P.S: My "overnight" comment wasn't directed at anybody's opinion. I was stating that the fact that lotsa men are, and would continue to be pigs cannot be CHANGED OVERNIGHT. And ALSO the fact that women are weaker physically.

Really? I got a different idea from the way you've been talking in this thread, right from your first post. Also, what did you have in mind when you used the term "people like me?" Oi!

say what? Have you even read my comments? They have been nothing but general, I was directly replying to whatever 'rightnow' wrote.
people like you as in people that say 'you're not going to change anyone's mind overnight'. Oi! (:D)

That's what I was saying. At least we are trying to make a point here, which is not to victim-blame..and to accept(or try to) that it is the man's fault for abusing/raping someone. It is our responsibility to change people's opinion towards abuse victims.

There are people who won't budge, but that does not mean you give up. How do you think we came this far in the world? The 19th amendment (if you live in the US), gay rights movement, they all did not happen overnight.

Well, we were discussing Priya's decision of living alone in this thread. And mine and the TM's comments were in THAT light. Things would change, but we'd be right phoolish not to take reality checks. And the reality is, I wouldn't go out at night in a deserted place alone, just to try to "change things", because it won't. We need to balance idealism with reality.

Yea, the topic maker called her a kati patang, which is a derogative term. She called out Priya for not being able to predict that she will get abused again, which is her indirectly blaming Priya for being abused in the first place (I actually haven't watched this week's episodes..so I don't know if that actually happened or not). I was trying to tell her that it is obviously not Priya's fault..that it is the stupid guy that tried to take advantage of her..and instead of calling the woman out, why not call the guy out?

She also said that women are, biologically, of the 'weaker sex' which the others were trying to argue, and you yourself said you won't be able to change someone's mind overnight :/
If we're talking about the main post here, it was also blaming Priya for leaving Adi..when he slapped her for accusing his father of molestation..and then threatened divorce. Is Priya wrong for doing that too?

p.s. I wasn't saying that Priya is trying to change things (well, she is too, but that's another story). I was trying to say that the person above your first comment was. There seems to be a interpretation error here.

No, I don't blame Priya for leaving her husband; nobody would. Guess the TM stands corrected there. However, I think he/she also clarified that "kati patang" was NOT a derogatory term, or that he/she wasn't intending to use it as one. Overall, I don't think the TM was trying to say that Priya is to be blamed for her assaults, just that she should be wary of the Real World like any normal "once-bitten-twice-shy" person.
