DRABBLE 8

MERA PATI MERA DEVTA HAI

"Aaj toh bahut thak gaya . Yeh Dubai wale clients itna dramatic kayko hai." Raghav huffed rubbing his fingers on his temple to calm that popping nerve down. Rcently the dubai deal had been a success with a hint of torture in it. He had just gone through the final presentation of the entire design collection when he got a call from someone that made his lips pull up in a smile.

"Abhay!" Raghav greeted his old friend.

"Raghav mere yaar kaisa hai tu? Aur bhabhi ji kaisi hai?" Abhay greeted him back with enthusiasm.

"Main aur Pallavi dono theek hai. Tu bata, aaj kaise mereko phone kra?" Raghav teased him.

"Kya yaar main karta toh hoon tujhe call. Waise aaj ek special invite ke liye call kiya hai." Abhay informed him.

"Invite?" Raghav asked.

"Han woh Esha yaad hai na? Are tujhe toh yaad hi hogi. woh India aai hai toh aise hi sabne socha ki reunion plan krte hai like old times; full daaru aur masti." Abhay explained the scenario.

"Achcha. Kab?"

"Aaj hi shaam ko. Toh tu aa raha hai na?" Abhay asked.

"Pata nhin yaar kaam bahut hai." Raghav closed his laptop doing a mental calculation of his work hour.

"Aisa matt bol aja na. Main address bhejta hoon agar ho saka toh aa jaiyo." Abhay replied and the buddies bid their goodbyes.

"Itne time baad aisa party ho raha hai mereko jana chahiye." Raghav thought as he opened his cupboard to check for an appairal.

"Lekin Pallavi ko kya bolega. Agar alchohol ka naam liya toh woh pakka chudail bann jayega." he remembered the phases he had to go through when Pallavi had him give up on excessive amount of alchohol and such parties meant blackouts.

"Par usko thori pata chal rha hai. Boldega ki meeting ke liye bahar jaa raha hai. Han yeh theek rahega." And the ever so smart Raghav Rao came up with a plan and so he walked down the stairs to execute it.

It was a chill evening in the Rao household as the MIL and DIL duo sat in the living room watching their regular dose of television. Kirti walked in holding a tray of fruits when she tensed up watching Amma sniff with tears.

"Amma kya hua aapko? Sab theek hai na?" Kirti asked with concern but came no reply. Taking in the direction of both the womens line of sight she looked at the tv and saw a girl crying.

"Bechari Pavitra." Amma sniffed.

"Kaun Pavitra?" Kirti asked

"Iss show ki main lead Pavitra jisko uske ghar walon ne doormat banakr rakha hai. huh." Pallavi had her angry face on.

Raghav who had just decended down the steps stopped hearing the conversation.

"Achcha aisa hai kya? Kaunsa serial hai yeh?" Kirti asked, no interested in the show.

"Mera Pati Mera Devta Hai." Pallavi replied.

"Han bechari Pavitra ko koi nahin samajhta hai." Amma gave a sad look.

"Amma toh galti bhi ussi ki hai na. Kirti tumhe pata hai kya hua aaj ke episode main. Ek toh yeh Pavitra ka husband Dev jab dekho sharaab peeta rehta hai aur iss baar toh hadd hi ho gayi. Apni ex gf ke saath ek kamre main baithkar isne itni zyada peeli ki usse hosh hi nhin raha aur uske saath raat bita aaya. Besharam aadmi." Pallavi scrunched his nose and Raghav tensed up. Alchohol and drunk ML was driggering an alarm in his mind.

"Achcha aur Pavitra ko pata chala kya?" Kirti asked.

"Are han lekin aaj ke episode main." Amma replied.

"Phir usne kya kara? Ghar se nikala usko?"

"Nahin ulta manne se inkaar karne lagi. Phir jab uss ex gf ne saboot dikhaya tab usse realise hua par phir dobara se wahi alaap gaane lagi ki Mera Pati Mera Devta Hai. Main usse iss chudail se bachaungi. I swear mujhe yeh ladkiyan samajh hi nahin aati hai. Unka pati saari ayyashiyan karein aur unse jhooth bole lekin phir bhi unke liye woh devta hai. Maaf kar deti hai unhe." Pallavi grabbed a pillow clearly angry at the female lead of the show.

'Parr woh bhi kya kre Pallavi. Dev uska pati hai na." Kirti tried reasoning.

'Han toh. Agar uski jagah main hoti na aur Raghav ne aisa kuch kiya hota toh main toh usko jhaadu se itna maarti, itna maarti na ki devta banne ke bajaye woh devtaon ke paas hi pahunch jata. Uska muh kala karke gadhe pe bithakar usko poore hyderabad main ghumati. Huh. Daru peekar jhooth bolne wale ko au dhoka dene wale ko devta nahin bolte hai. Huh Badi aai Mera Pati Mera Devta Hai." Pallavi huffed in anger.

"offo chodo na yeh toh bass ek serial hai. real life main aisa thori hota hai." Kirti laughed astnished by these two women infront of her. One who was sad and the other that looked like a volcano about to be errupted.

"han tum theek keh rahi ho. Chalo main na Raghav ko juice dekar aati hoon. Phir hume iske baad Tum Mere Ho bhi toh dekhna hai." Pallavi stood up ready to leave while raghav bolted for his safe haven aka his room.

Shutting the door he paced around the room, his ever so angelic's wife's words linging inside his mind.

'Raghav" Pallavi called out to him startling the poor guy.

'han Pallavi. Kya hua? Main kidhar nahin jaa raha hai. tumko koi kuch bola kya?" he asked fearing this small women as compared to him.

" Nahin aur achcha hai tum kahin nhin jaa rahe ho. Tum bhi ajao neeche Amma kal waise bhi kuch din ke liye Ashram jayengi." Pallavi replied confused with her husband's behaviour, "Tum theek ho na?" she asked.

"Han mereko kya hoga. I am Raghav Rao. I am fine." Raghav blabbered as Pallavi left giving him a wierd look.

"Chal beta Raghav wapas line par aja ; aajse zyada hawa main udna band kyunki yeh tera biwi tereko devta banaye na banaye lekin khud dayan zaroor bann jayega." he thought running , probably scared for his life.
