Once again you have gone beyond the obvious into the hidden meaning Shruthi.

The moh of Maya captured everyone and they all were engrossed in preserving her, and look at the heavy price that is now being paid!

Loved the post and everyone's comments and views.

My dear Shruthi,

A thoughtful, regretful analysis of what Maya, the girl and the illusion, has done to Maimuyi's Rudra.

And that too courtesy Maimuyi herself. I particularly liked the line "She gives her son's hand to Maya while dying in other words she hands him over to the illusion than the real world", for that is exactly what has happened. Daadi gets into the act later, but initially, it the character certificate Maimuyi gives Maya that is vital for the change in his assessment of her.

Even so, this be all and end all obsession with the maya of Maya has never been satisfactorily explained; it looks more like a convenient plot device.

To revert, Rudra now reminds me more of Tulsidas, with a similar obsession for his wife, than anything else, except that Tulsidas was not a rakshak and had no mission to fulfil.

Your anger at the 3 garudas capering away around Maya's bed while the garuda pramukh sits by the bed "baatein karte hue" with the object of his deewaangee is more than justified.

One cannot, perhaps, blame them, for they know nothing of the horrors being enacted outside. But what of Rudra? He has the gift of second sight in moments when his loved ones are in mortal danger. He sees the death of Maimuyi as a dream 12 years before it actually happens in exactly the same manner. He sees the naga who poisoned Maya in a similar vision long before he sights him.

So why does Rudra's second sight fail him when it comes to the deaths of Ganga and Daadi?

It is a valid question, and the only answer possible is that his faculties, normal and paranormal, have been so dulled by the maya that now has him in its thrall. He is so taken up, heart and mind and soul, with "talking" to a comatose girl that he cannot "see" that his loved ones are being butchered, and that his Baba has been taken prisoner once again.

So one conclusion is inescapable: far from his love for Maya making him stronger, more of a person, more of a fighter, it has made him less. Made him an escapist, who not only cares nothing for the grim mission his father has undertaken or for the mortal danger threatening mankind, and has not bothered to learn anything about them from his Baba, but who wants nothing more than to hold his unconscious wife's hand and babble of their amar prem. As Meenakshi has noted, he is seeking to escape the responsibility of being a rakshak by taking refuge in love and domesticity.

What kind of garuda pramukh is this lotus-eating deewaana anyway? As you have noted correctly, Maya and her maya is an opiate that has drugged Rudra and now has him in its hold. And because the time he has wasted with this maya, he has lost more than ever before. Nothing he does from now on can ever erase these losses. How is he going to live with this guilt?

As for your last para, maya may be necessary on a limited scale, to prevent depression, or to make possible the achievement of very hard missions by making others believe in victory even when it seems out of reach. But how can one control maya? Only the Lord Buddha and other enlightened ones managed it, and that too after prolonged sadhana. Rudra is going to have to take a crash course in it, and it will not be just about shedding his checked shirt to show off his 6 pack, throwing his head back and shouting BABA!!!

I couldn't help but make a post on this part. When the gore was happening outside the people who were supposed to be protectors were all lost. Lost with a dying girl, they felt because she moved her fingers it was worth celebration.

Though my blood boiled at the scene one thing I have to give to the CVs for that scene. The symbolism that was bought out with entire Maya.
Maya or illusion is what binds us. Similarly Maya the girl bought Rudra to the bindings. Rudra was a boy with no bindings. He was attached to Maimui but he was not a lost young man. He was well bought by her with the pechaan of sahi and galat.
But once Maya comes everything changes. Even Maimui founds her alluring. She gives her son's hand to Maya while dying in other words she hands him over to the illusion than the real world.
And Maya takes him to Kumbh from where he is drawn more and more towards illusion. First with Dadi. In Dadi's laad pyaar he refuses to see the picture his dad is trying to tell him. He loves Maya and a feeling of calmness than an urgency of duty.
it is said that once in the binding of Maya no one wants to come out. Simialrly when Maya tries to go from his life , he doesn't want her to go. He goes behind her, professes his love and tells her without her he is nothing. Maya draws him more and more towards her. His bindings increase when she brings him his long lost mother. The illusion of happy family becomes complete for him
Even when Maya is dying or the first hit is actually happening to the illusion he is holding on to the illusion or Maya asking it not to go. And Maya telling she will not leave him till he asks her to go was like illusion knows once it has a person, it is like having that person in your control once and for all.
To escape reality he paints beautiful picture and even when illusion gasps for last breath Homa is done to keep it alive.
When the world crumbles, prince charming is with his Maya, lost in illusion till the harsh reality of his wounded friend wakes him up.
Yes far too late in the game, far too loses which could have been prevented if he had looked at the larger picture than Maya.
Is Maya needed. Yes she is needed. But a person should not be in Maya's or illusion's control instead he should be able to create illusion for larger good or in other words should have Maya in his control.

