@Aashina, NLYH and CBDG are episodic and there is only a loose connection between the different episodes so unlikely to have such strong villains or vamps.

ELDG was a classic but they could run it for less than 200 episodes precisely because it had no villain. The moment they aim for a 500 episode run they HAVE to add the masala of some villain/vamp/negative character. And if they are aiming for a 1000 episode run then they have to keep the characters from doing flip flops from good to bad and back. There was a serial (I forget the name) where FL went from heroine to vamp and back to heroine.

That's my view.

@Kamal I agree. To stretch the show their needs to be a villain and it's Ok to have one to an extent. My issue is with focus , I no longer watch or stopped most shows for same reason.

TJR too gives too much focus to nandita but eventually balances it with giving focus on other characters. Moreover so far Anjali hasn't took it silently from her & took a stand against her if & when she realized that vahini is taking advantage of them. so not much complain. LZJ too though have villains , there are also characters to give it back to them.

In contrast to a KKK, KDP...where you know even the defeats of the negative characters or the verbal slashing they get doesn't looks like they are defeated, bcoz next moment they finds another bakra & manipulates the whole situation in their favor. And KDP has just too many villains to offer a peaceful viewing. KKK ..one monica, the forever devdas face of vikrant & the whole gloomy aura of the show makes a very strong repellent.

CBDG...i liked that show over NLYH . It had some real good comedy.😳

NLYH is of much more episodic nature than that CBDG .

To have a meaningful story , the hero (male or female) must have some objective which he/she achieves in the end .There must be some obstacles in the path which must be cleared , so a villain is required .
So even for a short story, some sort of obstacles are necessary . The villain provides them but even a person of good intention, can be troublesome for the hero, so in effect be a villain.

Exactly my view. Even ELDG had Umesh Kamat as a "competitor" which created some tension, though in a very refined way.

Nobody is denying the need of a good negative character.

In fact it makes the good look better.

But one needs to stop making the villain plain stupid and have some plot to them.

Phakt kitchen made Doodhat poison ghalna he kaam nako tyanna.

Make them important to the plot #Sulekha #Asambhav

Humanise them.

Or sometime I love a plain bad villain too #Bhaiyasaheb #LZJ

Let's wait and watch what she will do with Guru!! I'm sure this time around she wont be meek. I love this transformation in Radhika. I hope as the story moves on she divorces Guru and just stands on her feet 100%.
