Hello all
Im new to this forum although i have commented on a few threads in the past. Ive been watching this mahabharat patiently as we all have had high hopes due to the hype created. While i agree everything in this show is close to perfect ( direction, editing, sets, costume, actor choice) i think the creators spent too much time on this and less time getting the story right. Its getting harder to watch this. While i know there r diff versions of the mahabharat i dont believe that 70% of what we are shown is true. I know there have been many posts on this so i wont continue.

What really annoys me currently is the portrayal of the pandavas. Yudishtar barely does anything, arjun has become the leader, nakul n sahadev i am enjoying because previous versions havnt shown them much BUT worst of all is bheem. I love bheems character but the CVs have turned him into an over grown child! All he does is eat and laugh and is used for comic relief??? I know bheem likes food but does that have to be the crux of every line he says? I wnt be suprised if during the kurekshetra war he leaves the battlefield for lunch!!!!! I mean come on! He is strong and intelligent and extremly powerful please give the character the honor it deserves. I cringe when he is on screen and i dont blame the actor playing him. Its sad that they have demolished the essence of this show. The story of the mahabharat is full of morals and twisting storylines and characters is wrong. Also they r lying to people who know nothing about the epic.

Sorry if ive offended anyone. I am not bashing. Please share your opinions whether you agree or not :)

Bhima is my favorite character in the epic, so nothing has pissed me off more than his depiction in the serial.

They showed the childhood Bhima played by Miraj Joshi perfectly, and during that time, it made sense that he'd take centerstage. But once the adults arrived, Bhima was reduced to the Pandava equivalent of Shakuni - there for comic relief. In the Lakshagriha part of the story, Bhima was the main hero - starting w/ burning down the house (hint: it wasn't Purochana!!!) and then killing Hidimba & Bakasura. Arjun's turn comes @ Draupadi's swayamvara.

But like you said, I won't be surprised if they show him taking lunch breaks in the battlefield while Arjun does the heavy lifting & fights Duryodhan. Only question - who will then fight Bheeshma/Karna, Drona, Ashwatthama, et al? Similarly, like I mentioned in the CV f/b thread, I wouldn't be surprised if Arjun vows to break Duryodhan's thighs & drink Dushashan's blood.

Another thing - the importance of Bhima was illustrated after the Hidimba marriage. Bhima agreed to live w/ her as long as she was childless, but once she had Ghatotkacha, he left her in Ghatotkacha's care. He being a rakshasha was full grown right after being born. If Bhima was so useless, he could have simply stayed w/ Hidimba. But it was he, not Arjun, who was important to the security of the Pandavas. Arjun didn't have his gandhiva then, and besides, had Arjun used his bow to do anything, that would have blown their cover.

Another thing about Bhima's eating - it was recognized that he needed all that food to be as strong as he was. Like during the post lakshagriha period, when the Pandavas would go begging, from what they'd receive, Kunti would give half of all the cooked food to Bhima, and divide the rest b/w her sons & herself. If Kunti thought that Bhima didn't need all that, she'd have given him 1/6th of everything, and divided the whole food equally.

Bhima was a foodie for sure, but did it make him a less powerful warrior? Certainly not.
I hate how his character has been sidelined. They way he laughs, it seems so fake and is irritating too.
It was Bhima who always protected his mother and brothers, and he was the one who killed demons as well as the 100 Kauravas.
The twins don't hold much importance like the other three do. But the other three are equally important.

Absolutely right it was a need for him due to his size and strength. The cvs r portraying him as having gluttony as the essence of his character?!?

I liked the portrayal of the younger Bhim, he had maturity while the older Bhim is immature. Not just bhim but each and every character is important and needs development. But don't know what's wrong with CVs.

In the Mahabharata Bheem wasn't fat. He has a muscular body and has the strength of a thousand elephants. Here they are showing Bheem as a fat person who likes to eat, laugh and tease his brothers. I agree wid mjhtgeetfan and vrish 100 %. how cum arjun becums the main character here ? its like he is the oldest and yudishter is nothing. i won't be surprised if Bheem goes away from the battlefield to eat or Arjun breaks duryodhan's thighs and drenches Draupadi's hair in Dushasan's blood...
