Adirath was Dritharashtra's charioteer

but after Karna became king naturally he gave it up coz he was a king's father and Karna was devoted to his foster parents .

So Sanjay became the royal charioteer .

This show constantly shows Adirath pulling down his son as if he is ambitious when in Mahabharat it was Adirath who took Karna to Drona after observing his interest in archery . Drona refused him .

At the skills display Karna did pranam to him and he was affectionate and proud of him .

The foster parents were very proud of Karna so don't know what rubbish they r showing .

they are just belittleing our culture and sacred texts and insulting us and showing the world what pathetic creatures our ancestors were.

Just opposite of everything they stood for. This is again to mislead the youth of our country. 😡🤢

Don't get me wrong, I love the character of Arjuna ❤️ but I did not like how the new promo showed him as the leader of the Pandavas. 😕 All the other Pandavas seemed insignificant next to him, and it was weird seeing him lead the pack when both Yudhisthira & Bhima were older than him. In the epic, Yudhisthira always led the Pandavas, followed by Bhima, Arjuna, Nakul, and Sahadev in the order of their birth.

It's not necessary to make the other Pandavas insignificant to make Arjuna seem great. What did you all think? If you are Shaheer's fans, please do not be offended or anything. This is not about Shaheer. It's about the characterization of the Pandavas by the CVs.

I'm late to this, but yeah!!! The thing I hate both about this Mahabharata and previous ones is showing Arjun larger than life. Bhima was just as prominent, but shows tend to try & paint him as a buffoon - the worst being BRC. The only time Arjun led was @ Kurukshetra, and that was b'cos Drishtadyumna, who was the senapati, decided that he was the one who should confront Bheeshma. Otherwise, Arjun rarely led the pack.

The trend of belittling others to make the hero look great is not new - we've seen it, and been disgusted by it, in DkDM, where Parvati & Kartikeya had been badly belittled in order to make Mahadev look great. Or in DBSK, where Balarama was made to look headstrong. Somehow, serial makers seem to think that the story should revolve around just one character. But if they believe that, they should stay away from mythos.

I love Arjun, but I hate this Arjun - not Shaheer per se, but this larger than life Arjun who's supposed to be a magician while his brothers are all dunces.

Adirath was not Dritarashtra's charioteer. It's not known whose charioteer he was, so whatever they showed - him being Bheeshma's charioteer, or Pandu's earlier - is not wrong.

But what is ridiculous is when Karna announced that he was the son of Bheeshma's charioteer, Kripa's response - suta-putra - would have been an oblique insult to Bheeshma, the way it was cast.

Are u sure Adirath was not Dritharashtra's charioteer ?

I wrote what i knew , always i knew this only . But if other facts r correct i'm open to understanding them .😊

Other thing ...Adirath was NOT the sour faced self effacing character these people have made him to be .

Adirath was the title given to those who rode a chariot extremely fast and well ...only Arjun, Karna , Bheeshma and Drona had it . During the war , since Karna was fighting they needed someone who could chariot him well . He himself was a great chariot rider but he had to focus on fighting . So Duryodhana requested Shalya who agreed but took great offence at driving chariot for a Suta . And hence refused to remove the wheel when it got stuck in the mud , forcing Karna to get down . And the rest is history .

It's not mentioned anywhere whose charioteer Adirath war. If you think he was Dritarashtra's, a citation from the Mahabharata would be needed.

@rasyafan,

Even I did not like today's episode or any of the episodes since the entrance of adult Pandavas. The technology was way too OTT and unrealistic. The Pandavas and Kauravas all behave liked goons. There was nothing graceful or royal in their countenance or presentation. The actors are OK, but the CVs' presentation of them was a total disappointment!

I especially disliked the way Karna is being portrayed. They make him seem like this angry young man who does not love anyone but himself! He may have defended his parents today, but when he was leaving his home as a teen he was totally insolent and rude to them, especially his father. He was downright disrespectful to Dronacharya and Kripacharya. It's definitely not realistic because people back then were not insolent to elders, even if they felt insulted! Karna was not a completely negative character. He was supposed to be dignified in his manner of talking, and yes he was frustrated with society's discrimination against him, but he was not so bitter that he turned into this psychotic angry young man. *rolls eyes*

The actor who is playing Karna did a good job of delivering his dialogues (so far he's better than all the Kauravas and Pandavas), but his characters was completely modern and inaccurate.

Yeah, I too dislike how TV shows and movies completely overlook the other Pandavas in favor of Arjuna. Each of the Pandavas was known for a special skill, even Nakul and Sahadev. In fact, this show started off showing the Pandavas really well as children, but then they kind of forgot about them in favor of Arjuna. Yudhisthira was not this boring, weak character like serials show him. He was a skilled warrior who did pretty well during the war himself. He may not have been as strong as Bhima or skilled as Arjuna, but he was no dunce. As for Bhima, he killed nearly half of the Kaurava army himself! He was as good with his mace as Arjuna was with his dhanush. As for Nakul and Sahadev, they were excellent swordsmen and also good healers. People don't know much about them, but they contributed a lot during the war. Plus, Sahadev is known for killing Shakuni.

Bhima of this MB reminds me of Dudley from Harry Potter. He looks like a typical playground bully, not a mighty warrior who was a formidable opponent to the Kauravas.
