Back from watching Kantara. Really loved the first & last 15min of the movie. I was happy to see that they are not at all apologetic about showing their regional customs, be it the Kambala races, the cock fights, the local deities & lores & there is no constant droning rational city guy who is mocking everything & trying to educate everyone 🥱 the varaharoopam song is beautiful & really elevates the scene when it plays. The ending is gripping & you watch it with a morbid sort of fascination/curiosity. It scares you a little but even then there is a raw beauty to it. The ending is what makes it worth watching in the theater. Though I watched the Urdu dubbed version they haven't dubbed the "daiva's" dialogue which is quite wrong!! He is the hero of the movie & for those they provide Urdu subs which pass in a flash👎🏼
The actors are good, especially the hero. The romance is gross and that is saying it politely 🤢 Think of Mithun movies in his old age 😆 the situational comedy is good but some things are just too vulgar.
A good & different movie worth watching only for the "daiva" angle. I was very surprised to see the theater almost 90% full. And even the next 2 shows were almost packed according to BMS app.....strange because ours is a Marwadi/ Gujju area...hardly any Kannadigas here.
