Part 51:

Cut to: Next Morning - Mayank's home
It is 8 in the morning and the sun is high up in the sky already. Mayank is still fast asleep, in some sweet dreams of his own. He sees Nupur whisper into his ears "Sapne dekhne band karo aur ab uth jaao!". She looks even more beautiful in the morning light. "I love you Nupur.." he says out aloud and an indulgent smile fills his face. His Mum sees him from the door and is surprised.

Mom: yeh pehli baar Mayu ko theories ke alawa neend me kuch aur badbadate sun rahi hu. Abhi iski khabar leti hu.

She goes near the bed and sits down beside him. She leans down and slowly whispers into his ears.."I love you too Mayu!". Mayank jumps and sits up straight in bed.

Mayank: kya Ma, subah subah dara diya tumne!
Mom: acha? Main I love you bolu toh dar gaya mera beta aur neend me kisse pyar ka izhaar kar rahe the?

Mayank blushes scarlet and looks here and there. His eyes fall on the bedside clock.

Mayank: 8 baj gaye!! Tumne mujhe jagaya kyun nahi Ma?
Mom: arey chutti ka din hai. Thoda so liya toh kaunsa pahad toot pada?
Mayank: aaj raat ko Miss Aha ki shaadi me jaana hai. Usse pehle mujhe kuch notes khatam karne hai, har haal me. Pata nahi kaise honge.
Mom: jaha tak mujhe yaad hai, teri maasi ki shaadi me tujhe kheech ke le jaana pada tha. Aaj college teacher ki shaadi ke liye bada excited hai?
Mayank looks out of the window dreamily, then looks back at her.
Mayank: aisi koi baat nahi hai Ma. Ek tarah ki formality hai..
Mom: tu kabse formality karne laga? Chod na shaadi waadi.
Mayank: (blurts out) Ma Nupur bhi toh hogi waha!
Mom rolls her eyes and winks at him.
Mom: oho toh yeh baat hai.. tab toh jaana hi chahiye. Agar shaadi me Nupur ko koi aur pasand aa gaya toh?
Mayank: tum na Ma, kabhi nahi sudhroge.

He gets down from the bed and Mom looks after him with an I-know-it-all expression.

Mom: bachhu, mujhse kuch nahi chupa sakta tu. Teri Ma jo thehri!

Cut to: Later that morning - Radz's home
Samrat is at her place, having been forcibly called to make a life altering decision.

Radz: dekh Sam, end moment confusion mujhe usually nahi hoti par ajkal waqt hi kharab chal raha hai!
Samrat: ek hafte ke shopping ka yeh result nikla? Phir se confusion?
Radz: ab bata bhi de ' final question ' red dress or pink dress?
Samrat: hmm.. I think pink is the flavour of the season.

Radz squeals and gives him a quick hug. Samrat gives her a questioning look.

Radz: exactly, main bhi yehi soch rahi thi.
Samrat: waise Radz, jo tu is event ko leke itni hyper hai, kahi tera ..ahem ahem.. boyfriend toh nahi aane wala?
Radz: chida mat bhai. I am still so single.
Samrat: kyun hai par? Didn't find Mr Right?
Radz: nahi Sam. Ache ladke milte hi kaha hai ajkal.
Samrat: waise bhi tere standards kuch zyada hi hai..
Radz: ha very funny. Bilkul bhi nahi hai.
Samrat: really? Toh phir bata. Kaisa hoga tera dream guy?

Radz smiles at him, walks up to the window and waves the curtains aside. We see another window open up somewhere..

Radz: mera dream guy ek dum sapne jaise hoga, jaise subah subah ki dheemi roshni, jaise baarish ki pehli boonde..

Samrat looks at his sister cutely as she goes on raving and dreaming.

Radz: wo jo intelligent bhi ho, romantic bhi.. sensible bhi aur sensitive bhi..
Samrat: are you sure tujhe ek hi ladka chahiye?

