Vijay, the line made bold is enough disclaimer for any statement made thereafter. However, you do also go ahead and say that U know he has been found guilty on ONE COUNT.

Our whole debate is exactly that - that he was found guilty of only one crime, i.e. possession of fire arms. That compounded by the fact that in the case of other accused, possession of fire arms have been booked under TADA where as Sanjay Dutt has been cleared from TADA and booked under Arms Act, which is basically for keeping weapons which are not in the nature of AK 47 etc.

U say he has been cleared of the criminal conspiracy charge, but having had benefit of seeing and reading material on the trial and discussing this matter with the lawyers involved with the matter, I can say that the material has been selectively used and the treatment is not like equals.

Well as per law we cant call an accused a criminal until found guilty. He has been cleared of the "terrorist" charges.

The whole debate is exactly that - that the judiciary has succumbed to pressures and cleared his name when the evidence points otherwise.

Personally I DONT think Sanjay Dutt would have been part of such a terrorist act if he had any idea of their intentions and the scale of destruction that could have caused.

Or it may so happen that he himself have succumbed to the threats he recieved from D company to co-operate in transferring some "goods" else... (you can guess). But we all here are just talking on assumptions without knowing the real truth.

U spoke of assumptions Vijay. I am talking of facts here. Facts that weapons were found, facts that he tried to dispose off the weapons, facts that calls have been traced to his phone and zillion other facts, which I would not want to bring in here. Even your thought that he may not do it is just UR thought and assumption and not based on facts or borne out from records.

Well there have been no proofs / evidence shown that he had recieved any monetary favor for being part of the crime except the AK-47.

What I just wonder now is that did he thought that his house will be attacked by some mob that he had to use AK-47 to tackle them. 😕

After complete investigations and in court he has been freed of the "conspiracy" charges.

I dont think it was anyones case that he did this for money. And it wasnt just AK 47, he had RDX, YES!!!!!! He expected a mob to come to his door step and he thought he can use the RDZ to blow them off his doorstep.

Well law must take its own course.... lets not talk on assumptions.

Vijay!!!!!!!!!! We are saying just that... that the law must be allowed to take its own course.

Well I don't care too much about his acting I have actually met the guy and he is very arrogant and not a very down to earth person.

I think he is guilty, he's always been involved in this kind of thing for years now.

It doesnt really matter any way he has enough money and clout to get him out of the way currupt law.

umm, WOAH! 10 pages of discussion!!

my two cents: law shouldn't be diff for celebs. he did somethin that was wrong, and he is found guilty.

however, he has served a punishment for this for about a year or so. I think he definitely changed after goin to jail once... isn't that sort of the point of punishin someone? to teach them a lesson, and i guess he learned his. but then again, if he is sent to jail again, its the law and it can't be changed for him.

@saara: very good point, this case will definitely be a precedent coz he is a celeb. so whatever judgement the court makes should be carefully thought about as future cases will use his example to get criminals free.

yes, he was caught having conversation with the underworld folks, they were not able to prove it, so yes, he certainly has learnt from him previous trip to the Jail😉

Article: after the verdict

In 13 years last night was the first time he slept without tension'
The Rediff Interview | Priya Dutt, Sanjay Dutt\'s sister

November 29, 2006

A day after a mixed verdict that cleared him of any role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts but convicted him for illegal possession of arms, actor Sanjay Dutt's Pali Hill residence in Mumbai's western suburb of Bandra was a picture of calm.

A few friends and wellwishers were present at the Dutt residence, with the actor's younger sister and Congress member of Parliament from Mumbai North-Weset Priya Dutt was thanking them for their support.

Priya spoke to Chief Correspondent Syed Firdaus Ashraf on how her elder brother and her family dealt with the tough times.

Twenty four hours later, what is Sanjay Dutt doing now?

He is sleeping. I think this is the longest he has ever slept in his lifetime.

How was the situation during last night's dinner, the family's first since the verdict?

The family got together and we met some friends.

But, there must have been some discussion about the case?

There was no discussion. Sometimes words cannot express feelings and that was how it was for all of us. There was just a sense of relief. We all were speechless. The word 'terrorist' was dropped from the judgment and that was the biggest relief to us. We all knew that he was not a terrorist but that statement meant a lot to us. It is too early for us to celebrate at this moment because the legal battle is still on.

After being discharged, who did Sanjay Dutt call first?

