I think what happens is people get a bit infuriated by the fact that almost all the discussion has "star"character (... speaking of which ... this reminds me of my long post of comparison between STARcharacter v character ... oops 😛) and they mod alert posts and then Minakshi has to make a forum wide comment since majority of us use "star"X in our posts, it becomes a global announcement rather than a PM.
But no offense to any fans, the reason I chose to start using StarCharacter in my posts, was whenever I was writing a comment about the serial // praises or criticism // I felt like I was doing injustice to the original characters.
This would be a bad example, since I'm sure no one is a die-hard fan of Rukmi, ... clearly "star"rukmi is completely opposite the epic Rukmi.
Sure we can start calling the serial characters by their name, and start calling those of Vyas' epic "Vyas"Arjun or EpicArjun but it makes no sense to change their names when they have nothing to do with our conversation.
I'm hesitant to write this, because I'm worried that someone might take this the wrong way, but from what I've seen / experienced when it comes to mythological serials and their characters is that we gradually begin to associate the actor/actress in the original place. I do this too sometimes, so I'm not being judgmental or if I am (and I don't know about it), I guess I'm judging myself too. And I don't like doing that. Adding StarCharacter whenever commenting just helps me differentiate my beliefs from being influenced by the serial.
So what does this mean? It means that I'm open to making any changes to myself for the benefit of the group of individuals who feel that using StarCharacter is an overuse... but it also means that if I am going to make changes to myself, I would expect no less from those who aren't in favor of using StarCharacter.
All that being said - no offense and if you are offended -- I'm truly sorry.
