I'm back with another story on PurVir. This one is a little longer than my previous ones, should be around 3 parts. The shock of Vir slapping Purvi hit me so hard that I couldn't rest till I wrote out a redemption for him and that is how this one emerged. Hope you enjoy it.
Feedback & comments welcome, as usualđ
PART 1
After the fiasco at Purvi's bday party, Vir walked out of the haveli and roamed around aimlessly for hours, not knowing or caring where he was going. He just wanted to get away from everyone and everything. He could not imagine how Purvi could do this to him. He knew she had said that she cannot love him, but hadn't she also said that she respected him? If only she had come to him and told him that she loved someone else, he would have let her go. Why did she have to make such a public spectacle of him, why put him thru this humiliation? And that too because of that Chaurasia's son? Vir stopped near a rundown cottage when he couldn't walk anymore...he just sat against the wall and wailed, wanting the pain to go away. How was he ever going to live thru this?
At the haveli, Purvi was in no better condition. She couldn't believe what had happened at the party. That video which Karan showed...she felt disgusted! And Mukhiji, how could he believe the video? He never gave her a chance to say anything in her defence. Did he really think so badly of her that he believed her capable of such behaviour? She knew that he could never love her like he loved Sakshiji, but she thought that he at least respected her? Purvi cried her heart out, she thought that even though she was a molkki she had found happiness and respect in her husband's eyes. But she was wrong...Mukhji neither trusted nor respected her. Every time something wrong happened, it was she who got blamed & punished...she had to face a trial by fire and prove her innocence every single time. She allowed her self a few more hours of self pity, before she braced herself for the battle ahead. This time Mukhji had crossed his limits...she would tolerate everything but questioning her character was something she could not forgive. Once again, she would prove her innocence...but unlike earlier times, this time she would not forgive those who had tried to besmirch her reputation.
After the party, Vir did not come back home for a few days, instead he stayed at the Panchayat office even at night. The kids had been inconsolable, not understanding what had happened between their haathi and babbar sher. Yogi, Priyu and Mama Sarkar tried their best to look after the children but they were also unable to answer their questions.
In the meanwhile, both Vir and Purvi were busy doing their own investigation into the video and its authenticity. While Purvi of course was sure the video was doctored, she didn't know how Karan had managed to do it. On the other hand, once Vir had calmed down and the haze of rage had lifted, he realised what a monumental error he had made. He mentally beat himself for not trusting Purvi and worse, raising his hand on his wife. He didn't know how he was going to get out of this mess he had created but right now he didn't have the time to think about that. The most important thing right now was to find out how that Karan had trapped Purvi and made that video. Being the sarpanch had it's own perks and it was much easier for Vir to get to bottom of things. However, he also wanted Purvi to regain her self respect, and so he fed her information and steered her in the correct direction thru one of his informers.
Three days later Vir came back to the haveli. On seeing him, Purvi went straight to her room and came down with her bags. Purvi, "Hum aap hi ka intezaar kar rahe the. Har baar ghar mein kuch ho jaate hai aur hume apne aap ko sahi sabit karna padta hai. Saamne chahe Kallo Tayi ho, Vaibhav ho ya phir Karan, agni pareeksha toh hume hi deni padti hai. Par ab bas, hum thak chuke hai aapko saboot dete dete. Hum aaj hi iss ghar se jaa rahe hai."
Vir was too stunned to react. He knew Purvi would be very angry, and rightfully so, but he had never imagined that she would leave the house. Before he could pull himself together to stop her, Juhi & Manas came running towards them. Kids, "Baba, aap kahan the itne dino se, humne aapko kitna miss kiya." Inspite of being very young, both children were very perceptive and quickly caught on to the tense atmosphere. On seeing the bags in Purvi's hands, they clung to her and started crying, "Haathi tum ne promise kiya tha ki tum hume chod kar kabhi nahi jaaogi. Please mat jao."
Looking down at the crying kids, Purvi realized that she could not leave them like this, she at least had to talk to them & prepare them before going. She gathered both of them in her arms and consoled them. Once they quieted down she sent them to their room and turned to Vir.
Vir, "Bawari..."
Purvi, "Mat kahiye hume bawari. Aap woh haq kho chuke hai." Vir stepped back as if he had been slapped.
Purvi, "Do hafte...bas do hafte chahiye hume, ki hum apne aap ko bekasoor sabit kar sake, tab tak hum ruk jaate hai. Iss tarah hum bachchon ko bhi samjha sakte hai. Par tab tak hum bachchon ke saath hi rahenge."
Vir again tries to talk to her, "Meri baat toh sunn..."
Purvi, "Ab bhi kuch kehna baaki hai kya? Aap ko jo kehna aur karna tha, woh aap party mein kar chuke. Ab hum mein aur sunne ki himmat nahi hai." And she walks away.
