Hello dear forumites !!!

Welcome to the grand finale of this

Banner Contest.

We thank all the graphicers who participated and gave us such beautiful banners. All banners were so awesome that it was a very very difficult to choose one over the other . Members had a tough time choosing the best ones. The excellent work done by our creative friends needs to be applauded as they made it very tough to choose the better one. We now have three winners as a result is a tie for the runners up position ..

Please allow me to express my gratitude and acknowledge the tremendous amount of work that goes into making these amazing banners. We must remember that all banners are the result of hard work, and deserve our appreciation irrespective of the fact they win or not .

Big thanks to all the members who appreciated the efforts of the graphicers and votes for your fav banners

Special thanks to the DT of IF who took time out of their busy schedules to take look at the 16 banners and vote!

The winning banner, which is the choice of majority deserves to be hoisted for the next 6 months .

After Aug -Sept 2026 we can have repeat cycle of banners OR we can go for next banner contest . Decision likely to be finalised by Mishkil and Marathi Shows DT.

May I ask why a second round of voting wasn't conducted if you had so many ties for the runner-up position? And what's the point of having a winning banner if the winner is not being noticed for their work at all?

The whole point of having a contest is to give people a fair chance at trying to display their work and then the whole point of having ONE winner and ONE runner-up is to recognize people for their work.

What you've done here seems to be a mocking of both the creative work that people are doing and the effort people are putting in to vote for their favourite banners. What's the point of voting for a banner if that banner isn't going to show up for more than a month?

I completely agree with you, Shreya.

If there were so many ties, a second round of voting should’ve been conducted. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a contest?

It’s also disappointing that the winning banner isn’t being given its due visibility. Recognising effort means actually showcasing the work that won.

The winning banner is the best no doubt and it will be dispayed for SIX Months . Our members choice is given due respect and also appreciation to the creator of the wining banner for their creatvity.

While the contest was being planned , it was already decided to select top 6 banners for displaying on top of the forum to give maximum visibitiy to our graphicers who have created such pretty banners . and also give credit to forum members for their choice for selecting these top 6-7 out of 16 banners .

Voting is done to select top 6 banners as per members' selection , we are not displaying all 16 banners that were put up for voting round.

Let us express our gratitude and acknowledge the tremendous amount of work that goes into making these amazing banners. We must remember that all banners are the result of hard work, and deserve our appreciation.

Top 6 out of 16? Since when does this happen? How does that make this a contest? I am not saying anything about the banners or the hard work of graphicers. They all know that I "express my gratitude" for them all the time.

But what you are doing is not recognizing the graphicers for their hard work. They are taking part in a contest, not in a team-building exercise. They are competing sportingly for a chance to be the sole banner being displayed in a forum for 6 months or more. They understand that there will be only 1 banner displayed at the end based on people's votes who are voting for the top banner.

And you are not showing any respect towards the voters either. I was called to vote for 4 banners. I wasn't told that the top 6 out of 16 banners would be counted. I wouldn't have voted or voted differently if that was the case!

Finally, you say it was decided to have top 6 banners when contest was announced. Really? I don't see it in the contest announcement. I don't see it in the voting thread. The first time I see it is here. Don't you think you should have been more transparent so graphicers could have decided if they wanted to participate or not given that they wouldn't be recognized alone? I'm feeling highly cheated as a voter that my vote for 4 banners out of 16 was treated this way. And I'm sure that there are some graphicers who participated who are probably feeling the same way now.

@bold: Looks like the 2nd post was edited as well which now says winning banner for 6 months and then RUs for one month each.

The winning banner is going to be the SOLE banner displayed for the next 6 months . It’s going to be the only one displayed for next six months . This is because members have voted for that banner . This is the norm as you have correctly said dear Shreya .

Instead of having a Banner contest after six months the DT agreed to display the RU banners for next 6 months and tentatively have next BC after a year .

The decision to display winning banner for 6 months was decided by myself n the DT before voting began and draft of this is posted in Marathi shows VB discussion thread for everyone to see. Request you to recheck facts before saying wrong things dear Mrina.

Why would I check the VB thread? This should have been mentioned in the banner contest announcement thread.