It was an emotional moment for him. He called Trishala, his daughter. In the US, it was 2 am and she was watching the news with her grandparents. Sanjay then spoke to her.

What else did Sanjay do last night?

He went to sleep early. As I said, after 13 years, last night was the first night when he slept without any tension.

How much do you and Sanjay miss your father [the late Sunil Dutt, actor-turned-politician]?

My father had been a pillar of strength for all of us. He always protected our family. Yesterday, we all felt lonely when he was not here. I missed him a lot, but we knew he is around with us. He is still with us.

How has Sanjay Dutt changed as a person in the last 13 years?

These 13 years have made him mature and mellowed. He has become more reserved now.

What did he tell you after the judgment?

It was a nice and happy moment. We still have to face more. Yesterday, we didn't want to talk about anything. It was too much to handle. We had discussed enough before the judgment. Moreover, he had gone to sleep and still not woken up. The relief is yet to sink in.

What are the political implications for you?

I would never look at something like this in terms of whether it would help me politically. It is my family matter and I will never use that as my political tool.

Did any of Sanjay Dutt's fans do anything crazy after the verdict?

We have been bombarded with telephone calls and letters. We are getting prasads, and fan mail. I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has been with us during a time of crisis. I feel everybody's prayers worked for us.

Were you really threatened during the Mumbai riots?

Yes, of course. We were involved in relief work in the Muslim areas during the infamous riots of Mumbai in 1992-93. We were helping refugees and my father was actively involved in relief work. At that time, I used to be alone in the house and I personally got threatening calls. I remember my father was stuck on the roads for a day while shooting was on even as a curfew had been clamped all over the city. Those were horrible days. Mobs used to come in thousands and shout near our house, 'we will burn you'. I was the only one at home.

What else do you recall of those days?

I remember [actors and Sunil Dutt's neighbours] Dilip [Kumar] uncle and Saira [Banu] aunty were here and they used to tell me to come to their home. Later on, I found out that they too started getting threatening calls. I remember crowds used to stay awake the whole night. People used to keep a vigil in buildings and that was a horrible time of my life.

Your father stood for secularism and unity. How will you recall him at this happy moment in your life?

I feel India can progress only if it is secular. My father was a true patriot. For 13 years, he lived with the stain that
his son was a terrorist and an anti-national. It was the worse thing to happen to a man like him. If he were alive today, he would have been peaceful. I know wherever he is, he will be in peace. He loved India and did everything keeping the interest of the country in mind. I am happy that Sanjay has been absolved of this terrorist charge.

Did Sunil Dutt say anything about Sanjay before he died?

His passing away was too sudden. He didn't say anything to me about Sanjay but he did everything that he wanted to do in life. He had no regrets. The only thing he wanted to see was Sanjay being let off and if he were alive this would have been the greatest gift he ever got.

U guys are pathetic.

First of all to even create a topic of discussion about ur opinion on someone's fate?

This is sick.

Sanjay has suffered enough in his life.

The verdict that was given to him is FAIR.

Who the hell are u guys to judge what he does or to decide his fate or to even speak out ur opinion on his sentence being not fair?

Put urself in his shoes for once!!!!

Sanjay Dutt ROCKS in whatever he does and god willing this mess of his will be cleared up very soon.

IM WITH SANJU!!!!

I do agree that majority of our politicians should be sitting behind bars, but right now, we are speaking and discussing the case of the Bombay Blasts.

If he were a ordinary citizen, like some others we have seen earlier who have been sentenced to longer terms, He would have been held guilty for aiding and abetting and participating in the conspiracy.

An ordinary collector in the district of Raigad (Srivardhan) was held guilty for clearing the consignment (which wasnt declared as RDX) which was the RDX used in the bombay blasts. What was his fault? That he went on the basis of the declarations made to him, that his verifrications did not reveal the RDX, that he had been paid a small sum of money to not verify the material (which is pretty normal anyways)🤢

If he is found guilty, why not Mr. Dutt, who was aware of the conspiracy, who invited Abu Salem and the others to his house on a day when he knew his father would not be around, found a way of taking in the arms while hoodwinking his fathers security......... we are speaking about a man who had no qualms in plotting a conspiracy against the nation, in the very house where his father, then a Minister, was staying.😡

Fact remains that there was a conspiracy hatched. He is no fool to know that D company was bringing in RDX in such quantities, that fire arms was got in. Obviously these are not required to play Diwali!!! This was so obviously meant to play HOLI with the blood of innocent people.
