^ That is exactly what you're implying though.

And those women are no more safe from getting into trouble than people like Priya (as in those who live alone).

If you look at numbers, more than 85% of rape cases are pre-planned, and committed by people whom the victim knows.
Those spine chilling crime stories that show up in the newspaper also involve martial rapes, women who are 'under the protection' of men and family (because you had mentioned that you're being general in terms of gender). They don't mention women who work, go out, and end up getting abused because that is not considered "rape" in the eyes of law(well it is, but no one pays heed to it). It is always the rape/abuse victim that gets blamed in those situations, because she shouldn't have 'gone out in the first place' or 'she shouldn't have done...' Those stories do not end up in the papers because they are not even taken into consideration.

By saying that Priya could've prevented the situation from tonight's episode from happening by staying with her father, you are implying that it is her fault and that all of this is happening because she is living by herself. Priya was mocked even when she stayed with her father. She would've been just as likely to encounter a situation like this even if she lived with her father. And she lived with her father when Brahma abused her.

fyi, I do read the newspaper everyday (:

How many women encounter such things when they live with their fathers? How many women encounter such things when they choose to live in a guest house?

The Brahma incident took place not because of Priya living in her father's home but inspite of it.

While living in a guest house all alone is entirely a different thing.

Crimes are preplanned cannot be measured in percentages. Because many crimes do not come out at all.

The first incident in Priya's life was unavoidable while the second incident may be avoidable. Playing with fire is different and a fire accdent is different.

You are forgetting or pretending to forget that Brahma got her kidnapped and almost tried to rape her.
It is one thing to give evidence in court supported by a lawyer and getting the support in the last minute by a selfish politician and it is another thing to stay alone in a guest house.

In that case why separate bogies and seats are reserved for women in trains and buses?

Can a young woman just go for a walk in the middle of the night all alone the way a man takes a casual walk?

If you read newspapers online, everyday we find women being victimised whether in urban or rural areas.

Perhaps thats the very reason she left the house and living all by herself in a guest house...she wants to conquer her fears, to overcome her vulnerability as a woman! She wants to prove to herself that she can face the world on her own and not in the shelter of Devyani or Aditya!

She cannot spend her life being afraid of every man, of every stranger...that way she wont be able to function. Shes been molested twice by the same man, now she wants to NOT be a victim anymore but find her inner strength and face the world as just Priya and not Mrs Aditya Jakhar!

Also...She HAD to leave that house, dont forget that house still belongs to Brahmanand Jakhar the man who tried to rape her TWICE! How can she bear to live in that house anymore? And also how could she live in the same house as Adi after he vowed to divorce her for the sake of his father?

I agree with this part of your argument.

But as for staying in Brahma's house. She happily stayed there, even enjoyed many events and almost was respectful to him on some occasions.

I think that she fears being another Devyani and that maybe the reason for her to leave the house and save herself from the Jakhar men, Brahma and Aditya. Brahma may comeback on bail. And Aditya's behaviour was highly disappointing.

Let us wish her the best in this journey. It will be highly interesting to watch from now on. Another angle.

Love without trust has no value.

When she stayed at Jakhar house as their bahu and even showed respect to BJ that was for Aditya's sake only. She loved Aditya and wanted to make their marriage work so she put up an act of everything being well...
Also when BJ tried to molest her the 1st time he didnt know her, she was just a random girl for him to be exploited. But this 2nd time when he tried to rape her, she was his bahu...and that was just disgusting and terrible experience for her...she needed to get away from Jakhar house ASAP!
You're right abt her fears of becoming another Devyani, a doormat who lived a lie all her life to keep up the maryada of the family name! But Priya turned her around, gave her courage to fight so now Priya needs to feel she can survive on her own...
Brahma may indeed come out on bail and Priya cant stay there in the same house...no way!

IIs this wise?

Everytime she wont be that lucky that someone will rescue her in time.

Biologically she belongs to the weaker sex and she should take precautions instead of becoming a Kati Patang.

And Priya had been a little selfish leaving Devyani like that. Devyani who gave her mother's love. She could have stayed in the same house but she could have opted for a guest room.

She who always worried about her Adi, now suddenly dumped him and ran away in a huff and that too into the arms of disaster.

Atleast she could have gone back to her father.

Are you an MCP or a misogynist? Or just fairly unbalanced?!
Priya has fought most of her own battles & has been "rescued" only once.
You see single women as Kati Patangs? They are ONLY properties of husbands/fathers/brothers? Are you closely related to Neanderthals?!
Selfish? Dumped him? Ran away in a huff? Are you sure you are watching MARYADA?
GWAD!! Why am I even bothering to post an answer-you are unworthy of my time!
BAH!!
Return forthwith to your cave!

Single women are not kati patangs. It depends on person to person male or female.

Kati patang is not a derogatory term. It is a state of existence.

She is right have you seen Maryaada? Do you even know what made her want to run away in a "HUFF" ? There is nothing wrong with Priya choosing to leave and doing her own thing. Adi deserves to be dumped like that, any man who behaves like Adi deserves to be dumped.

So what if she didn't go back to her fathers! Where does it say after a woman decides to leave her susraal SHE MUST GO BACK TO HER PARENTS HOME.

After you get married, You parents no longer make your decisions for you. What you choose to do with your life is up to you, she is still a married woman. She chose to leave her husband and start a new life, to re-find her life. I have nothing but respect for her.