Radz throws a cushion at him as the other window becomes clearer in view to make way for someone looking out of it and talking on the phone. Though the day is still young, he already seems fresh and lively. His brown eyes are captivating and shine as he speaks.

"Haan Aunty, of course I will be there. Last week hi toh exams khatam hue.. I have time.. Alright, sham ko milte hai. Bye."

He takes a look at his watch. Just then someone comes into the room.

"Kya kar raha hai Adi? Kabse tera breakfast pe wait kar rahe hai. Chal jaldi!"
Adi: aa raha hu Ma. Mehra aunty ka phone tha.
Ma: kya keh rahi thi?
Adi: puch rahi thi shaadi me ja raha hu ya nahi.
Ma: toh kya kaha tune.. ja raha hai na?
Adi: of course. Nahi jaunga toh aap mujhe nahi chodengi. Chod bhi diya toh wo mujhe nahi chodengi!
Ma: (laughs) chal ab jaldi neeche chal..

Samrat claps his hands together to snap Radz out of her dreamy look. She looks at him intently.

Radz: I am sure aisa koi kahi na kahi toh hoga hi.
Samrat: itni saari qualities sirf Samrat me hai babes. Koi nahi, is janam me na sahi, agle janam me '

Radz picks up another cushion and is about to chase a laughing Samrat with it when his phone rings. Radz puts the cushion down, murmurs "tujhe toh main dekh lungi!" and leaves the room.

Samrat: hello?
Benji: hie dude, aaj sham ke liye all set?
Samrat: matlab?
Benji: matlab aaj shaadi hai na.. (affectionately) Miss Aha ki. Gunjan ko patane ka plan bhul gaya kya? Ya use sirf sapno me hi paana chahta hai?
Samrat: Gunjan ka meri life me aana kisi sapne se kam thode hi hai Benji.
Benji: wah mere majnu! Jaldi bata na, plan kya hai?
Samrat: koi plan nahi hai.
Benji: (surprised) matlab?
Samrat: dekh dude, Gunjan aisi ladki nahi hai jo mere kisi sudden plan se pal bhar me maan jaayegi. Use bas dheere dheere yeh ehsaas dilana hoga aur yeh yakeen karwana hoga ke main sirf usse pyar karta hu.
Benji: acha? Aur yeh aap kaise karenge?
Samrat: tu bas dekhte ja. Shuruat aaj se hi hone wali hai.
Benji: hmm.. Morena ki nazuk kali ko pyar ki seekh dena thoda mushkil hai par -
Samrat: par Samrat ke saamne har mushkil khatam ho jaati hai. Right?
Benji: right dude! Chal sham ko milte hai.

Cut to: Later that evening - Dia
Dia is getting ready in her new designer outfit. Even though she is still furious with Samrat, that doesn't reflect on the effort she puts in for make up. Uday comes into her room just then.

Uday: hey deedz! Jaldi se batao na ke kaunsi belt zyada suit karegi mujhe?
Dia gives him an if-looks-could-kill stare.
Uday: actually main Nupur se puchne gaya tha par wo aur Gunjan ab bhi ready nahi hue iske liye main'
Dia feels a fresh dose of anger on hearing Gunjan's name and throws the eyeliner she had been using on the floor.

Uday: kya kar rahi ho deedz?
Dia: kuch cheezo ke saath aisa hi behave karna padta hai. Aur kuch logo ke saath bhi.
Uday gives her a blank stare.
Uday: kya?
Dia: (screams) Dodo agar tum abhi yaha se nahi gaye toh tumhe raat bhar bathroom me lock kar dungi!!

Uday flees and Dia fumes some more.

Dia: ab tak tumne sirf Kandy ka pyar dekha hai Sammy, ab uski nafrat bhi dekhna. 2 din tumhe avoid karungi na toh dum hilakar mere peeche aaoge. Huh!

Cut to: Gunjan and Nupur
They are also getting ready for the wedding but are in completely different mindsets. While Nupur's blue lehanga choli complements the pink in her cheeks and lights up the warmth in her eyes, Gunjan's bright pink salwar suit fails to hide the blues she still feels from her last meeting with Samrat. Nupur notices her little sister not being in her elements and decides to brighten her up.

