Tat means father's older brother, while kaka is father's younger brother.

In BRC, Yudisthir used to address and refer to Dhritarashtra & Gandhari as Jesth pitashree/matashree, but that was wrong - it's only applicable to the eldest wife of your father (e.g. Kunti for Nakul) or eldest husband of your mother (e.g. Yudisthir for Shrutakarman). But it's not applicable for uncles or aunts. In that serial, Pandu, Kunti, Dhristarashtra & Gandhari all would address Bheeshma as Tatshree, not Jesht Pitashree.

But Pitamahi - I wonder whether that was correct. Also, Aryaka for Bhima - Kunti's maternal grandfather - I wonder whether Matamaha was correct for that one?

I assumed it should be this way from this serial, but in another thread I was told it does not make a difference so I got

Yes indeed. Pitamahi is paternal grandmother.

Actually Taat (unless it has a different meaning in Hindi) means Father / father figure - not necessarily father's elder brother.

Pandu and Dhrit ought to have addressed Bhishma as Pitruvya - but it probably would have been a tongue twister.

In any case in Sanskrit the same word is used both for father's younger brother as well as older brother.

Kaka and Chacha are Hindi words. Do they mean the same?

Pitamahi and Matamaha / Matamahi are absolutely correct.

I thought i found a blooper in the episode where Bhim says good-bye to his son. He had his 'JADA' the tied up hair on the right side but in one shot, it was on the left. Either i am seeing things or i actually saw that😆
