Shame on Bāpū for saying that if Sakhi had been his daughter, he wouldn't have given her so much freedom!
Has Bāpū forgotten how Latika went on a date with Sajjan when everyone thought they would get married? How Bāpū's chest hurt when the Kokate family walked out of the wedding?
Latika spent months in Abhimanyu's bedroom, knowing that the marriage would fail and she would be sent home in disgrace. Like Latika, Sakhi is trying to please her elders, not abusing freedom. Sakhi is only going out with Devavrat because she believes their marriage is being arranged.
Bāpū once told his daughter that she didn't have to stay where she wasn't wanted. He felt hurt that Latika sacrificed her self-respect for his sake. Now Bāpū is part of a conspiracy to deny Sakhi the truth that she's not wanted, and instead of feeling shame, he's criticizing her chaperones as if they lack self-respect.
Has Bāpū forgotten how it felt to watch Abhimanyu hugging Nandini as she rode his motorcycle? Sure, Bāpū did his best to deny freedom to Latika, but that didn't stop Latika from dancing with Abhimanyu at the Maṅgaḷā-Gaura, speaking in support of Abhimanyu when his face was blackened, or leaving home to support Abhimanyu in the race. Bāpū should know that those were real public spectacles, not whatever Sakhi is doing with her parents' and chaperones' approval.
Has Bāpū forgotten the time his innocent daughter came home drunk, and the neighbours didn't find out, thanks to an honourable man?
Let's not forget that Bāpū's son-in-law was falsely accused of attempted rape. Now Bāpū is allowing his future son-in-law to deceive another woman just before the marriage.
