@bold- I've been Raghav's biggest critic, so not calling him out ka toh chance hi nahi hai. I'm glad Sunny calls him on it too, and I'm glad Pallavi didn't go all 'mera pati amazing hai' because it would have been so hollow. His behaviour really doesn't allow for second chances.

Hayye, those comments on women in the first few episodes- they were so freaking disgusting. Mujhe Pallavi se solid waala pyaar ho gaya tha, warna no way I'd have watched this show. Same with slapping Harish when Kirti and Pallavi caught him, woh bhi sabke saamne. Very, very gross. There was also a lot of backlash IIRC, which is why I think they phased these traits out, and gave us explicit scenes to correct for this, because they realized ki the character was too difficult to root for. Generally, I try not to take the first 15-20 episodes of characterization very seriously, because a lot of correction happens based on response. Pallavi was also a lot less spunky and a lot more preachy in the beginning.

I believe two scenes were added specifically to overcorrect for these poorly received traits:

1) the drunk lecture to Farhad about women being the backbone of society, to correct for the initial misogyny

2) the scene with his staff member whose sun fixed up his table tennis racket to emphasise how caring for his staff he is to correct for his behaviour towards his staff

But I won't defend Raghav here- I really don't like his behaviour to his staff. Chahe jitna bhi help kare, and they may be forgiving of it all because he does them right in other ways, you shouldn't talk to people like that. Pallavi also called him out, when he was hungover, and I hope he gets better. His way of talking to Farhad is also very bad sometimes.

@red- exactly. That's why I get upset when we see these plots on TV also, because it sends the wrong message. In real life, one should leave at the first sign of abuse, and never look back, because 99.99% of the time, the abuser is not going to change.

@r and I'm glad ki cvs are actually giving us those scenes. 👏 We can love raghav all we want but if sunny can get the hit for doing all the things raghav had done in the past then why can't raghav get called out on the same. I love raghav as much as I love farhad but wrong is wrong no matter who does that.

Yeah the way Raghav had behaved with that first girl gosh. The thing is after just those epis they completely changed it. Never again we saw Raghav's misogynist behaviour.

Infact in the epi where Pallavi is unconscious on highway. Raghav actually says, "We should protect women as they are the backbone of our society"

So I like to think that Raghav is not an outright MCP. More like when he is angry he said those rude words to Pallu.

Also the first girl was not even bothered by his comment infact she found him hot. Like wtf 🤣

I agree with you Raghav too has invaded Pallavi's privacy. But all seems to be forgotten now.

But I will also give it to the CVs for showing a good redemption track.

Infact in ITV male leads never get a redemption track.

I will also appreciate RR when he reminded Pallavi not to keep a fast for him as he has done horrible things to her in past. 👏

You have summed it up so well...

My concern with sunny is basically his misagony...

While he seems to be a helping hand to strangers ( he had helped both Raghav and Lion) although he deemed it as favour to both of them...

He is a good friend - he asks his friend rocky time and again to refrain from doing anything suspicious...and even helped him outta the situation..

He can be very charming and convincing at times...

But if someone opposes him or challenges his believes he goes nuts especially if it is oppo gender, be it amma/ Pallavi or the love of his life Keerthi...

I can't forget the words he said to her today....

" Tu koi hoor ki pari nahi hai, teri jaisi 36 aayin hai aur 36 aayengi" uff

I mean I totally get it like Raghav he is a grey character and probably had to stay away from fam so all the gaps in his personality.... Even Raghav related him to this bit...

Maybe makers are trying to show how the MU and distance from fam can create a confused and flawed person..

But again like Pallavi says even she didn't had parents so it doesn't mean the excuse for his pathetic behaviour...

Over all I am confused and I am okay with him getting married to Keerthi but only after he realises his mistakes like how Raghav did....👍🏼

of course! If truck wala backlash is anything to go by then none would've accepted him as the hero. Good that cvs changed him even they did unlike that they have done with sunny.

