During Mahabharata time, Sanskrit was widely spoken in Aryavart. So there is no question of different kingdoms speaking different languages prevalent in those parts today. Sanskrit was the language of Aryas. The other languages were called mlechcha ( Non-aryans)languages.The emergence of Pali/Prakrit ( derived from Sanskrit ) started happening in the times of Buddha and further disintegration of sanskrit into apbhransh started happening around 10th century AD. The present day hindi, marathi, punjabi, dogri, bengali, gujarati, pahari, kashmiri etc. are apbhransh ( deteriorated, impure ) forms of Sanskrit only. With the Islamic invasion, arabic words got infused into these especially hindi. Today what we speak is not pure hindi but amalgamation of hindi and urdu.
Pure hindi consists of pure sanskrit, sanskrit derived , desi words not foreign words from english and arabic.

That is such a silly mistake on their part, can't they use one wig for Dronacharya.

All this is true, but the reason this thread got started was that the TM noticed Urdu words creeping into some of the conversations, and pointed them out. Then it was discussed whether tossing in Sanskrit words would make it more difficult for today's audience to follow. Hence I suggested, jokingly, that have each character speak the current language of their respective geographic locations. Like Krishna Braj when in Mathura and Gujrati once he had moved to Dwarka, Rukmi & Rukmini Marathi, since they were from Vidarbha, Karna Bengali, Hidimba/Hidimbi Pahari, Hanuman Kannada, Pandavas the Delhi language, Kauravas the Kauravi language, Panchalas their dialect, Matsya Mewari and so on.

Yes, the screen play and dialogues are of low standard. They do not justify a rich literature like Mahabharat whereas the old MB had mind blowing dialogues with very deep meanings.

So is the feminine for Pitamaha - Pitamahi? As Bhima introduced Ghatotkacha to Kunti? 😆

I too wondered if that is right.. also noticed he introduced Yudi and Tatshree and other three as Kakashree.. But Shruti and Cotswolds said both the words mean the same
