At the outset let me assure you that Semanti (Urmila 11) and I have full respect for Vyasa Bharatam and both of us read the original Sanskrit version (Neelakantha or Southern) .

We do NOT depend on English translation by KMG or other translations.

We are very much aware of how the original text pans, (including whatever you have mentioned aforesaid) but this being an FF decided to take a few creative liberties.

Since we are Mahabharata readers too, we know and believe that the epic, in itself, transcends individual characters. In several other posts we have tried to bring out the intrinsic beauty of the Sanskrit language and Bhagavan Vyasa's erudite scholarship and mantra siddhi.

Through a few other topics, we will try to focus on a few other philosophical topics like the Yaksha Prashna, Prati Smriti etc

Since you have done your thesis on Arjuna, may I request you to highlight the significance of Shata Rudriya...

Yudi believes in Krishna from the very beginning, since you ask for a connection between Yudi-Krishna , then you've agreed that Yudi believed in Krishna's foresight and guidance , that means Krishna is a Guru to Yudhishthira ; its on Krishna's advise Yudhisthira goes ahead with Rajasuya

Then Yudi-Krishna relation is that of Guru-shishya; King and his trusted adviser ; devotee and God isn't it ?

If one agrees Yudi believed every word of Krishna then doesn't it say of a special relationship? Why will Yudhi believe in Krishna ,just like that??

Nobody is denying Arjuna-Krishna bond or rather saying Yudi-Krishna bond was greater than the former ; I don't think the Yudhishthira diary aims at it ...no character is bigger, greater than the Mahabharata of Shri Krishna Dwaipayana -Veda Vyasa..

Vyasa's anguish is: I raise my arms and I shout, but no one listens
From Dharma comes Artha and Kama:
Why is Dharma not practised? (SvargaarohiNi parva)

The writers of this diary (Semanti and Varaali) also know Sanskrit . Varaali is a Sanskrit teacher and they've chosen to write on Yudhishthira ( just like you've chosen Arjuna)

So that the neglected aspect of Yudi is made known to others...

Madam,

I reiterate- this is an FF- and we are going to take some creative liberties.

You must be aware that recently several books, novels have been published - supposedly on - Mahabharata - which have not only distorted the characters but completely mangled the heart and soul of the epic itself.

Since you raised the issue of authenticity, I would like to put forth in our defence that compared to other recent books, novels etc which have flooded the market, our distortions - if any- are minimal.

We have - and will - try to maintain the tenor and intrinsic soul of the epic.

Semanti is trying to highlight the lesser known aspects of Yudhi's character based on her interpretation.

I - as the co author - will try to highlight the beautiful way in which Draupadi blended with the five and yet stood out.

Of late, it has become fashionable to portray Draupadi as a sacrificial lamb or as a victim of circumstances. Readers and critics alike delight in sympathizing with Draupadi and claim that her relationship with Yudh was a forced one.

Madam- we too have read this beautiful epic and believe it was not so. It will be my intention to bring out the harmonious and the seamless way in which this hexagon worked - based on examples from the original text

There is no point in comparing Yudhi and Arjuna, here , in this FF, because in our opinion such a comparison is both unnecessary and unwarranted.

Since long I am thinking in the line of writing some lines on the inner feelings of Draupadi on different occasions . Her life was full of emotions and always traumatic, except in very few situations . For me Mahabharat is nothing but a story of an insulted lady's outburst .Thank you Varaali and Urmila

Thank you so much 😊 yes I agree with you. I am a devotee of Mata Sita and also have a great respect for Devi Draupadi 😊 But sadly very few people can understand epic heroines 😔

sorry for being so late.. It was a fascinating update.. but somehow I did not feel the grandeur.. I cant say anything is missing.. but Yudhishthir was too devotional and not realistic.. I am sorry if I am hurting you. I would like to see him more human and realistic :) And also, a good description of Krishnaa could be good. But what is interesting is that the feel of the actual epic is intact here.. the epic is not much about feelings and this is the kind of feel which comes.. you were successful in capturing that.

Yudhi is not yet formally married to Krishnaa- so he is hesitant to describe her beauty. He will do so, once they are joined in wedlock. Watch out...

I am glad that you felt the "feel" of the epic has been maintained. That's what we have striven to do and will try to do so in future.

As for Yudhi, he was always idealistic and very rarely realistic...anyway I will leave Yudhi to Sema