Nupur: mujhe pata nahi tha Gunjan ke tujhe shaadi karne ki itniiii jaldi hai!
Gunjan springs up in surprise.
Gunjan: kya di?
Nupur: aur nahi toh kya? Chehre pe sahma hua sa expression, hothon pe bujhi hui si muskaan, bidaai ke liye na chahte hue bhi tayyar ' bilkul perfect bhartiya dulhan!
Gunjan: tum bhi na di, kuch bhi kehti ho.
Nupur: (imitates) kuch bhi kehti ho. Itni der se muh fulaaye baithi hai. Arey shaadi me ja rahe hai. Kitne log honge, naach gaana hoga. Maza aayega!
Gunjan: actually mera mann nahi ho raha.
Nupur: by God Gunjan. Kabhi kabhi lagta hai Mayank ki tarah tu bhi bachpan me hi budhi ho gayi hai. Dekh mera vaada hai. Jab hum lautenge na toh tu chahakti mehakti hui hogi. Aisa nahi hua toh.. uh.. kal subah ka nashta main bana lungi. (Quickly adds) Par sirf cornflakes haan?
Gunjan cant help a smile and nods a yes.
Nupur: shukar hai aap hasi toh. Chal ab jaldi kar.. der ho rahi hai.

Cut to: That night - Wedding Venue
The place looks straight out of a fairytale as Miss Aha's family has left no stone unturned to make their only daughter's wedding a grand affair. Lots of people have already arrived and their laughter and chatter goes along perfectly with the background music. Benji and Pooja are early and as they look around for the rest of their gang, they see their Principal talking to someone, with a morose face. Pooja decides to tease Benji a little.

Pooja: dekh na Benji, Princi Sir kitne dukhi lag rahe hai.
Benji: haan after all Miss Aha ab hamesha ke liye out of reach jo ho jayengi.
Pooja: hmm. Kahi tu bhi unke gam ka bhaagidar toh nahi?
Benji looks at her sternly.
Pooja: kidding baba!
Benji: you better be. Main sirf tujhe pyar karta hu ok?
Just then he sees Samrat and Radz enter through the gate. They go upto them.

Radz: hey Benji, hie Pooja!
Pooja: hie Radz, bahut achi lag rahi ho..
Radz: tum bhi.
Benji: lo start ho gayi mutual admiration society!
The girls laugh and Samrat pulls him to a side by his arm.
Samrat: chashmish aayi ya nahi?
Benji: ab tak nahi aayi yar. Nazar rakh raha hu main.

Samrat nods and takes his attention back to Radz. He sees a couple of rather weird guys checking her out and points them out to her.

Samrat: kahi unme se toh nahi tera Prince charming?
Radz: lagta hai cushion ki pitaayi kaafi nahi rahi tere liye. Ghar chal batati hu.

Benji is suddenly very excited and pulls Samrat away from the group.
Samrat: kya hua?

As Samrat looks in the direction Benji is pointing towards, time seems to stop. Gunjan is here! Though Nupur, Dia and Uday are with her too, but for Samrat the frame narrows down to focus on the one person who meant everything to him. Gunjan is also looking around nervously. As Samrat comes upto them, he gives Nupur and Gunjan an appreciative look. Dia slides away in a huff.

Samrat winks at Nupur.
Samrat: bachke rehna Nupur, kahi aaj sab tumhe hi dulhan na samajh le.
Nupur: aur tumhe dulha!
Gunjan: kya di, kuch toh sochke bolo.
She stops abruptly. Samrat looks at her cutely and she at him.. but she cant keep up the eyelock and walks ahead..

Dia is looking for Annie and Chacko when she feels a hand on her shoulders. She turns around to come face to face with Pragya ' an old school friend she hadn't any contact with for a long time. Dia is happy to see her and hugs her.

