My issues with Marathi serials - Page 4

There is a Sanskrit shlock describing how a WIFE' should be -

Karyeshu dasi, Karaneshu manthri;
Bhojeshu mata, Shayaneshu rambha;
Kshamayeshu dharithri, Roopeshu lakshmi;
Satkarma yukta, Kuladharma pathni

Karyeshu dasi means wife should works like MAID!

Karaneshu Mantri means wife should be INTELLIGENT when needed!!

Bhojyeshu Mata, if you tell her that you are hungry she cooks and feeds food with UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!!!

Shayaneshu Rambha: in hindu mythology Rambha , who is an apsara, The quality we are looking is who tries to cheer up, ENCOURAGE & GIVE COMFORT (even in bed)!!!!.

Roopeshu lakshmi. Goddess lakshmi is godess of wealth. Despite her riches she is dedicated when Sri mahavishnu, her consort, took incarnation as srirama, she followed with him during vanavas (exile) instead of sitting in vaikunta(luxury). .

Kshamayeshu dharithri. While forgiving wife should be like mother earth. So, she should forget and forgive!!!

This is what our ancestors wrote about how a 'Wife' should be.

This is how my upbringing is.

But now I am educated and carry image of Gentleman who is caring, helping and respectful towards women.

So problem for me now is; being "educated,

- I cannot openly say that my wife should work like maid for me,

- I cannot openly say that my wife should be intelligent (obviously, not more than me),

- I cannot openly say that my wife should cook delicious meal and serve me when I will be back home (she should not eat before me),

- I cannot openly say that my wife should fulfill all my desires (she should wear sari, magalsutra, bangles, Bindi, gajara, etc., should wholeheartedly perform all religious rituals, But she should NOT get tired doing all this and should be romantic whenever I need her to be),

- I cannot openly say that my wife should live happily in whatever financial conditions I put her in. She should not think of better living and think of supporting me by doing job

- I cannot openly say that my wife should forgive and forget all my mistakes and my sins (even if it is infidelity. Because, males by nature are polygamic)

Then what do I do with all these hidden desires' of mine???

I create fictions where superwoman called Wife/Bahu' will fulfill all my desires and all my fantasies.

So, for me all these serials are creations to satisfy' hidden male desires and male fantasies. They are full of male chauvinism and hypocrisy. We write and show the things which we secretly wish to happen. But cannot say openly!! For that matter even the product advertisement are no different (what one can say about an add where a mother gets aroused because of perfume used by Daughter's boyfriend!
