I'm sure you know that when people watch the show, not everyone can claim superficiality. It is an admirable quality though - as it prevents getting personally attached to either the show or the characters. Therefore when people say that they do not agree with the way a sequence has been planned by the makers, they put part of themselves in the character's shoes whom they've come to identify with over the past couple of months.
Plenty has been said about how Mayank is and is not ... maybe even more than the makers could've ever contemplated. Yet, I would HAVE to say that the actions which are found sweet, and what's the big deal if Mayank does it to fulfill his girl's bizarre fantasy, or it's just a show border greatly on how people have come to perceive the show and the characters. And I would be lying if I say that I don't care about either of them.
I find the entire sequence objectionable on so many levels. The most important one being Mayank's character sketch. The theme of MayUr's love story is - opposites attract. If love changes a person so much, I might as well marry my mirror image. One who acts EXACTLY how I want.
This is just my opinion, no offense meant. I'm glad you are enjoying it though :-)