I had started watching this serial very late around April. I remember close to Pallavi throwing out drama. So when I was watching the initial episodes I was quite shocked at Raghav's portrayal. The truck one was so bad.

But true they really changed major problematic parts of his character the MCP attitude & playboy thing.

I'm glad CVs took the criticism well and changed the track. Some CVs are so blind to public reaction they still keep showing toxic things 🤦🏻‍♀️

Beautiful post Ashi. I love the comparisons you have put forward between Raghav and Sunny. My fondness of Raghav’s character has always been that even though he is flawed, they keep trying to redeem him which makes him so close to real. yes maybe he is the hero of the show and they had to do it. There has been many shows where ML can just carry on with whatever atrocities he has done and wipe it out with all the romantic sequences but here they have made it a point that he goes through the redemption. I won’t mind if Sunny does the same as long as they have a strong justification for his behaviour. The main difference until now of why I don’t like the comparison between Raghav and Sunny nor can I see them as same is what you said , quoted below.

For Raghav, it was directed at his enemy, the person responsible for miseries that have befallen the people he loves. For Sunny, he directed this at his girlfriend who he claims to love, who loves him back unconditionally. That's where things get scary for me to watch, because women married to men like him, who dole out abuse under the guise of love, have a tendency to end up battered or dead.

But like I wrote on the other post, I feel the writers are pushing his MCP to a level where even if he changes in future, it would be so difficult to accept him. Today’s comment on Pallavi was so cheap. It’s for Lion knowledge but they can’t make him downright talk so bad about a woman and then plan to continue his romanticism with Kirti. And he is now shown to be wanting to keep Kirti on the leash as well just because she is a woman. Pallavi has every right to be concerned about Kirti marrying such a person. Raghav may have misbehaved with Pallavi but never crossed her limits. Even if we talk about how he behaved with the girl in the car in the beginning, he made it clear at the start that he wasn’t a person who is into commitments nor did he misbehave with Anjali. He flirted with her but Anjali crossed the limits and he made it a point to teach her a lesson RR way. Raghav has a back story about females but still they toned him down. Sunny better have a very strong story to say otherwise it’s going to be very difficult to accept him if he changes. After the way he shouted at Kirti today, in real life this type of men rarely change and the fact that Kirti covered him up in front of Pallavi shows how weak Kirti is in front of him. All she might do is cover up for his mistakes but for how long. Now since Pallavi has given him 2 months I’m thinking maybe they are planning on Sunny’s redemption and it better be good.

I think sunny has been changed due to ved coming. But let's see will he become positive again let's see...

Sunny ki shakal dekh k punch karne ka man karta hai. Partly due to his face and partly the acting /character. I guess the difference imo is Raghav don't bother someone when he's not bothered. He will have his sarcastic one liners and Nick names it will have humour. Sunny is not funny. He evoke only anger. I skipped all the initial epis of his entry so didn't watch much also his fast furious romance with keerthi didn't help too. He treated her like shit and she fell for him ..matlab na hai shakal na hai paisa kya dekh k pati bai bandi. And she's like ye dil ka bura nahi hai, am like dil dekha kidhar?

I watched a scene where amma and pallo went to him for tattoo and his tone was so irritating for no reason. Dude was misogynist back then if you take into consideration his behaviour now. He talked them down and "accepted" his mistake as if it was a favor. Courtesy and manners nahi hai isme. Raghav on other hand is rude to sanki not cause he hates the gender or age per se. But due to their history and how sanki was always irritated with him. Same with ayi, he treated her ok even when issue was with pallo/nik/sanki/rest of D clan. He treats kaka alright. He treats a random bhikhari good. He is often rude to his staff but thinks of Farhad as a friend. Now one can say sunny helped lion but the entire scene don't make him look good as he was badmouthing pallo. He has faltoo ka for no reason attitude when he says he's ready to marry as if ehsaan.

Also as I write this I realised Raghav has the paisa or reason to have the attitude. Sunny ka kuch nahi hai itna attitude.
