Hi Tia,

It's heart wrenching update. A mother can't forget her child.

I liked the way you showed her heart hardening. These lines aptly said it.

"But now I realize I have put an invisible blindfold on my eyes too Priyamvada. I see only what is desired. Nothing more, nothing less. And what more? No one can see me also, not at least in true sense."

Update soon. Sorry for the late comment.

Absolutely beautiful...
Your writing style is very mature...

I loved how u made Kunti's gradual transformation from an innocent maiden to a clever, shrewd Queen...
I actually agree with your whole idea of Kunti n somewhere I have the same opinionof her...

She started as a normal girl, but time n situation changed her completely...
Her marriage to Pandu was probably the greatest misfortune for her as it lead her to an impotent husband( in the veil of curse) n also giving birth to children through niyog as well as losing Pandu for his physical weakness n then starting the journey of a lonely mother with 5 strong sons...I guess any other woman in her place would have shown the same wit n shrewdness...

Please continue...

I know am here very late tia dear... first of all lemme applaud to u for takin up dis👏👏and u know wat?? it has come out so very well... as much as ur other os... kunti was blamed, cursed, called selfish and cruel... but no one thought how much she would ve gone through in the process of abondoning a child... even now women who adopt children before marriage are talked ill of... jus imagine those days... watever she did was d compulsion and immaturity of her age... nobody could be blamed...
and about your chappy... u ve potrayed the young mothers feelings very very beautifully dear.. do continue writing... and i promise i ll peep in more often...😊

Chapter 4-The Other Woman

(Few years later)

Devi Kunti was standing on the door to Devi Satyavati's room. She was about to enter when she heard the rapid conversation between Satyavati and her daughter-in-laws. Kunti stopped in her track.

"Mother, are we doing the right thing?" Kunti heard Ambika speak.

"Three years have passed since their marriage and an heir has not yet been born. We must get another wife for Pandu. Otherwise Hastinapur will have to live without lineage."

"Why the Princess Madri?" Ambalika asked.

"You will see when she enters as a Queen in Hastinapur. Bhisma has already corresponded with the King of Madra. Soon we will send a procession to Madra with cartloads of gold and our son will bring his wife to Hastinapur, a wife who will be worthy of him, who shall give birth to a worthy Prince."

All the dreams of Kunti shattered in a moment. She wanted to hear no more of the dreadful conversation.

Princess Madri. Of course Kunti had heard of her. She was said to be one of the most beautiful women on Earth. Tall and upright as a mountain, with a complexion of golden leaves of autumn, chocolate brown hair flowing in lock down her slender body. Kunti had heard balladeers sing of the Princess of Madra. It was hard to turn your eyes from such beauty. An image of Madri leapt into Kunti's eyes. A woman who would come and take away whatever Kunti had built- the love she had gained as the youngest daughter-in-law, the honor of being the sole ruler of Hastinapur, the adoration of her subjects. Was Kunti to lose all these for no fault of her?

"No" Kunti decided. "I am the first wife of King Pandu. I have the power of Rishi Durvasa's boon. I have the capability to rule Hastinapur. No other woman shall-ever-take-my rights- from me."

Madri did arrive in Hastinapur in a few days with all pomp and show that Hastinapur could provide for. A ceremony started in Hastinapur as soon as King Pandu entered the capital gates with his new wife. The King and the new Queen were duly honored. As Madri stepped on the ground out from the carriage, everyone present there gasped at her beauty. Everyone was happy (well except Kunti) Kunti welcomed the new comer with a smile on her face and many blessings even if her heart could only throw curses at her.

Kunti was satisfied to see the 1 akshauhini army that the capital of Madra had given as a gift. "At least we have a powerful alliance now." Kunti thought.

Kunti involved herself more into politics as King Pandu started spending most of the time with Queen Madri. Madri kept out of the decision making processes. Madri met Kunti whenever she needed any help. It took Kunti a few months to realize that it was not that bad to have a younger sister like Madri around. Though Kunti envied the charm Madri had on people she was quite pleased at having retained her power. It had become Kunti's nature to see the glass half filled rather than half empty.

Impressively penned dear.
Loved how you expressed Kunti's pain, jealousy.
And also you gave a very sound reason for Kunti to involve in politics.
I am really loving the way you have been expressing Kunti's feelings and dilemma at times.👏⭐️
