Is it right to say that just to satisfy or rather fulfil their chauvinist male desires..they come up with such story lines where the woman (good or bad),,are always at the receiving end,,

Take a Monica from KKK...she had a one night fling BEFORE marriage and got pregnant,,when Vikrant came to know abt this ..he did not accept nor gave her the status of a wife,,and the makers infact went on to show a subtle romance harbouring between him and his SIL,,

Now take a GURU from MNB,,inspite of being in a wedlock ..he went on to have a realationship with another woman..and was shown sharing the same flat right under his wife's nose,,
Now legally..Radhika ,,could have sued him on the grounds of adultery,,,but instead she accepted him back nonchalantly...
Isn't this hypocracy to show a woman who lost her virginity before marriage as a vamp..whereas is a man who is openly been shown sharing a bed with another woman inspite of being in a marriage being potrayed as a villain???
If a man has desires so does a woman,,,

We need more of these posts. Even I could not have thought this

Well put Pri_b. That again brings me back to the same question more emphatically. MNB is top of the charts and KKK has sunk. But the major audience for the serials are women. So how come they are happy with such portrayals. It is a mystery to me.

But as far as Monica issue goes, the fact that she hid her condition from Vikrant before marriage goes against her, IMO.

@bold they conveniently used that to make her villain, IMO
And then added her selfish streak, ambition to it. Plus having a western name added to that.

Well..if Monica was at fault for hiding her pregnancy ..then wot different is Guru,,he too conveniently hid his relationship from his family,,Radhika had infact caught him and Shanaya red handed...
M not supporting that Monica..m just trying to derive a contrast between two individuals ..a man and a woman,,who despite being in somewhat similar situation are being potrayed differently before the viewers..
As for TRP's are concerned..then MNB...despite its pathetic storyline...is high in entertainment quotient..the show has been executed very well and the makers have done a good job at withholding audience's interest until now,,people love to see Guru's dhadpadat ..Radhika Shanaya's cat and mouse chase..
Whereas KKK had a lot of grey shades to it,,it had started on a negative note,,and tyat tya Vikrant cha toch toch dukhi and gambhir chehra ..Was a major. drawback..hero chi ek image astey Lokan Samor..dashing ..smart..readily handling any situation and Vikrant did not fall in any of these,,

A cheating husband's story is treated humorously in films and tv
Biwi no. 1
Pati patni air woh
Mnb
Kiss kiss ko pyar karoon

But god forbid if a wife cheats, then she is treated like sita!

Why can't the man be ever blamed?

Cheating is NOT funny

A common concern about my post was how is it related to major audience (women) of regressive serials. I was wondering if like me woman also carry only a image of modern, liberal, independent and self-made Lady.

Since her upbringing is same as mine, whether she also scretly believes in male chavanist thoughts and if she fills guilty at back of her mind for being modern, for not following rituals, for not submissive.

I was wondering if because of this hidden guilty she finds solace in regressive fictional chracters who follow all rituals, who live for family, who sacrify self desires.

But I was not sure if this can be correct. Because I can not read mind of women around.

Today's act of Dr Megha Khole made me think if women have truly became strong, independent and free from the regressive thoughts being imposed on them or they are still torchbearers of such outdated thinking

PS - Nothing personally against any forum friend here. Period

There are men as well as women with outdated thinking, Dilip.
And what gets under my skin is when women don't stand up for another woman who is wronged.

I think as a society we are going backwards.

If we as girls don't stand up for each other and ourselves r then how do we expect a change in the society?
We really need to start by standing up for our kind.

I do it by looking out for my girls, my mom and grandma .
And by keeping my ears and eyes open.

TV can do it by at least trying to show women LOOKING OUT for each other and NOT PLOTTING AGAINST EACH OTHER 24/7

Good Topic TM.
Have not watched much Marathi shows but writing from whatever i have watched.

Marathi shows(& most shows in general) give just too much focus to the negative lead or villain & even sometimes runs solely on that villain's(or so called villain's) antics otherwise they simply don't have any story . Eg. Monica, Shanaya, Ammaji-Fufaji-Nisha from KDP, That heroine's MIL & sister from nanda saukhya bhare.
Would have counted Nandita from TJR too as they have given too much focus & dialogues to her & her maid ever since that show's inception...

The only show i remember where there were no villains as such are ELDG, CBDG & maybe NLYH . JYRG had that babaji for most part & whoever said that they spoiled that show with that chitra track& adoption ending , I completely agree, otherwise that was a good show.

Hi. Aashima!
Yes. There is too much focus on the neg character.

Moving on to my next issue

The look of the characters.

I know it is changing now . There are 2-3 shows where middle class looks realistic.

But a majority of shows portray the daughter in law dressed up as if she's going for a wedding!

Why so overdressed?
Why can't they be in jeans and Kurta!

All time Sari and daagine madhech astat ka baika?

For the contrast of treatments meted out to a Monica Vs a Gurunath. I guess it's due to the difference of time period .
Monica-Vikrant's was an arrange marriage & before that they must be knowing each other for short period of time. Hence when he comes to know of her pregnancy & lie , he didn't accepted her as his wife even though they being legally married. He understood all that goody nature of her before everyone else is a facade. Her nature, attitude & acts wasn't helping the relationship either. So If this guy, who had A real big chance to dump her on wedding day itself , but continued with the marriage instead & was also ready to give his name to the child, then he would've also accepted Monica as his wife irrespective of his feelings towards Mansi, HAD Monica showed any sign or remorse or Even had a better attitude towards vikrant & their relationship.

While Radhika-Guru's was love marriage, They have survived ups & downs for 10 long years & she had seen the good/loving side of Guru. Hence it was difficult for her to digest the fact that Now her husband doesn't love her anymore & has a affair with someone else. That's why instead of blaming Guru , She put all blame on Shanaya & took him back once he showed the fake remorse. And Since except being beautiful , the makers have actually shown Shanaya as good for nothing & Only after money & lavish lifestyle , People supports Radhika over her & knows that in future Guru will come back to her only. 🥱
For Radhika to realize that it was never Only Shanaya's but Guru is the biggest culprit in this, i guess it takes Shanaya to be pregnant with Guru's child otherwise this blind in faith heroine won't believe ever or again blame only the other women clearly sparing the husband.🤢

I have no intention to defend these two shows & Radhika has to be THE most irritating & stupid lead ever. She had & still have all reasons to sue Guru, drag him to the court, teach him a lesson but no she hadn't done & won't do any of it even if she again catch Shanaya-Guru redhanded , realizing he was cheating her all along. Reason for sparing & taking back guru can range from "he is her Kid's father" to "husband- Inlaws ki izzat" ...blah blah blah...ye show kyu dekhte hain log🤢🤢

😆
I can't complain about their dressing. watched Only ZM shows & their dressing was/is pretty regular except for NSB's MIL.

OTT dressing problem is of hindi shows...Pick any show & one would be wondering ki aise kapde & itni jewelry roz kaun pehenta hai🤪 yahan to baal khol k do minute bhi kitchen mein kaaam nahi kar sakte😛
