I know the feeling. I had the same experience beginning of Nazar you remember. Then i schooled everyone really nicely. š They gave me a wide berth after that š.
When i saw Anamika i found that tho everyone was of the same age group Jeet looked kiddish onscreen in front of Anamika. Iām not a fan either of the 2 women fighting for one guy trope. Instead of vamps iād like a good balance of guys in serials too. More than supernatural the focus was more on saas bahu. Till date I couldnāt find a decent supernatural soap that dispensed with that until Aahat , Achanak 37 saal baad , Nazar, DD.
I like the love story of Abhir & Mishti in Yeh Rishta... I would have watched it had it been a modern story restricted to our 4 couples minus the family backdrop. There are a lot of serialās that have interesting stories but for me they need to be in a modern setting. Take our Manmohini. It would do wonders as web series in a different genre.
The channels you mentioned are a good line up. Sab some programs you can watch on YouTube.
That two women fighting over one guy/two guys fighting over one gal is there in soap operas all throughout the world and across all genres. As for Anamika, I remember so many times in the comments sections of the Anamika videos on YouTube, I got trolled, harassed, bullied etc by Rano, Chhavi and Jeet fans simply for liking Anamika even though I never said anything to them about Rano, Chhavi or Jeet. They do not understand that even some of the Anamika fans also loved Rano as in spite of we found her annoying sometimes. In fact, I felt sad both when Rano died and when Anamika died. š But Anamika dying hurt me more. Anamika was not even wrong, though much of what she did was wrong. The real villains in that whole situation were Maharani Vasundhara/Chhavi (???) and Raja Ranvijay Singh/Jeet. Anamika should have gotten justice. Anamika at least had an excuse for her actions. She was cursed! š”
As for supernatural, I think that in the old days of Indian culture, there was not much in the area of horror/supernatural, though the Ramayan and other stories from ancient Indian/Hindu history all have a mix of genres in them, even some horror/supernatural and the horror/supernatural genre is a recent phenomenon in South Asian culture. If only the Anamika serial had been with Anamika, Jeet and Rano through until the end and the story focused more on Anamika and her story, her past etc and less on everyone else, had Anamika acting alone in her ventures to woo Jeet in stead of the addition of those other characters, namely Shaitaan, Patalika, Chandaal which completely spoiled Anamika's character, then it could have been a superhit and by this time, Anamika Season 2 and even Anamika Season 3 would have been come and gone.
I have noticed in many of these serials that traditional, simple an/or uneducated girls were always shown as being good, cultured etc, whereas more modern, educated and/or glamorous type girls were shown as evil, i.e.: Simple, meek, and immature Rano was shown to be good while modern and glamorous Anamika was shown as evil. I guess it goes back to a prehistoric mindset that women/girls are evil, bad luck etc. I would love to see that mindset change and that there is an equal balance between males and females all throughout the world, across genres etc.
And yes, the channels I have are a very good line up! If only StarPlus had not been discontinued in Canada, I would have watched Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. I also had another channel, Big Magic International as well, but that was discontinued 4 or 5 years back.
