Apart from our itv debate think think of other shows we can discuss too in addition to mohini.

You are absolutely right. We just got away from Vanraaj's torture and now this?! It is better if I take a break for a month and this time, actually do it. Recently, one woman taught me a powerful meditation technique and put me on a daily walking routine. By watching such toxic shows, I am defeating the purpose of what that woman taught me. I should just leave that show and let those toxic saas bahu audiences and TRP aunties watch it. Way back in the day, I used to watch an American serial titled Days Of Our Lives. It is a horrible show, the characters are all about getting revenge or nailing the next guy. No love, no compassion, no forgiveness. The tracks go on for years on end. I would just keep going back due to curiosity in spite of how angry and frustrated I got after watching it. It took a long time for me to stop watching Days Of Our Lives. The last time I regularly watched Days Of Our Lives was in 2002 and the last time I watched any scene or episode was in 2004, though I did see the occasional scenes from time to time. In a way, Indian serials are better than Western ones in that the tracks in Indian serials do not drag on for years on end.

Aside from all the shows and movies we talked about earlier, I also used to watch Japanese period dramas, but got sick of them and stopped because they were mostly set in Edo, now Tokyo, during the period of Japanese history from before 1603 until 1868 and mainly focused on the samurai, the Japanese warrior class similar to kshatriyas in Indian culture. Only one Japanese historical movie is set during the prehistoric era prior to the advent of Buddhism and Chinese and Korean influence and one during the late Heian era. And only a few historical shows and movies are set in other parts of Japan, such as Okinawa, in the south western part of Japan. Any videos available online about Okinawan/Ryukyuan history is mostly to do with the American invasion of the Ryukyu Islands during World War 2 and much of the information about the old Okinawa/Ryukyu history is gone. Only some of the old Ryukyu culture still survives to this day. 😭

Otherwise channels and TV producers will not show such crap. These saas bahu audiences have some kind of crab mentality, like they want everyone else to be just as miserable as they are. For example, before the Anamika serial even started in late November 2012, the aforementioned audiences saw the initial promos and started complaining that Anamika will be too scary, it will have a bad influence on their kids. Like their regressive garbage which they like to watch with all the toxic tracks and sequences never had a negative influence on kids?! As a result, the actual serial did not have the same spooky air or feel as the promos which were shown before and during the show's actual run. Do check out the promos as well as some of the actual episodes and you will see what I mean. There was a lot of moral policing and dirty politics during the show's run due to which it turned into crap. Basically the saas bahu audiences, the TRP aunties and others stop people like us from watching what we wanted to see, different and innovative stories, and force us to watch their boring cliched crap serials. Also in the last few years, notifications are shown on certain scenes in many shows. For example when a scene in which a woman is being abused, harassed etc is shown, there will be something which reads, "This channel does not support, but opposes atrocities against women. This scene is for dramatic representation only." I think most people knew that already. And of course there were some shows, as toxic as they were, which did raise awareness about atrocities against women, children, servants/maids, the elderly and disabled etc.

You were tr_ll_d quite badly weren't you ? I saw the before promos & actual serial of Anamika. The promos were deliciously spooky. I didn't connect with the story though. Pity had it been a web series might have been interesting.

Yes our audiences have become intolerant as the years progress. There are alternatives in ITV programmes tho. Sab channel MTv then there are indian webseries. There was also this bangla app Hoichoi which has got amazing shows with english subtitles.

So there are alternatives to indian serials now. It's not so bad as before.

Me my main source of entertainment is Korean Japanese Chinese & ocassional thai mini series.

On itv i only watch Aghori Nazar DD Yeh Jadoo hai Jinn ka and Bhabijee

You haven't heard of Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi or Kahaani ghar ghar ki. They lasted for 10 years !

I remember watching shows like Bold & Beautiful Santa Barbara. They went on for 30 years.

I've now gotten out of the habit if watching soap operas.

Well let's see if u can break free of the addiction of Manmohini or not.

You made my day with that first sentence! 😆 Yes, I got trolled big time as did all the people who got sucked into watching Anamika. 😆 I always have said it would have been better if the Anamika serial had been with Anamika (as the actual main lead, and not a side character), Jeet and Rano through until the end. The initial episodes were good, but should have been much better. And yes, if Anamika was a webseries, or was produced by the writers of Aahat, it would have been much better! As for MTV and SAB, I do not have those channels on my channel line up. The Indian channels I have on my line up are the following Hindi channels, namely, ZeeTV, AapKa Colors, AndTV, B4U, SonyTV and NDTV along with three Punjabi channels, one Indian Tamil channel and one Sri Lankan Tamil channel.

Yes, I was interested in Japan and it's culture once upon a time and still do enjoy some things from Japanese culture once in a while. Actually in the time I was getting drawn towards India and it's culture along with Hinduism, I did also read up a lot on East Asian cultures, mainly Japanese culture, as well and even tried to learn Japanese and Chinese, but could not as I found those much too difficult to learn. Whenever I watched Japanese period dramas or cartoons, I watched them with subtitles as I know very little Japanese. Other cultures I took interest in were other cultures of South Asia as well as the Filipino culture, the Hawaiian culture, the British and Irish culture, the Ukrainian culture, - my heritage is from Ireland, Scotland, England and Ukraine. - the indigenous cultures from the Americas and a bunch of others. But now in the area of cultures, my main interest is in South Asia. And I love trying food from different cultures. I really enjoy Indian food, particularly Punjabi food, Gujarati food, Bengali food and South Indian food, as well as Pakistani/Mughlai food, Sri Lankan food, some Filipino food, some Japanese food and finally the next best things to Indian food, namely Chinese food, both the Indo-Chinese food and the real authentic Chinese food as well as pizza.
