i always find him a tad hypocritical in this regard.
one can also argue that if its ok to beat the competition by unfair means then it was also within limits for kauravas to burn the pandavas in lakshagrahs incident ( i am not personally agreeing to this but saying acc to the cvs explanation)
his dharma rather should have been to teach arjun to be better or convinve ekalavya to side with pandavas. if he could cut off his thumb without question, he would listened to drona on this too. even if eklavya woudnt have agreed, still drona could have tried first.

Karna displays his extraordinarily archery skills and everyone's spellbound. Well, he isn't satisfied with the knowledge offered and hence moves to Dronacharya. An arrow clashes with his chest and falls down like a dry leaf. Drona seems impressed but his expressions get reversed after Karna introduces himself as a 'Sut-Putra'. Thereafter he lectures him saying that only Kshatriyas and Brahmins have the right to learn the art. He boasts about him being born from a Drona patra and not from a woman's womb like the rest. Karna tells him that everyone's birth is the same for their parents. He then clarifies he's going to learn from the man from whom he learnt. Before going he sets wooden logs on fire and Arjun shoots an arrow to perform fire brigade's business. Rivalry's first glimpse!

Karna shaves his head, to start a new tradition. Brahmin disguise :D

He approaches Lord Parashuram and lies about himself being a Brahmin. Glad to see Puneet Issar sir again..
Lord Parashuram agrees to teach him and glimpses of his training are shown. Karna is amazed to see a sun created by his guru. Lord tells him he'll master the art the day he manages to create a sun.
The whole show was Karna's, he rocked it!

Finally, 12 years pass and we have the first glimpse of our young Karna.

Precap: Ashwatthama arrives to meet Shakuni. Shakuni's hair has grown and he's back to Hastinapur :(
