I just wanted to post this piece..Differences and some similarities between
uddhava Gita/Hamsa Gita and Bhagwath Gita

1 Bhagavat Gita contains 700 verses, whereas Uddhava Gita contains more than1000 verses.

2 Bhagavat Gita is known as "song of the God' whereas, Uddhava Gita is known as farewell message of Sri Krishna, a parting discourse, and is meant for those students who have first thoroughly studied The Bhagavad-Gita.

3 Bhagavat Gita is a Divine Discourse between Arjuna and Sri Krishna in Kuruchtra war, whereas Uddhava Gita is a Divine Discourse between Sri.Krishna and His friend Uddhava after the war.

4. In Bhagavat Gita SriKrishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a warrior and prince and elaborates on different Yogic and Vedantic philosophies, whereas In Uddhava Gita Sri Krishna in His Divine discourses explains about, spirituality, religion, code of conduct for various classes of society and stages of life, and many more topics.

5 Bhagavat Gita is Epitome of Yogic and Vedantic philosophies; where as Uddhava Gita is epitome of Vedanta Sutra, Bhagvadgita and Sankhy philosophy.

6. For both Bhagavat Gita and Uddhava Gita, the Teacher is God Sri.Krishna Himself

7. I n both the cases the listener is one only, In Uddhava Gita , it is Sri.Krishna's friend Uddhava ; in Bhagavat Gita, It is Arjuna

8.The Bhagavad Gita is filled with the urgency of battle while The Uddhava Gita takes place on the eve of Krishna's departure from the world.

9 Uddhava Gita , the final teachings of Sri.Krishna offers the reader philosophy, sublime poetry, practical guidance, and, ultimately, hope for a more complete consciousness in which the life of the body better reflects the life of the spirit whereas Bhagavat Gita is a classic of world spirituality

Why Uddhava Gita is not famous like Bhagavat Gita ?

Uddhava-gita is practically the most important of all the gitas for it focuses on Lord Krsna's final instructions just before leaving the earthly planet. Moreover these instructions are delivered to Uddhava, recognized as the greatest among the devotees of the Lord, and foremost among those who are intimate with Him.

When Sri Krisna was on earth five thousand years ago, Uddhava was the Lord's cousin and his bodily features was exactly like that of the Lord. For this reason and others, it is mysterious that Uddhava-gita has never enjoyed the fame of its sister text, the Bhagavad-gita, with which it shares several verses in common. In several ways, Uddhava-gita goes further ways, Uddhava-gita goes further than the Bahgavadgita, illuminating the Bhagavadgita's central teaching of devotion to Sri. Krisna and emphasizing the importance of seeing Sri.Krisna everywhere, in everyone, and at all times.

@kalyani...we are all seekers picking up pebbles on the shore and still learning to swim through the ocean of life and trying hard to be righteous, loving .empathetic and spiritual .Hope HE guides all seekers on the right path.
Vedvyas after he was done with Mahabharatha was still very dissatisfied and was very unhappy. At that juncture Narada maha muni arrives and Knowing the plight of Vedvyas suggested to him that he should write or rather create an epic which would describe the glory and greatness of Vasudev..Vishnu..and sing the Omnipresent glory of Narayana since it is only devotion that would please The Lord.Thereafter Vedavyas wrote Bhagwath Purana and attained perfect peace of mind.
The Bhagwath Purana is supposed to be be the purest and greatest of all Puranas .out of the 12 books of Bhagwath Purana ..Uddhava Gita is a part of the 11th book and is unmatched in its systematic development of Vishnava theology on a wide range of topics ...from the importance of detachment and many other things.Ultimately it teaches the secrets of love of a God.
Uddhava Gita picks up where Bhagwad Gita leaves off.
In Uddhava Gita The Lord speaks to Uddhava for the purpose of enlightening the sages and they in turn were to share this knowledge with the world. For these reasons and others somehow the Uddhava Gita did not enjoy the fame of its cousin text Bhagwath Gita, with which it shares several verses in common.the Uddhava Gita emphasizes the importance of seeing Krishna everywhere,in everything,in everyone and all times.

I personally forgot to thank Meenakshi...na ..shd I say Meenakshi Amman ..truly you have made us all get back on track and invoked the curiosity to know more about Gita and put us on a bhakthi mood.Constantly thinking of Krishna and his Leelas and I can't believe the transformation of forgetting everything and wanting to be in the moment ..Meenakshi God bless you and love you for rekindling the interest in so many of us.Keep the momentum so we learn something out of this whole exercise. So Star Mahabharath is not a villain after all...let's give it some credit.

Chapter 1 to 6= Karma Yoga ..the means to the final goal
Chapter 7 to 12 = Bhakthi Yoga or Devotion
Chapter 13 to 18 = Gyaana Yoga or Knowledge ..the ultimate goal itself

5th chapter is called sanyas Yoga. So is sanyas also a form of karma?

But the recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranamam additionally ends with following THREE shlokas from the Gita (in this very same order) -

Yatra Yogeshwarah Krishno yatra Partho dhanurdharah

Tatra Srir vijayo bhutir dhruvaa neetir matir mama (18:78)

Ananyas chintayanto maam ye janah paryupasate

Tesham nityabhiyuktanaam yogakshemam vahamyaham (9:22)

Paritranaaya sadhunaam vinaashaaya cha dushkritaam

Dharma samstha panarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge (4:08)

My question is - What is the main significance of only these three Gita shlokas to form the conclusion for the recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranamam, and that too, in this very same order itself?

first set of shlokas is motivation , also explaining when a soul realises its divine self, the brahman, then it wins the ultimate battle. So give unto God, realise him, win over your ego, win over yourself and see who you truly are. Aim of us

second one, to win over your ego you need complete dependance. How can you completely depend if u still think u r doing this and that? That is why you need only to pray to krishna and rest is done by him. you are not eating, sleeping, going about the world, it is He who is caring for you and making you do it, this is devotion, complete and utter. Aim of Karmayoga.

sadhu and duskriti are all within us. When we lose direction, when in our inner conflict we give into hopelessness, when we think the world as it is, is the ultimate, Then the Lord shows the way, by coming down to us, near us, holding our hands and showing us the way to him.
