Chapter Eight

Nupur had been coming to Bangalore club since she was kid with dia...but it never seemed to amaze her...it was one of those old British time clubs which had maintained its atmosphere...from the members to the surroundings. The members were either the old Bangalorians or the super rich. Therefore it wasn't uncommon to see the who's who of Bangalore at the club. Bangalore was a relaxed city where you could usually get by with casual clothes anywhere but inside the walls of banaglore club you had to dress up to visit it or it would be social suicide for you. As nupur and dia headed towards the tennis courts she noticed all the Louis Vuitton strutting up and down and felt incredibly underdressed.

Nupur: "Dee...this place hasn't changed at all...i keep forgetting this club is banaglore's answer to delhi! Why didnt u remind me to go change?"

Dia: "what are u talking about you look adorable! Mayank will love you in that." Referring to nupur's shorts and tank top with calvin and hobbes having one of their moments on it.

Nupur: "Yeah...i was thinking about mayank" she was going to have to work harder for dia to be convinced that she really liked mayank. As they rounded the corner she was blown away. She suddenly got why girls found sports men attractive.. as she saw those mussels working in his arms and legs as mayank jumped and ran to play...she felt an unfamiliar feeling in the pit of her stomach. Suddenly mayank turned and flashed her the brightest smile she had ever seen and all she could think about was what it would be like to kiss him.

Dia: "Nupsie...if i had my doubts about you and mayank they just got cleared...wipe ur drool off before he comes up close." Dia whispered and teased her before going off to hug benji and nupur snapped out of it. Mayank came over to her with a strange expression on his face.

Mayank: "So what did u think of the winning shot." Looking at nupur flashing his dimple.

Nupur: "Huh...shot...??" trying really hard o remember what had gone on in the game.

Mayank: "Yeah...the one i played when u'll entered...nupur are u ok?"

Nupur: "Yeah...oh that shot...it was great...congrats...i was thinking about something else right now...sorry." clearing her throat and prying her face wasn't as red as she could feel it was.

Mayank: "Im not surprised i kind off pegged you as the girl who would relate to someone with imaginary friends." Said with a teasing smile.

Nupur: "What?" seriously confused.

Mayank: "calvin..." pointing at her t-shirt

Nupur: "Oh...yeah well i need to keep myself entertained when there is a lack of witty conversation around." What was wrong with her! If she wasn't so distracted she would have seen that joke coming from a mile. This was not good. She thought.

Mayank: "Thank god...i thought you weren't feeling well...you hadn't passed a sarcastic remark for 2 whole mins."

Benji: "I think u look adorable nupur." Benji came over and told her with a wink.

Mayank: "I was just pointing out the similarities.'

Dia: "Ok guys stop harassing my sister...and lets go grab a coffee or something." She said pulling benji along with her ahead leaving mayank and nupur to walk behind them.

Mayank: "Benji is right though...you look adorable." Anddd the flutter was back.

Nupur: "eghm...so what have you been upto today?" she asked clearing her throat once again...at this rate she was going to develop a throat problem.

Mayank: "Nothing much...got a couple of nice shots and then came to the club to play. What about u?"

Nupur: "my dad came in the morning today with all our suff...just been unpacking...needed a break so i came with dia...i hope you dont mind."

Mayank: "Why would i mind? Its great that i have someone to talk to around those two...i hate being a third wheel."

Nupur: "U feel that too? I love them but sometimes its really like they should get a room!"

Benji: "We can hear u guys!" calling out

Mayank and nupur : "Thats the point!!" they called out in usion and then burst out laughing.

From the far end of the cafe sheena could see the 4 entering and laughing together. As they all sat down. Sheena fumed. This was wrong! She thought..the body language was not a good sign. They really looked cosy together...she narrowed her eyes and started as mayank draped his hand over the back of nupur's chair casually.

"Cosy isn't it." A voice interrupted her thoughts as if having read them. She looked up to see Dhruv the psycho standing there.

Dhruv: "Trust me it wasn't like this 4 days back...something is up."

Sheena: "What do u mean?" Sheena listened as dhruv related the incidents prior to sheena's return. When he was finished sheena felt a bit more relived.

Nupur was coming out of the loo when she bumped into Dhruv. Oh great! The day was going great why did it have to turn?!

Dhruv: "Hey nupur." He smiled his sleazy smile...how had she not noticed this on the first day...right she was blinded with rage! She should really consider anger management.

