You are right. But on the other side, it was so hatke to see Mohini do pooja and so sweet to see Man bonding with Siya and Ram and vice a versa. Very nice! Man's truth will come out for sure and I have a feeling that it is Mohini who will do this. I really hate her now with the way she is trying to turn Man back to evil. I hope this show ends with Mohini getting a fitting punishment for her evilness.

I have heard of those shows. The 1980s to 2000s were the good old days of Indian TV, though aside from the occasional religious and cultural shows, I did not really start watching Indian TV and movies until 2004. I still remember many of the titles. Those were the days.

Well there were shows like Sea Hawks it was like JAG (American Tv series.)

Serials like Tara , Banegi Apni baat etc

Anthology series like Star bestsellers, Zee Rishtey

Comedies like Dekh bhai Dekh, Tu Tu Main Main, Zaban Sambhalke

Detective shows like Tehkikaat

Then there was a 13 episode Pg Woodhouse adaptation Isi Bagane

There was no son stuck between mom & wife no heavy religious tones. No over dramatization. All very sober.

If you see those you'd find them really modern compared to today's shows

Very interesting! I did hear Indian TV was much more progressive back in the day. So when, and why, did Indian TV become so regressive?

That's a loaded question. One i don't have the complete answer to.

In the beginning we only had two channels DD national & DD metro only people in the city had access to these. Then came channels like zee & star plus. It had a wider reach of audiences.

Also at that time TV was at it's nascent stage. There were a lot of talented people. It was after our freedom. That time there was a new thought. Women too were shown out of the house in different professions. Of course there was family soaps too. But lot of subjects were being explored.

Then one woman came on the scene & changed the course of Television. People were drawn to these soaps. Seeing the success of these soaps other producers followed suit. And pretty soon we got one type of family drama only.

By the time anyone came up with quality content it was too late. They registered low trps. Audiences were addicted to these type of soaps. Crib as they like any deviation from that genre they foung it boring.

So in short the producers were at fault before but now it's the audience that decides the content. And nobody till date is owning up to their choices.