@Arshics thank you for the appreciation. Maybe it is personal experiences where at a later stage I understood why certain things happened has made me go beyond the obvious while watching stories also.

@Shymaladi just because normal human beings like us cannot control Maya we are given pain to make us realize. If we realize faster it will be less pain, but if we don't, niyati increases the dosage of pain is what I feel.
If you see every person with supreme talent is given supreme pain also. Because niyati sends those people with a special purpose and when these people just sit around in domesticity without understanding their purpose niyati takes things in her hand and starts her work. Inflicting wounds till you wake up to your larger cause.

Well there is lot of diversity here. Let me add to it.
Rudra is in his own world. A world he was never exposed to.

That dance was poor direction. It didnt have to be that long at all😃

Why was Katherine in it for that long? Rudra, Charles are in denial about their role. Thappadiya Mai doesn't even know she is a Rakshak. Shivanand was caught napping. He suspected that Nags poisoned Maya but didnt do anything about the security. Neither did DM or Prof. Rao. So who is responsible and clear in their mind? No one.

But, I think Maya of all the people is the instrument or the person that is making them see the reality. She is the one who took Rudra to his past, his destiny knowingly or unknowingly each time. And by getting poisoned, she took them one step closer.

Nice take Shanti. Actually Maya the person is taking him towards his destiny. But he is not taking the right signals. He is not asking the right questions. Instead he is lost in her. In Moh. Yes she took the poison. Instead of trying to understand why this happened to her and what can be done really to save her he is talking non sensical things.
Earlier also Maya went to do her penance. Instead of allowing her to do her penance peacefully and concentrating on his work, he didn't think about his duty and went behind her.
Maya is actually his strength his Shakthi if he knows the real purpose of her being in his life, but he made her his weakness.
And your take makes me put another perspective. Many time woman are blamed for men's failures. Especially wives take a lot of brunt on this aspect. Because she didn't support him, she was harping etc etc.. Is a woman really a man's weakness or is it the man who makes his biggest strength his weakness by his actions.
I guess I had also put about Rudra-Maya Karma ka bandhan in Shyamaladi's post also

Maya is not his weakness. I still don't blame Rudra. He is not making her his weakness. He is in general shrouded by Maya. There are a lot of factors. His dadi, his past, his panth, deaths in the past. Maya the girl is just one of them.

Maya I feel became Rudra's distraction.

She brought him to Allahabad. Since the time they come, there have been hints for Rudra to start questioning. Nanu talks about Saraswati Kund, then he finds Daadi who tells him that the Veshes were the ones who attacked, she tells him about Shivanand and his Amrit research, then he meets Shiva who tells him about his Niyati, the differences between Shiva and Daadi etc.. But Rudra ignored all these, refused to delve deeper into anything related to the Chinh etc, even forgot about his revenge.

The trigger that sent him in the other direction was Shivanand telling him to rise above all this Maya and Rudra misunderstanding it as the girl Maya, because by now he was attracted to her. Then Daadi talking only about Maya and other factors pulled him deeper into this 'love' for Maya. He became weak, and she did not do anything to become his strength either. I wish she had told me to go do something With his life like Preity Zinta in Lakshya movie, while she finished with her prayashchit. Alas no. And then the poisoning and near death pulled him farther away from his goal.

So nature had to act because the world is in danger..
