i might be wriing but i think as per the book eklavya cutting his thumb happens in front of everyone i mean all kauravas and pandavs.it happens when Drona is taking their class

I am waiting to hear Drona's POV tomorrow lets see how CV's present this

Its was a harsh act of cruelty on Dronas part, for whatever motives he had, wasn't it an abuse of the Guru dakshana tradition and his own position as Guru? Eklavya being denied permit to study and in this way Drona used this in the name of a test in obedience.
