Ohye: It's not just about wanting to fulfil the fantasy of his girlfriend but its also about the kind of fantasy we're talking about... Nupur is a film-buff, right? I think it would be much more in-character and easier to believe had Mayank bought film-tickets for Nupur and while she was dieing over the movie in the theater, he would be cracking jokes and making fun of it and ofcourse glance at her affectionately intermittantly... That kind of growth and development is much more believable with Mayank's character right now... Expecting him to be all like the OTT and melodramatic horse-riding and violin-bajaofying heroes in Nupur's fantasies just in the first date is just too-much really 😕..

How do you call a character "PERFECT" and then say you aren't expecting logic from a perfect character? 😕 wouldn't one go in shock if their perfect does something imperfect? 😲
Mayank is economical, but is also a guy with a kind heart. He spent his mother's hard-earned money on buying flowers from a young little girl selling flowers outside of Excel. How could he do that? Because that is Mayank. He is not selfish at every point in life. He understands the value of the people in his life and he understands the value of the people's dreams in his life. Mayank is the same guy, who accepted Nupur in his life and has given her an integral part in his life, just like his mom. When giving Nupur the Mayapari (which was a sweet gesture since he knew how much Nupur loves the magazine) he said he wanted to do something raj like since Nupur called him Raj. A person's dreams are priceless and for a loved one to fulfill a dream that is also priceless.
If someone does that in real life, nobody says omg how illogical of you? How could you be such a money saving person and then go spend all that money on the love of your life? Well at least I hope nobody says that, because I definitely would not say that.
Heer Ranjha, Romeo Juliet took their lives for their love just because some do not agree with the live taking that does not mean we term it illogical or try to find character consistencies in that as well. Taj Mahal-Mumtaz died and Shenshah made a whole Taj Mahal for her....it was so uncharacteristic of him wasn't it? I think not. People do stuff for love that one would never imagine.
Constructive criticisms are rarely seen nowadays it's just "I don't like it so it's a criticism from me." Constructive criticisms should be willing to be criticized.
And I think what OHYE is getting at is that if the term creative liberty can be used for Mayank (a book worm) doing salsa, then why not Mayank (who is in LOVE with a filmy girl) doing something extravagant for their date.

Nupur did at a point of time study a lot and research because she knew it meant a lot to have Mayank's friendship rather than lie to him and have Gunjan do it. She did it for him. She researched on drugs for him, even if it was a stupid thought about Mayu, she did do it for him!!! And Mayu doing this for their date isn't a all time thing that he will do continually. It is a first date like Ohye said.

Shweta, the person meant 'Perfect character' not 'perfect person'. In her mind the character was very well-etched out and perfect for Nupur, she didn't mean it literally.... There's a difference between the two...

See I never complained when Mayank wanted to gift Nupur the mayapari, I think thats sweet too and certainly believable... And I believe that as Mayank will continue to date Nupur he will become more fun-loving, more outgoing, more accepting of Nupur's melodramaticness, less saduuu, less studious... But I also expect him to retain his unique character, retain what makes him him... Otherwise let me ask you, is that realistic???

And frankly speaking as I said, the creatives haven't shown enough growth to justify his character taking such a huge-step...

About, Mayank having an extravagent date, I'm sorry but I don't think the word 'extravagent' does complete justice to this date... this in my opinion is completely over-the-top and melodramatic... Well that aside, I don't think you can compare the creatives taking liberty with M's dancing skills to him trying to fulfill Nupur's OTT and melodramatic fantasies... The first one was illogical but it was not insensible, neither was it out of character... The second is illogical as well as insensible and inconsistent with his character... I think in the first scenario creative liberties is justiftable... But in the second scenario, the creatives are betraying the entire basic character-sketch of Mayank... Plus the first scenario was more of a plot-point to further the story so any compromise in quality of that is accepable... But the second scenario (MN's first date) is one of the most important and looked forward to scenes by the MN fans...

And I don't see the relevance of bringing up examples of Heer-Ranjha and Romeo-Juliet in your argument, because Mayank-Nupur are a completely different couple we're talking about here...

Well I think the difference is in how you look at Mayank and how I do... I don't think we can ever convince each other to believe in each other's viewpoints... So I rest my case, lets just agree to disagree! This will certainly be my last post debating with you on this matter.

So true... I remember Mayank asking his mom abt a new shirt she bought for him. He was like why did u buy this and his mom said it was on sale. I don't like Mayank's transformation. I need the old Kaddoos Mayank back, the only change shud b dat he is now in luv with Nupur. That combination of Mayank Nupur was too gud... the creative's shud try and incoperate love into that character of Mayank.

hmm donno y i am bothering with it but it really has been in my mind ever since i read abt how mayank plans to woo nupur in this grand manner !!!!
i remember how when gunjan had bought the globe fr samrat .... she had admitted to spending her ENTIRE pocket money on that gift .... now not only was that realistic but endearing as well .... she wanted to get something special for samrat but at the same time she was worried what to but for her sister on her birthday now that all her money had been spent !!!!
keeping all the logic that is being discussed on this thread Y coludnt she get samrat some grand glift ... dialomnd cufflings ........ TAG HEUR WATCH anyone
similarly mayank has always been shown this very practical guy ..... someone with his head on his shoulders .... someone whos very careful with money ..... remember the ACAMEDIC MEET track ..... where he didtn even wanna spend money staying in the lodge coz they had been alloted a certain budget ..... n in one epi he had even felt guilty as to how his mom was working hard to support his education while he was loosing focus ... he wondered if he should do a part time JOB
its not only abt how cheap it is to HIRE a horse on te beach or the flowers or the guy to play a violin .... a GUY like mayank whos so pragmtic doing such foolhardy stuff ..... jus so that he can fulfill his lady love's fantasy ......... is something i just cant digest ....thats wat peope are complaining when they say his character is deviating !!!!
i knw many of u r looking fwd to this date ... nntg wrong in that.... each to its own ..... but i still dont see how this whole extravagant DATE can b justified !!!!

@ meteora well that is your POV and I respect that. You seem to be die hard fan of mayank and nupur, but as a viewer of MJHT I connected with what has happened so far in regards to Mayank and Nupur as well as other characters. I don't know why I am explaining this, but anyways withour going too muck into detail. I watch to enjoy not to sit here and figure out why certain characters behaved a certain way or why a certain events occured. Now coming back to this topic, my opinion still remains the same, where/how abouts of Mayank-Money-Lavish date, it doesn't matter to me, its a show and this would be enjoyable to watch.

@ Nehalove summed up how Mayank got all the things for his first date 😆.

Good Night