Nupur: " Hi dhruv..uh..i kind of have to go." She said as he was blocking her way and had her backed up against the wall. If it wasn't dhruv who she knew she could handle she would have been seriously freaked out.

Dhruv: "Whats the rush...we haven't spoken in so long!" Coming a little closer...but nupur stood her ground.

"Everything ok?" Mayank's voice like music to nupur's ears. She looked behind dhruv to see mayank standing there with a concerned and serious expression.

Nupur: "Yeah...just ran into dhruv here.." She pushed past dhruv to go stand next to mayank who took hold of her hand and squeezed it.

Dhruv: "Yeah...we just ran into eachother." Mayank looked like he was about to tell dhruv off when sheena interrupted and came over and hugged dhruv.

Sheena: "Oh dhruv darling! There you are...i missed you so much!"

Mayank and nupur just stared in amazement. To a third person the situation must have looked extremely comical seeing their jaws hanging open to what they saw infornt of them. Sheena turned to look at mayank and nupur as if to notice them for the first time.

Sheena: "Oh mayank , nupur! How nice to see you guys! You know just today i was thinking that i must thank u'll. If it wasn't for you, mayank i would have never gone out with Dhruv and we wouldn't have fallen in love!!" She exclaimed happily has she hugged dhruv again and kissed him.

Nupur started in shock and mayank looked like he was going to be ill.

Mayank: "Your seeing him." Spacing the words as if to make sure he had heard them correctly.

Sheena: "Yes! Isn't it lovely!" Looking at mayank's expression nupur thought she should save him.

Nupur: "thats amazing sheena...we are so happy for you!! But im afraid we have to go now...catch u in college. Cya."

She bade goodbye to a smirking sheena and a creepy dhruv. She pulled mayank, who seemed to be frozen in the spot looking seriously upset. Which to be honest kind of hurt nupur...She knew they weren't actually dating but if she was his girlfriend and he looked that pissed to see his ex move on she would have had something not very nice to say to him. Since that wasn't the case she swallowed her pride and thought to comfort him as a friend. As he obviously still had feelings for sheena. Once they were out of hearing range she asked.

Nupur: "Are you ok?"

Mayank: "What the hell is she thinking!!" He exploded

Nupur: "Mayank...maybe you should tell sheena the truth about you and me. Thats the only way you can get her back."

Mayank: "What?! Why the hell would i want her back?! Has everyone lost it today?!" He yelled..Now starting to get pissed off nupur yelled right back.

Nupur: "I haven't lost it Sharma...Ur the one behaving like a raging ex lover infront of his current girlfriend! Pretend granted. But What am i to think!" Mayank sighed, he realised what it looked like from her point of view. He had come across as jealous, but he really wasn't. So he told nupur so in a soft voice.

Mayank: "Nupur..im not jealous that sheena is dating dhruv...hell if i thought they were actually dating id gift them a weekend trip." When nupur looked at him and didnt say anything he continued. "I am pissed at her..she is only pretending to date him to make me jealous, as if that would win me back. She doesn't know what she is playing with...Dhruv is right now infatuated with you so sheena is ok but it wont be long before he falls for her and she wont know how to get out of it. Nupur, sheena used to be a good friend of mine before she was my gf. I owe her enough to warn her. Just cant believe she would stoop that low to get me back."

Nupur: "you mean as low as we have stooped to blow them off?" she said hoping to lighten the mood which earned her a smile.

Mayank: "Yeah...kind of that low..but the difference bhushan is...neither u or me are insane."

Nupur: "i have my doubts about you Sharma."

Mayank: "Says the girl with imaginary friends."

Nupur: "Ha-ha very funny...fine warn sheena...but if i know women like her, she is going to think ur still interested...i have an idea."

Mayank: "What?"

Nupur: "Maybe i should talk to her...maybe she will believe me...i mean why would i have any interest in seeing her single again right?"

Sheena: "Did u see how pissed mayank was! I told you dhruv he isn't realy that interested in her...if we stick to this plan we will have them broken up in no time!"

Dhruv looked at sheena gloating and knew why he never really was interested in her. Admitted she was damn hot but she was a bitch. He knew he had a reputation of being a perv, but he really wasn't. He wanted, like everybody else to find someone he could spend the rest of his life with. He knew he got a little intense when it came to finding that someone. But if you wouldn't take risks where would you be in life. He wouldn't date sheena if she was the last girl on campus. She was a one night stand kind of a girl, not a girl you would want to be with. So this was a perfect situation...he was just going to have to suffer having fun with sheena, in order to get the girl of his dreams. Nupur.
