Lol if they start using sanskrit words and shuddha hindi, exactly how much of the indian population and especialy the teenagers would be sitting with sanskrit-hindi-english dictionary?
Noting down all the words during the epi, then translating everything in the not-so shuddha hindi to exactly understand that what actualy happend in the show.

Did we know what "Pranipaat" meant, before this serial? But we figured out didn't we?

If Duryodhana addresses Shakuni as "maatula" people will eventually figure out it means "maamaa"

BTW, how does Shakuni address Dhitarashtra in this serial ? Not watched it so far

Well most of the population in India do not speak Hindi anyway. It's Hindustani (mix of Hindi and Urdu) that is popular.

I had seen Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Chanakya, there the usage of Sanskritized words in dialogs was more prevalent than that in RS Ramayan or BRC's Mahabharat. But it was tough to understand.

Actually, I find Hindustani very tough to follow, particularly due to the heavy usage of Urdu words. By contrast, shudh Hindi is easier, and mythologicals are easiest to follow for that reason.

And Varaali is right - if they could use 'prenipat', then couldn't they have used either the above terms, or a Hindi variation of those in their dialogs?

Shakuni always addresses Dhritarashtra as Maharaj, so hasn't gotten into that as yet.

Hindustani is not tough as such, but it becomes confusing when the same word in Hindi and Hindustani have different meanings.

For ex. the word 'Hal'

In Hindi it is 'plough' -

In Hindustani it means 'to solve'

Personally the CVs and all should have done a proper research atleast for the dialogs.

But what actually is praneepat? Bheeshma telling karnas father ki aaj tumne praneepat nahi kiya mujhe.
Praneepat is pranaam?
Shakuni calls dhrit maharaja.
And bhagini is used for only younger sister or elder one too?The thing is that in bihar, mama/mami call their niece bhagini.
Well you know just how shuddha hindi is spoken in delhi.
Do indians speak hindavi?Is that a mix of hindi and urdu?

Bhagini refers to sister. Anujaa would be younger sister, Agrajaa would be elder sister.

Bhaagneya / Bhaagneyi refer to nephew and niece resp.

I don't know about Hindavi. But showing Urdu words spoken would be anachronistic - one might as well show them speaking English if one went that route.

Maybe one solution they could do - show each character speak the language of the actual region he ruled. Like show Krishna talking in Braj bhasha & Gujrati, Rukmi speaking Marathi, Rukmini speaking Marathi & Gujrati, Karna speaking Bengali, the Kurus speaking Hindi, Virata speaking Rajasthani, Bhagadatta Assamese, Shakuni & Gandhari Pashto and so on. And have subtitles that can be selected in any language, including English. That should be entertaining 😈😆

Pranipat can not be an equivalent for Pranam..

I felt weird when Gandhari said Pranipat to Yudishtar.. He is your son like.. if he is Yuvraj you are Queen.. Why Pranipat?

It was still more ugly when Bheeshma demanded Adiratha.. or ok expected..

btw Pranipat is something to be told or did? how funny is it to say i fall on your feet, when you are standing..
