I don't agree to the theory of ruling kingdoms separately. And in Kuru dynasty, kings weren't made by birth order, rather who's more capable. Like King Bharat adopted a child for making king rather than from his children. And also Yayati chose Puru not his other children.

IMHO, Yudhisthir was more capable to become a king more than his brothers.

Yes. I think it was decided by Sahadev as they're the most important villages of kingdom so that Duryodhan will reject the peace proposal.

They're the most important villages of Kuru kingdom. So obviously Duryodhan will reject the peace proposal as suggested by Sahadev.

And if they're given those villages, they can easily revolt.

Yes that is how it was.

They knew that Duryodhan has a strong point, they had lost the bet technically, so if they go for war everyone will blame them

Hence Sahdev selected the places to show the world that they were ready to accommodate, but Kauravas wouldn't relent.

Saying that Duryodhan could have given a counteroffer, which he didn't do couldn't Completely say he was innocent
