Mukti Bandhan, a show on Colors, made a fresh and appealing beginning with the story of an ordinary man with his brilliant business sense becoming a millionaire.
Based on Harkishan Mehta's novel, it marked the beginning of a fresh drama with the lead I.M. Virani being a grey character and excellent direction and presentation.

The Story-
A very simple story, out if the regular tried and tested saas-bahu trend on Indian Television and a fresh High class concept beating the regular rural dramas on the channel.

The Characters-
(wiki)

Devki Virani

(Female protagonist)

Devki is a contemporary woman with aspirations but at the same time she has her roots intact. She is highly respected in the business circles is touted to be the next big thing but she does not let this affect her virtues and principles. She is the exact opposite of the very powerful I. M. Virani. She threatens to overtake him with her business acumen and grounded nature. She married Vaibhav Virani to fulfill her grandfather's wishes but started falling in love with him after marriage. Her husband's love for the actress Sabina led her to sign the divorce papers. She was the one who broke the fake pride of I. M. Virani and made him a true man.

Vaibhav Virani

Devki husband "I.M " Virani eldest son,Vaibhav Virani is I.M Virani's eldest son

who successfully runs his dad's business. Stubborn and arrogant he always follows his father's instructions in business matters. Ishwarlal's wife Charulata is a woman of substance. She respects her husband and is very supportive, in spite of knowing that her husband is wrong at times and doesn't even love her back. She knows her husband is doing only wrong deeds, so to balance that she is always part of satsangs, and is involved in social service and working for the less fortunate.

Siddarth Virani

"I.M." Virani younger son

Siddharth Virani the youngest Virani brother is soft spoken and an obedient son but not as smart and sharp as Vaibhav. He has an artistic bent of mind and likes painting, music, etc., but can never express his interests to anyone. He thinks his father is always right and has immense respect for him. He is always given less preference in business making decisions.

Pawala

Pawala is I.M Virani's childhood friend from manglore , who is living with I.M Virani's family.

The Actors-
The actors were all fresh faces but were instantly relatable. The natural acting, no over-dramatic acting and beautiful performances were such a healthy change.

The Direction-
No over-dramatic situations, no untolerable camera effects, no focusing on each characters face from all possible angles and all understandable behaviour traits of characters... Not the usual "she is always crying...", "She is always bitching...", constant lies..., flashback's every 2 minutes, songs for every occasion, parties every single day...!👏

The Step-Motherly Treatment-
Colors never took the initiative to go out of it's way to promote the fresh concept like it did for it's other shows. The channel's sole focus had been it's long running benchmark shows.

The Consistent High's-
The story was made better with all the acceptable positive traits each character had to offer

The Power Packed Dialogues-
The well-written dialogues and the finesse with which they were delivered was outstanding.

The Applaudable Performances-
The natural acting and the the amazing chemistry among the characters made the show what it was. The IM Virani's persona, the innocence and high will of Devki, Vaibhav's dedication, Motilal's teaching's, Rajvi's struggle, Nirali's pure friendship and love, Sabina's sacrifice... were all PERFECT!

The End of a Fantastic Show-
The show came to an abrupt end due to so-called low ratings but has definitely made a mark.
We hope the actors come back soon on a better channel hopefully and their talent gets well-deserved recognition.

Thanks for the lovely tribute dear. I personally feel every character has shared the glory of beng a hero against the single monster IMV, right from Master to Praveen kaka to Jimmy to Devki to VV & S.
I wholeheartedly thank the makers of this soap for not making this soap another meaningless saga akin to Uttaran sheilding a villain like IMV.

Thanx for the wonderful tribute dear. It was most fitting for the wonderful show we saw. A big round of applause needs to be given to the entire team of MB.

The creatives for conceptualising such a different show...

The dialogue writer for the awesome dialogues from start to finish...

The director and the other crew members for giving back to back beautifully executed episodes...Not to forget the stupendous sets we got to see...

And finally to the cast of the show...The performance of each and every actor has been outstanding...whether it was Masterjee or Praveen kaka...or for that mater even the nondescript Viraj...every actor has given a brilliant performance...

And last but not the least the writer of the original story...The book on which this show was based...

So once again ...hats off to all who were a part of MB...