Dia: my God Pragya tum yaha! Its been so long!
Pragya: I know babes.. its been ages. Tum yaha kaise?
Dia: actually Miss Aha mere college ki lecturer hai. Aur tum?
Pragya: wo mere Mom ki friend hai.. So Dia, what's going on? Kitne arse se we haven't caught up. How's Samrat?
Dia didn't want to reveal too much about her tiff with Samrat, esp since Pragya had always been under the impression that Samrat and she were a couple.
Dia: oh he's good..
Pragya: wo tumhare college me hi hai na? Is he here too?
Dia: nahi.. he couldn't come.. listen babes, I got to meet some people. Will see you in a bit.
Pragya: ya sure. See you.

Mayank arrives at the wedding, dressed in white. He had managed to spend some quality time getting ready, hiding from his Mum's inquisitive questions. His eyes fall on Nupur who is standing in a big crowd. He goes closer to her only to see that the crowd is gathered around Samrat, who is busy reading hands. Mayank smiles to himself and taps Nupur on the back. She turns and grins even more broadly when she sees him.

Nupur: pata hai Mayank, main tumhara hi wait kar rahi thi. Samrat ne mera haath padhke itni interesting baatein batayi, by God!
Mayank: Samrat ne haath padhna kab se shuru kar diya?
Nupur: arey tum aam khao, guthliya kyun gin rahe ho. Pata hai usne mujhe bataya ki meri shaadi Goa me hogi aur tab maine blue saari pehni hogi!
Mayank looks at Nupur and wonders at her innocence.
Mayank: woh toh usne tumhara blue lehanga dekhke kaha hoga.
Nupur makes a face.
Nupur: haan tum bas chand me daag dhundo, yeh bhi nahi bataya ki main kaisi lag rahi hu.
Mayank: actually main tumhara dil nahi dukhana chahta tha.
Nupur: (shocked) kya? Matlab main achi nahi lag rahi?
Mayank: nahi. Achi nahi lag rahi.
Nupur's face falls.
Mayank: bahut zyada achi lag rahi ho.
Nupur's face lights up again.
Nupur: acha Mayank, main Samrat se shaadi ki date puchu?
Mayank: haan haan. Ab jab uski palmistry itni specific hai toh date, kapde, jagah sab puch lo. Actually reception ke hotel ka naam bhi puch lo. Advance booking kara lenge.
Nupur: wah Mayank, kya idea hai!
She cuts through the crowd and extends her hand towards Samrat.

Nupur: Samrat please, ek last question. Meri shaadi ki reception kis hotel me hogi? Initials hi bata do naam ke.
She sees some people look at her weirdly.
Nupur: actually yeh mera sawaal nahi hai. Wo Mayank puch raha tha!

Mayank looks on stunned for he hadn't expected her to actually follow his suggestion. Samrat looks at Mayank, then at Nupur and then answers in a deep, philosophical tone.

Samrat: yeh hotel motel toh moh maaya hai Nupur.. (coming back to his Samrat tone). Par main itna zarur bata sakta hu ke jisse tumhari shaadi hogi, uska naam.. (Mayank waves his hand to and fro to indicate to Samrat not to take names. Samrat notices it and winks at him.) Uska naam hai na Nupur.. M se shuru hoga!

As Samrat turns to the others, the music changes to a slower, more enchanting score.

"Tumhi dekho na, yeh kya ho gaya
Tumhara hoon main aur tum meri..
Main hairaan hu, tumhe kya kahoon
Yeh din me hui kaise chandni..
Jaagi jaagi si hai phir bhi khwabon me hai
Khoyi khoyi zindagi.."

As Nupur blushes and looks at Mayank, he too cant move his eyes off her. The music seems to be playing specially for them as they continue to get lost in each other's eyes..

I absolutely loved it! OMG Debs, the way you move the story along is so sweet, so nice. First we have a nice Mummy and Mayu scene, then a nice Sammy-Radz scene, plus Adi's entry, we have a nice sisters moment, and then some Benji-Pooja and ManyUr, plus Nupur-Sammy interaction. *sigh* Cannot wait for the next part!
