But I was expecting more shrewdness from Kunti in these partsbecause I don't believe having child before marriage in those days were that much Sin..Vyas Dev was Satyavati's son before marriage..He lived with respect..Still if Kunti feared the society there were lot more ways than floating her new born, she could have given him to adoption to any other royal family...anyway do continue and please explore her political mind more đ

Mentalities in different kingdoms vary. Letting any son be adopted would get people knowing.Kunti will become shrewder with passing time. I do not know how much justification I can do to her character But i will try my best. Thanks for reading and commenting. I will keep your review in mind.

Still there could be better way for a princess than floating a new born, she could have been forgiven if aborted the child..but floating the new born in the river current!!! well my logic could never pass it...đ I too am waiting for ur next parts u writing i greatt đđźP.S:- I like the way Kunti is the shown in the novel Karna's Wife...if u haven't read it yet try it, from current English novels relaed to MB this one describes Kunti's shrewd nature the best and if u r a Bengali then u can try "Pritha" by Samaresh Basu đ
Chapter 3- A new life,a new way...
Kunti had nothing to hide from the world anymore. Pity is that she couldn't hide from herself. Guilt overweighed her, sadness overwhelmed her. Her nights were sleepless. The moment she closed her eyes she would see the same nightmare repeated. A golden boy in a casket, waves crashing down on him. She would wake up in cold sweat. She put a smile on herself when surrounded with people but if you looked deep into her eyes you could see the deep void in her soul. Her parents were relieved to see their daughter emerge out of the dark hole but watching darkness looming around her, they became very upset. They questioned and cross-questioned her but got nothing but a false cheerfulness on Kunti's part as a reply.
"She is grown up, eligible. Change of surroundings and responsibilities would help her. We must find a suitor for her." Kunti's mother spoke unto Kuntibhoj.
"Maybe you are right." Kuntibhoj replied, sadness underlying in his voice.
Kuntibhoj could not bear separation from his daughter for even a few days. Letting her go to another family agonized him. But he knew that what had to be done must be done.
So a Swayamvar was organized in which all the Princes and Kings from Kingdoms near and far participated. Kunti was decked with gold from head to foot. She wore a blue saree. Heads turned as she entered the swayamvar hall with a garland in her hand. It was a self choice ceremony. She walked among the suitors listening to the over exaggerated tales the balladeers repeated of the Kings. She was not paying attention to what the balladeers told. She stopped as the balladeer said," Hastinapur, situated on the bank of Ganga. The King has travelled to many Kingdoms, has won every war, he has brought gold from various nations... " Kunti looked up to see a pale but handsome man, decked with gems of every kind. He wore clothes of the finest silk, a sword hilt peeping out under his various ornaments. He stood stall and smiled confidently but in a relaxed manner. A kaleidoscope of images passed through Kunti's head. She heard herself repeating the word Ganga under her breath. Without any hesitation she garlanded the man standing before her, a man whose name she didn't know. She had decided to spend her life with him.
The spectators cheered. Faces of many suitors fell. The wedding took place as soon as the assembly from Hastinapur. With many tears and goodbyes Kunti was ready to take upon herself a life she could only anticipate along with a person she hardly knew. Kunti travelled with her family and cartloads of gold and her maids to the Kingdom of Hastinapur. She gave a mechanical reply to whatever was demanded of her. Her eyes were only on the flow of Ganga. Priyamvada noticing Kunti's behavior went to her tent in midnight.
"Rajkumari he is not coming back." said Priyamvada.
"But my heart tells me I will find him in Hastinapur." Kunti replied.
"You must not find him. There is a reason we let him go. You should never see him again even if you could. Forget that you mothered a child. You are now wife of King Pandu, fulfill your duties towards him."
"Maybe you are right." Kunti replied faintly.
When Kunti entered Hastinapur she was a changed person, a false person. She was welcomed by Gandhari. She was tantalized to see a person who had so deliberately taken upon darkness in her life. Even after this, she gave out a confident radiance. Kunti took in the figure of her brother-in-law for the first time- a head too small for the large torso, arms that could crush mountains. Eyes were not the index to his mind but Kunti could still feel jealousy streaming out of him, visible in his false smile.
Kunti had trained her heart not to follow itself. The only place she looked forward to was the throne. She duly became the Queen of Hastinapur with blessings from Satyavati and Gandhari. She became an efficient Queen using her wit for helping her husband in matters of State and looking after her family. Though being higher in position than everyone, she put on a show of humbleness before others to maintain a firm integrity in the family. She merged into the family easily, she got to know everyone, even their most internal desires. She thrived well in the false appearance getting the appreciation of her family and respect of her subjects. Learning became a continuous process. Now she looked forward to be a mother again, putting the thought of her first born at the corner of her mind.
Once she spoke unto her dear friend Priyamvada, "When I first met Gandhari Jiji I was surprised to see the pain she had taken upon herself for her husband. I wondered how life would be having a blindfold on your eyes. But now I realize I have put an invisible blindfold on my eyes too Priyamvada. I see only what is desired. Nothing more, nothing less. And what more? No one can see me also, not at least in true sense."
