapori syle.

When contacted, Himesh confirmed and said, "Yes. I am really enjoying the experience."

"I have discovered that I have a flair for comedy and although I play rather intense characters in my other films like Karzzzz and Kajraa Re, comedy is definitely my forte," he added.

In A New Love Ishtory, Himesh woos a rich businesswoman played by Niharika Singh. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar.
