I've never read about Adirath being Dritarashtra's charioteer anywhere. BRC was the first place where they showed him in that role, but since nothing is mentioned, it's neither right nor wrong. Same goes for what this serial depicts. They were fine w/ showing him as Pandu's charioteer - although it's a bit monstrous a coincidence that Kunti floats a baby on the river, and that baby gets adopted by the charioteer of a ruler who in future marries her.
In a previous thread about the Pandava Parivar, where we discussed Karna as well, I posed the question about whether Kuntibhoj's kingdom was located upstream from Hastinapur, which would have had to happen for Karna to end up there.

no i do not. But i do know that Kuntibhoj is the adoptive father of Kunti. He didn't have children of hiw own and adopted her from Shurasena and brought her up like his daughter. He sided Pandavas during the Kurukshetra..

And last night...the way everything was portrayed, i think they are going to make the war a fight for Kingdom rather than a "Dharm Yudh."

Yeah, I too dislike how TV shows and movies completely overlook the other Pandavas in favor of Arjuna. Each of the Pandavas was known for a special skill, even Nakul and Sahadev. In fact, this show started off showing the Pandavas really well as children, but then they kind of forgot about them in favor of Arjuna. Yudhisthira was not this boring, weak character like serials show him. He was a skilled warrior who did pretty well during the war himself. He may not have been as strong as Bhima or skilled as Arjuna, but he was no dunce. As for Bhima, he killed nearly half of the Kaurava army himself! He was as good with his mace as Arjuna was with his dhanush. As for Nakul and Sahadev, they were excellent swordsmen and also good healers. People don't know much about them, but they contributed a lot during the war. Plus, Sahadev is known for killing Shakuni.

Bhima of this MB reminds me of Dudley from Harry Potter. He looks like a typical playground bully, not a mighty warrior who was a formidable opponent to the Kauravas.

Each Pandav was skilled in wars and fight and their weapon. No one was better then the other I am sure if Sehdev had fought with Arjun in sword fighting, he would have defeated him. Because they were all skilled in different weapons. But I call Yudhisthir all rounder, he was trained to be a king. And being the elder he was always in control of himself. He had an iron will that is how he took most of his decisions. Among all others he was the only one in control of his emotions, he thought just like a king, and just like a king, he would remain calm in most panicky situation that is why all his brothers looked up to him, obeyed him, respected him had full confidence in him. Except for that mistake, with Draupadi, through out his life, he lived like a righteous King thought good, did good and till the end remianed a Dharm Raj. Which is what he was. He proved it. He was stronger then all the Pandawas.

He made that mistake knowing fully well that he is being tricked by Shakuni and his goons but he obeyed Dhritrashtra who had ordered him to play. Yudhishthar obeyed him not because he was a king but becasue he was a head of the family. As he was a Jeshth Pitah.

But I know now Creator and producer of this Copy cat Mahabharat are deliberately showing the opposite , lies and fake, ridiculous story. 🤢🤢🤢

Janak adopted Sita

Adirath adopted Karna

Kuntibhoj adopted Kunti

Kanva Muni adopted Shakuntala who was daughter of Vishwamitra Menaka

Satyawati was herself adopted

Couldn't Kunti say she found the baby instead of sending him down the river is what i always feel .

As i see it , that age was very very progressive

it permitted polyandry , adoption of illegitimate children , conception by other men with permission from sasural or husband ...Karnas fate could have been avoided .

The Kunti kingdom was neighbour to the Avanti Kingdom. It was probably to the north of Avanti.
The historical Avanti Kingdom of ancient India is described in the Mahabharata epic. Avanti was divided into north and south by river Vetravati. Initially, Mahissati (Sanskrit Mahishamati) was the capital of Southern Avanti, and Ujjaini (Sanskrit Ujjayini) was of northern Avanti, but at the times of Mahavira and Buddha, Ujjaini was the capital of integrated Avanti. The country of Avanti roughly corresponded to modern Malwa, Nimar and adjoining parts of the Madhya Pradesh.
Both Mahishmati and Ujjaini stood on the southern high road called Dakshinapatha extending from Rajagriha to Pratishthana (modern Paithan). Avanti was an important center of Buddhism and some of the leading theras and theris were born and resided there. King Nandivardhana of Avanti was defeated by king Shishunaga of Magadha. Avanti later became part of Magadhan empire.

List of Kingdoms in Bharata Varsha (Ancient India)

  • Mahabharata, Book 6, Chapter 9

From the extract below, it seems there were two kingdoms with the name Kunti, one Kunti proper and the other Apara Kunti, which means a Kunti Kingdom farther away.

...the Chedis, the Karushas, the Bhojas, the Sindhus, the Pulindakas, the Uttamas, the Dasharnas, the Mekalas, the Utkalas; the Panchalas, the Kausijas, the Nikarprishthas, Dhurandharas; the Sodhas, the Madrabhujingas, the Kasis, and the further-Kasis; the Jatharas, the Kukuras, the Kuntis, the Avantis, and the Apara-Kuntis; the Gomantas, the Mandakas, the Shandas, the Vidarbhas, the Rupavahikas; the Aswakas, the Pansurashtras, the Goparashtras, and the Karityas; the Adhirjayas,...

Other kingdoms in this group include:

  1. Chedi (approx. Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh)
  2. Surasena (Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh (also known as Vraja)
  3. Dasarna (south to Chedi Kingdom)
  4. Karusha (east to Dasarna Kingdom)
  5. Kunti (North to Avanti Kingdom)
  6. Malava (West to Avanti Kingdom)
  7. Gurjara (southern Rajastan)
  8. Heheya (Narmada valley around the city Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh)
  9. Anarta(northern Gujarat)
  10. Saurashtra (southern Gujarat)
  11. Dwaraka (offshore the Dwarka city in Gujarat)
  12. Vidarbha. (north eastern Maharashtra)

I wonder something different. Okay, seeing Karna that day, Kunti was shocked. But that evening, couldn't she have summoned her sons in private, told them her secret and ordered them to apologize to Karna? Had she done that, Karna could have returned his crown to Duryodhan and not been in his debt, and a lot of bloodletting could have been avoided. Karna wouldn't have helped kill Abhimanyu or kill Ghatotkacha, and his sons too would have lived.

She didn't have to do everything publicly. Just like she told her sons privately who Karna was after the war, and they did the funeral, similarly, she could have done it that evening, then invited Karna over, had them apologize to him, and then done what was possible to reconcile. At that stage, Karna had not undergone much damage, and could definitely have followed the right path.

Duryodhan wouldn't have dared confront a Pandava coalition that included Karna in it.

The same thing was discussed then, and then the question came up - if Karna was born in Kuntidesh, and floated down a river, and if that kingdom was somewhere in modern MP, then how would he have landed up in Hastinapur, of all places?
